This was my first Flaming Lips song back at age 5. As much as I love this song, It's hard not to imagine a flying establishing shot of Edward Nigma's studio apartment...
You really tend to understand the lyrics to songs when you’ve grown older. We all hate our bosses, we all have bad days, and we all want to have it our way. I think that’s the beauty of this song; it speaks about depression in such a realistic way.
Being a kid watching Batman and loving Nigma. When this song comes on in his apt i would always say "I want an apt like his" & "I love this song". As a kid, little did I know as an adult how much more I'd need this song in my everyday life. Helps me get through my days. I'm 31 now. Makes all the sense now loving this song as a kid subconsciously knowing I'd need it forever. 💚 Love u guys!!! #stayingasleeplatekuzyousaid 😁
+María Florencia Cardozo I Get sad whenever I listen to anything they've done after At War With the Mystics. Tragic how they crawled up their own backsides and went all "scary" and just stopped writing tunes.
I’ve always liked this song but after living a bit of a rough life in my twenties and finally coming out of the other side of that I can honestly say I love this song even more. This video fills my heart with joy. Love you guys
Is it just me, or could I just listen to those two jangly guitar runs in the intro over and over and over? Something so soothing about it that sets the tone for the entire song. Reminds me of night time and city lights.
Wayne, congratulations on your success. You rode out all trials and tribulations. You fucking survived everyone. Good for you man. Keep it up. I witnessed one of our shows. It was the greatest birthday party that i never attended. Haha! You inspire. Keep it up.
This is one of my ALL-TIME FAVORITE songs... Such a nostalgic and for me. I'm 36 and I'll ALWAYS see 'Batman Forever' as one of the most underrated Batman films and really just an underrated film all together. 'Batman Forever' introduced me to this song. Much love from Greenfield Massachusetts USA 🇺🇲 God bless you all! ❤
I didn't know the lips until yoshimi. I spent most of their growing years in non English speaking countries. But I soon woke up to them when I came back to Britain. Now I'm looking at their work retrospectively and it's nice to see how Steven's music and Wayne's lyrics have developed. Streets ahead of the people who aspire to be their contempories.
I made an Oreo wish to add this amazinggggg band and music into James Gunns GOTG VOL 3 for DO YOU REALIZE. No joke. It happened. So righteous this group. Let's go!
Christ, look how young he is in this. I've probably seen Ryan Adams live more than any other band or person. The last time was when he was doing the acoustic solo tour. It was awesome because he rarely did anything acoustic with the band, even the songs that were acoustic on the studio albums.
Still have the frames of those bikes That I built for this video. My leg even made it in a shot. Fun times filming that day. Strange life it has been.....
The one minute mark reminds me of the time when I first heard this song in Batman....I'd been working with my Dad selling cars on his lot, and HATED life....what I wouldn't give to take a trip back there....love and miss you Dad, I didn't realize how good I had it, I'm SO glad you were my father and we had, on the whole, a good relationship! I can't wait to see you again! John 3:16
I thought it was good that they didn't focus on Harvey Dent too much in this one because it would be too much to focus on if they brought in Two Face. But I liked that they had him briefly to give more realism to it being Gotham.
@@jwhite1016aolNo, not “wrong AF”. The role of “producer” in film is an extremely broad title. It can be someone who co-financed the film, a studio executive, or the sole creative force behind the project. Sometimes a producer may have complete control of a project, and other times have none. In Burton’s case for Batman Forever, he was named as a “producer”, as basically a ‘Thank You + Severance Pay’ because the studio did not want him back after Batman Returns caused some controversy with parents. Tim Burton had exactly ZERO creative influence on Batman Forever. This is a verifiable FACT.
It just hit me: in the beginning of the video, when they hang the receivers over the lamps by the cords so they won’t get interrupted in the morning when they sleep in; there are people who have been born now that won’t get that reference, and have no clue of the practice...
My sister bought me the Batman Forever VHS for Christmas when it was new. At 11yrs old, I knew I dug this song but never knew who it was or consciously sought it out. Years later I started listening to The Flaming Lips. I had already heard the Yoshimi album, but it wasn't until the final track on Clouds Taste Metallic, my childhood came rushing back and I suddenly knew I was fan.

New trailer for Baskets~ with Anderson and Galifianakis was playing this and it took me two days to remember who did it, let alone the name! - Great tune btw, and thanks for publishing it!
You know what? I've heard this song during an Italian movie called "Metti la nonna in freezer" and suddenly I realized that I heard this on Batman Forever ...and now I'm here
This was my first Flaming Lips song back at age 5. As much as I love this song, It's hard not to imagine a flying establishing shot of Edward Nigma's studio apartment...
Tuwonwon Ikr lol
It’s such an innocent scene, even if you knew Edward snapped.
That's the first scene I think of when I think of this song. I can't unsee it.
he even had a neon cross word puzzle sign by his window, this man was destined to snap
Exactly, Batman forever. Defines my childhood

"You hate your boss at your job,
But in your dreams you can blow his head off"
I love that line lol
In your dreams show no mercy!
Yet Edward did something much worse to Stickley in Batman Forever.
I really hated my boss...

Clouds Taste Metallic is such a masterpiece. My favorite Lips record.
As a kid this song was funny. It hits a whole lot differently 20 years later.
This song is great. Happy sounding but sadistic.
