      @@mr.awesome8021 It's called strobing. If you wave your hand under a strobe light, your hand is in one position, the light goes off, comes back on, and it's in a slightly different position. In order to do this move really well, you literally have to twitch your whole body in unison. So he's basically "starting and stopping" his body really fast while moving. Just like a strobe light, your brain thinks you're moving in slow motion.

    The swirly-wirly body moves were great. But then he pulls off that stop motion thing which kind of messes with your mind. Very effective. Was 23 when I first saw this. Now 42. Bloody hell.

      thanks, always wondered if there was a name for it. even more mind-bending is that he’s strobing only with his hands and arms while the lower half of his body is moving perfectly fluidly and in “slow motion”. so it’s like suddenly time is moving in two different directions, then back to normal lol

      Secondly, it is still one of the greatest dances on the internet - the dancer was ahead of his time when this happened in 2001.
      And thirdly, this video circulated the internet in the early 2000s and is still doing it now. Maybe it's nostalgia, maybe it's the dance moves, but the fact it still trends proves its one of the greatest.

    I remember seeing this video in high school (~2006) and being mesmerized. I don't think I've seen the video since then until now. There are many dance videos on the Internet these days on a variety of platforms, yet none of them compare to this. That slow-motion / digital stutter (as someone else called it) gets me every time. Those moves the originators did back then were duplicated and innovated on to where we get guys like this kid. There are millions of dancing videos on the internet and likely none of them did the same style this guy did. You know David Elsewhere became a huge choreographer and was supposed to do choreography for the This Is It tour for Michael Jackson? He was THAT respected in the dance world.
