I will definitely be tuning in to see your weekly videos! I have some knowledge of music theory and limited ability to play on the piano. I hunt through RUclips for ideas of what to practice and how to improve only to find that everything is either too elementary or too advanced. I don’t know what I need to know. Mostly, I want to play a melody with the right hand and something interesting to go with the melody with my left hand. Hand independence is probably something I really need to improve on.

9 years??? Wow, that's a long time! Was it really so long? I still miss the old letter lessons :( how do you note things down now to remember songs? I still look through the midi or the ones with chords and write it all down like the very first songs you had ( still the best way to recall song after a longer time of not playing it ). I wish I had more time to play piano :( 5-10 min a day is way too little. One day I will be old and the kid will not need me and then I will look again through all your great lessons and learn way more :) you are my favorite piano teacher!

I know that you were saying you're not making a ton of money from RUclips, but I just wanted to say that you might find some small consolation in knowing that you are creating such incredible value in the world by providing this information to people at no cost. I have wanted to play piano forever, but we never had the money to pay for lessons. This has brought so much joy into my life to have one easy source where I can learn piano. I'm sure there are so many people who feel the same way who don't have the money to pay to learn. How to practice inversions and be able to recognize them when watching the chords progression. It would be awesome if you could also talk to us about some techniques that you find useful to practice. Sometimes struggling with one song can be very upsetting and would be nice to understand the steps to get over.

I'm buying myself one for Christmas, I'm 24 and since the age of .... idk 7 I wanted it but somehow never have done it. Everybody were encouraging me to go to the music school claiming that the "long fingers" (I do have kind of big alien hands, maybe claws) are the key :'''D but I was a shy kid, avoiding company and could not perform ever. Been trying to learn a few Church songs years ago but with no knowledge of notes or anything, just pure memorization... and that way is so hard and I got intimidated a lot. Even tough they say when you get older it's harder actually I feel like my hands are much more skilled now after years of working as a programmer. Back then I could not get them to work independently and my left one was useless xD. I don't yet know if fast typing skill has anything to do with piano. So..... it's a SUBSCRIBE... and I hope it works. (still, I regret a bit that my parents didn't push me harder to go to the music school back then)
Well fast typing is definitely something that is in the same 'area' as playing piano in the sense that you need good motor skill in your fingers in order to be able to do so. It's also good to learn to move your fingers independently, however at typing we always hit one key at the same time only in contrast with playing piano of course. That's awesome!! So excited to do the circle of fifths!! I actually joined skillshare because I'm planning on doing your courses on there. I'm sort of in the early intermediate stage, but I would love a video on super basic things like posture and how we should be using our fingers on the keys (bent, straight, something in between??). I would like to make sure I have a good foundation and that I don't have a terrible way of using my hands that will impede me in the future. Would also love to know how you are supposed to figure out fingering. How do you know what position your hands should be in for playing the notes (I mean how you have to change the position of your hands as you go up and down the keyboard, if that makes sense) or does it matter. Marks Piano - PGN Piano Thanks Mark... Is this class broken down by levels? I’m at the advanced stage. Taught myself to play piano in middle school once I learned to play flute and saxophone. But I didn’t learn proper technique and fingering and stopped playing for several years due to life’s distractions. 🤷🏽♂️ 😔 So now I’m coming back to my first love to learn proper technique. 9 years??? Wow, that's a long time! Was it really so long? I still miss the old letter lessons :( how do you note things down now to remember songs? I still look through the midi or the ones with chords and write it all down like the very first songs you had ( still the best way to recall song after a longer time of not playing it ). I wish I had more time to play piano :( 5-10 min a day is way too little. One day I will be old and the kid will not need me and then I will look again through all your great lessons and learn way more :) you are my favorite piano teacher!

I know that you were saying you're not making a ton of money from RUclips, but I just wanted to say that you might find some small consolation in knowing that you are creating such incredible value in the world by providing this information to people at no cost. I have wanted to play piano forever, but we never had the money to pay for lessons. This has brought so much joy into my life to have one easy source where I can learn piano. I'm sure there are so many people who feel the same way who don't have the money to pay to learn.

Waiting for next Sunday! I've just made the your course and it's amazing! The topic I would like to year is inversions. How to practice inversions and be able to recognize them when watching the chords progression. It would be awesome if you could also talk to us about some techniques that you find useful to practice. Sometimes struggling with one song can be very upsetting and would be nice to understand the steps to get over.

I'm buying myself one for Christmas, I'm 24 and since the age of .... idk 7 I wanted it but somehow never have done it. Everybody were encouraging me to go to the music school claiming that the "long fingers" (I do have kind of big alien hands, maybe claws) are the key :'''D but I was a shy kid, avoiding company and could not perform ever. Been trying to learn a few Church songs years ago but with no knowledge of notes or anything, just pure memorization... and that way is so hard and I got intimidated a lot. Even tough they say when you get older it's harder actually I feel like my hands are much more skilled now after years of working as a programmer. Back then I could not get them to work independently and my left one was useless xD. I don't yet know if fast typing skill has anything to do with piano. So..... it's a SUBSCRIBE... and I hope it works. (still, I regret a bit that my parents didn't push me harder to go to the music school back then)
Well fast typing is definitely something that is in the same 'area' as playing piano in the sense that you need good motor skill in your fingers in order to be able to do so. It's also good to learn to move your fingers independently, however at typing we always hit one key at the same time only in contrast with playing piano of course. I'm sort of in the early intermediate stage, but I would love a video on super basic things like posture and how we should be using our fingers on the keys (bent, straight, something in between??). I would like to make sure I have a good foundation and that I don't have a terrible way of using my hands that will impede me in the future.
Would also love to know how you are supposed to figure out fingering. How do you know what position your hands should be in for playing the notes (I mean how you have to change the position of your hands as you go up and down the keyboard, if that makes sense) or does it matter. Marks Piano - PGN Piano Thanks Mark... Is this class broken down by levels? I’m at the advanced stage. Taught myself to play piano in middle school once I learned to play flute and saxophone.
