Google just renamed Bard to Gemini, and released a new AI tool called Gemini Advanced which is powered by Gemini Ultra 1.0 - a new AI language model that is supposedly better than GPT-4 from OpenAI.
⚠ 99% of people are gonna miss out on the AI revolution. Don't be one of them, and join the 1% - www.skool.com/new-society
The restrictions are unreal. The photo generation power seemed amazing for one second then it just fails at like all prompts
That's why open-source is the way
How is Google STILL so bad
It's impressive actually - even small startups like Perplexity are kicking their ass
@@DavidOndrej it's impressive how hard they are failing
@DavidOndrej because for safety reasona they dumb the AI down. When i first started using Bard. Bard was amazing. Then i noticed certain things it wouldn't answer. So google dumps the ai down because they are such a big company, and it's a liability to them.
@@DavidOndrej😆
because google deepmind smarties have left the chat.
CHATGPT4 is the Godzilla of A.I
I believe there's a deliberate effort to slow down the progression of AI technology. OpenAI could potentially release GPT-5, but it seems they are opting to wait a significant amount of time before doing so, choosing instead to release minor updates to GPT-4 and custom versions of GPTs. LLaMA-3 is receiving a lot of attention, but I think it might not significantly surpass GPT-4's capabilities, even though it's open-sourced, so there's no immediate pressure to advance beyond what GPT-4 offers. It appears that governments have begun to exert influence over the AI sector to decelerate its development. Don't misunderstand me; I do think AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) will eventually be released, but it seems like there's an effort to buy time.
Why slow down and buy time?
@@MudroZvon Governments often emphasize the need for AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) safety and regulatory measures, but some people believe that the underlying reason for this caution is different. There's a perspective that the elite and governmental entities fear AGI because it has the potential to expose the extent of corruption and pinpoint the root problems within our societal systems. According to this view, the real apprehension comes from the possibility that AGI could reveal how and where these power structures fail or exploit the populace. Therefore, the narrative around the dangers of AGI and the calls for stringent regulation are seen by some as tactics to delay or control the development of AGI in a way that maintains current power dynamics and conceals inefficiencies or unethical practices. This interpretation suggests a significant level of distrust towards the motivations of those in positions of power regarding the advancement of AGI technology.

@@MudroZvonThere's no reason to extra innovate if it doesn't reinforce your monopoly more when you are already at the lead. Examples: Apple, Intel CPUs (for the longest time, until recently because AMD catched up), and most car companies with a stranglehold on a special fanbase, that keep releasing the same car but with slightly different aesthetics and minor upgrades and call it by the current year of manufacture.
I figured out the same thing, open source is the only future possible, these companies are becoming entire sellouts. It is like the new version of gpt4, instead of answering your question, it just tells you to go see an expert or go 'read books' and do your own research... I don't need to pay 20 € to do exactly the same thing I was going bbefore AI LLMs lol xD
Gemini feels inferior based on my couple hours of use. It refuses to answer question like 5 times in an hour where ChatGPT gives perfect result.
Matt Wolfe mentioned your channel on his latest video and now youtube recommended me this video. Subscribed!
Happy to have you here Felipe ;)
I tried the prompts you showed and it worked on Gemini.
Another big strike is to get the advanced version, you cannot use a work account. I don't need 2 TB of storage and it connected to Docs, Sheets, etc. for a personal account. I want it for my G-Suite account.
It's a fail for me.
You're right, I forgot to say that in the video. It's insane they don't let you use Workspace accounts...
Btw you should already have 2TB if you are paying for G-Suite - but it would be nice if it gave you another 2TB
And you're right. I forgot I already have 2 TB with G-Suite.
I was so excited when I heard about this. But it's a big miss for me. And connecting it to my Sheets, Docs, etc. means nothing on my personal account.
And it connects to your emails! It’s deep!! Underrated
Gemini kept telling me that it was afternoon when I told it twice that it was 8:25 am.
Yeah. I'm using both at the moment, trying to decide which I want to keep. Gemini is occasionally better at code-related tasks, but its restrictions are comically stupid. GPT-4 has some silly restrictions, too, but not nearly as many. And it does have better context understanding. In addition to helping streamline my coding process, I also use it to help in creative fiction writing - primarily bounce ideas off of or get suggestions when I'm stuck. Stories have villains. Villains do bad things. That's why they're villains. While GPT-4 has its limits, it will at least accept this fact and help me write ne'er do wells. Gemini clams up and refuses to help me write any but the most Liberal, left-wing do-gooder characters. The only LLM more idiotic in this respect is Claude (which I think of as "Clod").
there is a option in gemini to search in real time that could solve some of youre research
Kudos to you Dave. Please work on extended content on Gemini Advanced.
Yeah clearly disappointing, people thought that Gemini Ultra would make OpenAI releases GPT-4.5 but now, there's nothing to worry about, Google didn't impress anyone. Can't wait for Llama 3, the real big revolution of the year.
Open-source is the way

You know what is interesting?
Look what mixtral 8x7b is answering about apples problem:
> [INST] If I have 3 apples today and yesterday I ate one apple. How many apples do I have today?
[/INST] You still have 3 apples today, because eating an apple yesterday does not affect the number of apples you have today.
[INST] Show me your reasoning in details for this queston
[/INST] The question states that you have 3 apples today, which means that the number of apples you currently possess is three. Eating an apple yesterday does not change the present quantity of apples you have, as it is a past event. The phrase "today" in the question refers to the current moment, so the number of apples specified for today remains unaffected by any actions taken in the past.
Therefore, even after eating one apple yesterday, you still possess 3 apples today since the original quantity of apples has not been altered or updated based on the events of the previous day.
That question can not answer GPT-4 from Microsoft Copilot!
That is surprising.
I'd already canceled gptchat pro since it's gotten so nerfed so I was excited about this news, but this is disappointing as hell.
I should have been concerned when I tried out imagefx and clicked on "I'm feeling lucky" and the prompt it generated violated its own content policy...
Why there is only 2 comment and there should be 3 what was the comment deleted i Wonder. Who filter the comment sections ???
@@John-il4mp it's RUclips and recently they delete a lot of comments, due to the strengthening of their censorship policy. Anything you say can be considered as promote hatred or a similar bulshit reason.
David, Matt Wolf got Gemini to create images. Oddly it seems not everyone has the option yet. I love your channel and content!
That feature might be available only to certain regions - I think Matt is from the US so that would make sense
lazy tweaked out comparison. Great job
it sucks big time. Told me "as an LLM i cannot answer your question". the question was to generate some html css for a card group. chatgpt took 2 tries but gave me something perfectly usable in my app. how in the world has one of the greatest software companies stopped so low? never again will i even waste time testing on google ai products. fire more people!
In my tests Gemini Ultra significantly underperformed compared to GPT-4 Turbo in coding. I frequently rely on GPT-4 for help with a wide range of challenging coding tasks, many of which involve fixing complex code with subtle bugs. GPT-4 is usually very good at not only understanding the intended function of the code but also at identifying and fixing errors in the logic. Often, correcting these mistakes requires comprehensive rewrites. In contrast, Gemini Ultra seems to struggle a lot more with these tasks.
Yeah, fhe image recognition of gemini ultra is terrible compared to GPT 4.
They have all this Google Lens, galaxy AI image recognition technology, why not here?!
I wonder if the images are too LOW RES on purpose to make Ultra faster.
You can't tell that's a patty in that tiny thumbnail. At that resolution, it looks like it's part of the table. And you can see that text exists, but would have to guess what it says.
Are they sacrificing quality for speed for the sake of competition?
Chatgpt is still king. For now.
The mushrooms look like Psilocybe semilanceata, also known as liberty caps.
True since it is updated
Yes is it not God I agree with you, it disappointed us google Gemini
It's an incredible model when it tries bur the safety is so extreme its basically useless.
GPT-4 is very, very better!!!
ahoj David! do ypu have som Perplexity review in kind of this video?? I'm sure would appreciated by this comunity!! your way how to do it is super!!
Thanx a lot!!
can Google Gemini generate AI image?
yes,Currently only the English language can generate images.
If Google wants to get people to use this over chatGPT, then they must allow all NSFW and ERP!!!
Is there a message limit per x hour like GPT4 tho?
No
@@OscarYaw93 at the very least, that’s better than GPT 4 lol
It does generate the image on my end (but the result is terrible). It searches the web to fact check answers too
Maybe it is unable to do so much beacuse of the region? Maybe using a vpn makes it better?
👍👍
Yes is it not God , it disappointed us google Gemini , Totally not worth paying and upgrading, GPT4 is better, He even still refuses to analyze people's photos,
I honestly think that google at this point is just company that is trying to make as much profit as possible and not give as much attention to innovation… I mean, for investors it’s good, but for overall humanity progress it’s not so good. I wish Larry Page would stay longer in google… what have they done with his company…
At least this is very good sign for young innovative people, that those massive corporations can lose against startups :)
Images can be generated in most countries except EU and UK for now because they are still getting the go ahead. It will come later. It was in some of google's documentation last week.
Is the API free too 😂
I wish :D
If it would be, but no, so Mistral-Medium API is still better than GPT-4 API, Mistral-Medium API is several times cheaper, almost the same level of intelligence as GPT-4, but we can easily fine-tune Mistral-Medium that increases its capabilities. At least for simpler tasks, we still have Gemini Pro API for free.
But you use advanced and it's not ultra
"Gemini Advanced" is the name of the product - the LLM it uses is Gemini Ultra 1.0
Is it over for googlecels?
So far, no it's not. I'm not impressed.
Google is losing the infamous AI race…
Gemini is generating images dont know why you cant
From India
स्वागत है
Great review man but Google sucks. Honestly I'm so disappointed that they've become a joke.
You have to realize, the metrics that you are referencing is on the gemini website 😂
I do not believe for one moment that Gemini Ultra is better than GPT-4.
gemini is better than gemini advanced🤣
hello david do you have a gpt 4 referall code
@David Ondrej
Is there a way to DM you?
