Facing a white belt with wrestling experience isn’t much of a flex, them white belts don’t be having wrestling experience and just know the basic submission. Last guy would’ve hit a crucifix if he was smart and the other guy would’ve finished the triangle choke if he had more experience.
@@JacobTracy-nw6du No, it's like a high school state baseball champion batter going into a cricket match. Yeah, there's overlap but it isn't the same game.
100%. In fact one reason why Judo banned leg grabs was that wrestlers kept moving into Judo and dominating. That being said, this dude isn't just a wrestler, he's a state champ, so some discretion there.
This just shows that wrestling is a superpower, and that Josh’s lower back is made of concrete. How many times he was hunched over and still blasted through for the take down, that’s a wrestlers lower back
Josh is a beast. Btw super grateful for your detailed, articulate and knowledgeable commentary..without which this would have been very entertaining but I'd have no idea what's actually going on lol
This was a fun video to watch. I did wrestling for two years in high school and now am a blue belt in BJJ. My instincts told me to do similar things to Josh. My short time as a wrestler definitely influenced my game today.
Well done brother! epic work! proving the importance of wrestling in jiu jitsu training!! I feel like my rugby heritage as a wee fella helped my jiu jitsu similar to wrestlers crossing over too, knowing how to physically take your opponent down and be comfortable doing it makes so much difference. very cool to see!
Or doing BOTH rugby and grappling. Like Laetitia Blot who retired for a while to study English in Australia. While in Australia she learned to play rugby and Australian rules football. Later return to judo and then forced out so went into freestyle wrestling and sambo. Later did MMA with bases in bjj and luta Livre ( catch wrestling and judo).
Woahhh CT wrestling gang I totally didn't realize that. Super sick, Ive been watching your vids and wrestled for Farmington 2016-19, was totally caught off guard when I saw our old singlets pop up in the beginning of the vid
Nice video! I love gi and no gi! Josh did well as white belt. Normally people with judo or wrestling experience are not allowed for beginners competitions.
Now put him in nogi naga competition. Where ALL kinds of submissions allowed. Including neck cranks( catch wrestling cross face) and spine locks (Including Boston 🦀 LOL 🤣).
I want to start wrestling. What do you advise me to start with? Wrestling, judo, or jiu-jitsu. Please respond. I am very confused, knowing that I have a judo background
Try wrestling. Preferably freestyle wrestling. Laetitia Blot after leaving judo( they made her leave after she was "too old" in her THIRTIES) went to freestyle wrestling then later went into sambo and MMA. Now does MMA with background training in bjj and Luta Livre ( catch wrestling and judo).
Years ago, I won a US OPEN, PAN AMS, Black belt NAGA, SEVERAL GRAPPLING X'S TOURNEY'S VS guys who were 10+ years younger than me. Went to worlds in my age group, but unfortunately I had only 1 opponent in my weight class. Then I had to take off about 7+ years. Went to worlds in Vegas as a Blue Belt dropped 20+lbs for the tournament & ended up taking 2nd😢. Haven't competed since. I miss it everyday, but my family is much more important. If you want to win , you need to practice practice.
Wrestlers fighting in a jiu jitsu match with no jiu jitsu knowledge is straight entertainment 🤣
tf you mean no jiu jitsu knowledge, He goes against many belts in jiu jitsu during his training

@@who7950 lol saw that too
He is facing rookie ass ppl and bro is a state champ, thats like a 2nd degree black going against the high school team

It's a superpower of life

Bro isnt that Guy a state champ Wrestler? This is Like letting a bjj blackbelt fight an Wrestler with 1 year Wrestling expetience 😂
Josh showed just how important athleticism really is. Those instincts were great but his drive was beyond any ordinary amateur athlete
That's the the drive of an wrestler, BJJ guys are just slow paced
Most descent hs wrestlers have that same drive.
Truly! 👊👊✊✊👏👏👌👌
@@onion8216 Indeed. 👌👌
That was incredible. The amount of determination he showed during those double leg takedowns was amazing.

Much respect. Wrestlers have a great mentality and never quit

i wrestled on the same team as the kid who got second, i wrestled for new milford. i thought ryan wrestled for rhode island. crazy
Beast - you don’t become a state champ wrestler without being a true champion
Hi, Tariq here. Any chance I could get a rematch??
Next time Josh is in town we’ll sign him up for another tournament so you can clash again 💪
Eyy Tariq 👊🏽 sorry missed you at Roger’s seminar. Hope you n Josh get to square up again ✌️

Good job Josh! Damn I need to work more on my wrestling
Awesome video!
Used to lift at the same gym as Josh, he's a super strong kid, that has been properly displayed in this vid especially the final match
It makes my day when you upload
You’re a beast Josh, a seasoned Blue Belt with Wrestling, you scare me haha
Josh, you are a stud dude. I don’t know why but I instinctively root for wrestlers over BJJ in mma fights. So this was entertaining to watch.
I was just about to look up Gi vs No Gi ..i remember hearing it in an Eddie Bravo / Smoke Serpent song but then you explained it.
Now put him in nogi naga competition. Where ALL kinds of submissions allowed. Including neck cranks( catch wrestling cross face) and spine locks (Including Boston 🦀 LOL 🤣).
Great video, now I am interested in a match between the Ryan and Josh.
There’s one on the page! And more to come!
Congrats josh🎉
I knew he'd do good. Called it in your short before I watched this. His wrestling skills are top notch!
Way to go JOSH and the RUclipsr creator!

THATS AMAZING
Enjoyed this video and great editing
Lol idk if I've seen a video make me smile the whole time especially when he beat the final boss. Haha
We have a white belt in our gym that wrestled in HS / college. That guy is a menace to us other whites / blues / purples.
Josh you’re the man way to represent all wrestlers out there!!
Exciting to watch..nice work kid
Wrestler win all Ju Jitsu matches with no submission, only takedown and sidecontrol 😂😂😂
I found you off a random TikTok clip but I love the content and just started ju jitsu last week

I would just stand up and takedown over and over to earn points, no one can stop his takedowns
Fun video - osss!
Real ones know that Naga comp was in march In Upland, CA
Hell yeah
You see how Dangerous the Mindset of a Wtestler is against relatively Inexperienced Grapplers.

Well done Josh!
looks like none of the competitors had any experience

Two lifelong friends. I'd like to see Josh compete in no-gi, after getting some BJJ training.
What a unit!
I would’ve wanted a band no funny 😭
Hell ya, josh. Well done
shows that wrestlers are both the strongest and fastest by far especially pound for pound, they are a nightmare.
