From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
ClamTk is a free software graphical interface for the ClamAV command line antivirus software program, for Linux desktop users. It provides both on-demand and scheduled scanning. The project was started by Dave Mauroni in February 2004 and remains under development.[2][3][4]
ClamTk was originally written using the Tk widget toolkit, for which it is named, but it was later re-written in Perl, using the GTK toolkit. The interface has evolved considerably over time and recent versions are quite different than early releases, adding features and changing the interface presentation. It is dual-licensed under the GNU General Public License version 1 or later, and the Artistic License

FYI, ClamAV (ClamTK is the GUI frontend that is using clamav basically) is used for mailservers attachment scanning, so it does not really give you any active threat protection outside of e-mail scanning, which we all open within browsers. Clamav is mainly intended to use for servers, but not desktop users. It does provide that false positive "safe" feeling if you have it installed, but unless you're working with email servers, there's no use of this program.
Maybe semi useful RUclips tip from the perspective of a consumer, I almost didn't click on your video because of the red thumbnail border, I thought I already watched it. Edit: Never seen ur channel before this was just recommended looks like it's the only one like that lol
I don't use an antivirus, but if you run a tool like Lynis security auditing tool for Linux, they advise to use it and use a rootkit scanner too.
Never had a virus or rootkit on Linux and I’ve been using since 2006. But I only use it at home.
@@ezramiller8296 Same for me.
Dave M., the author of ClamTK has retired and abandoned the project. According his most recent post, he was in a traffic accident. He said he is in too much pain to continue coding.
I don't know much about Linux, but I want to learn.
I use ClamTK just for the fun of it hahaha and UFW Limiting CUPS and any Port 22 just in case one of my 5 PC is being hacked preventing others being attacked.
i found clam to have an awful UI and to be very slow is there anything else?
i usually upload files to virustotal if i need a second opinion
I've taken it from synaptic myself and put it on Linux mint ClamTK
good news for linux libre office - From The Register
German state ditches Windows Microsoft Office for Linux & LibreOffice Schleswig-Holstein Germany's most northern state is starting its switch from Microsoft Office to LibreOffice & is planning to move from Windows to Linux on the 30kPCs it uses for local gov
Until Microsoft relocates an office again, we have been through this at least once already.
Some people might call them lobby ws.
@@fgregerfeaxcwfeffece Germany is late, India did this 2 years ago, and then Microsoft offers all their software for free to all the IT universities. Just to keep them used to it. India, most of the IT universities refused. Now a lot off Linux development comes from India, Germany is hosting several servers and their famous Knoppix OS
That always gives FALSE positives.
