Well Andrew you out did your self again! Your directing and photography is going more from hobby to something serious and well noted. BRAVO. Nice stone work. Looks Italiano, haha!
1938, Harvey Fite, one of the founders of the Bard College Fine Arts Department, purchased an abandoned quarry in the town of Saugerties, NY, in Ulster County, about 100 miles north of New York City. During a period of 37 years, he created the monumental world-acclaimed 6½-acre bluestone sculpture now known as Opus 40. ...supposedly he never finished it...?
I was part of a team of dry stone wallers in 2016 who rebuilt the section at the bottom left corner at 7:10 that had collapsed. I live in Maine but was born and raised near Opus 40 and really enjoyed getting back there for that project. I've been building dry stone walls professionally since 1992 and probably owe at least some of my obsession to some early visits to this place. Great video!
Andy..reason you are one of my favorite tubers is that you are multifaceted..intelligent..and have an insatiable quest for knowledge..and you are not afraid of taking a chance...keep up this eclectic character..and never stop yearning for the new..and old..wisdom is power..
Wow!!😺 it is so cool to see Drone footage of this place that I've visited once. One interesting thing was that pool at 6:31 actually had a deep section at the end for people to Dive into. There is Reminence of the 8' broken down dive board around the sprinkler that you can't see from here that they used back in the days. I have a little footage of my own channel. But nothing like this😺
Harvey Fite had a very interesting history. Amazing that he built all that by hand any only used basic had tools, winch and booms. Sort of reminds me of Primitive Technology guy on YT. Very unfortunate about his accidental fall that lead to his death... Thank you very much for sharing.
Yes, that Primitive Technology guy is cool. Andrew and PT guy - best channels on RUclips. Pretty amazing stone sculpture for sure. Perfect for the drone footage. We had a crazy guy like that down here in S Florida too. Built something called the coral castle. coralcastle.com/
Wow what an amazing beautiful space! And great footage. Thanks for sharing! Has this place inspired you to do something similar on your property? PS: Also love how your dog is always sheepishly bumbling around in your shots haha
Andrew Hiiii! what is the meaning behind this ENORMOUS work ...? I don't like this waste of energy and time .......far too heavy ! The music is too nice in comparaison ......! 38 years with stones in the head ...That's a lot of stones ! But thanks for the video !!! Warm regards !
Andrew, two thumbs up from the Lone Star State! Love all your videos and all of your projects! Not only are you talented in your line of work, your videography is amazing along with the music you choose to use! Keep the videos coming!
Fantastic space and the composition of your video was Kewl! I was amazed at your flying ability, squeezing through those tight trenches, I was expecting a vent at the end. ;-) I was hoping water would emerge from the pillar's top and see the route it would take? I have a feeling whatever difficulties there were, there was an artist's love for the subject. ;-) Thank-you for creating the video and sharing it.
Wonderful, thank you for sharing Andrew. Seen some great sculpture parks around Europe, and a few weeks ago Tippet Rise in Montana. I kept thinking that it should have a moat (defensive canal) like Scottish castles: one for you to try at yours!
Thank YOU for this remarkable video of the Hugh park with the pics also of Levi. This is a truly wonderful way to video scenes and have them here on RUclips. Good work! 11-9-2019
So cool! Such well put together structures that fit so cleanly & neatly together. And video & music that do the same. Well done! Thanks for the video and for the info link. Cool place. Must visit.
Thank you for the use of "Waltz of the Flowers" in your video. Tchaikovsky would have been proud. A beautiful park which I've seen in other NY travelogues. Levi seemed to enjoy it too, although the water might have been too warm for him.
Well, I see you are taking some inspiration from Stanley Kubrick in your film making and editing. The scene in 2001, A Space Odyssey where the ship from Earth is traveling to the space station - Kubrick uses the same music. Your drone flying around the park is superb.
Hello Andrew, I enjoy your videos very much. Do you live in the woodstock area in New York. It's very beautiful... thanks it really looks like a great place to live and work. Keep up the great work....
I learned about bluestone by watching Andrews channel. I've learned every landowner in NY deals with bluestone. Some use it to fence or wall in an area or that some use it to build pictures, sculpt gardening. Most importantly, I've learned that for the machines that tangle with it, they suffer twist and snaps like pretzels and there is where Andrew come in.
Beautiful classical background music and not uncommon in your wonderful videos so I have to assume you played an instrument in high school. Probably participated in orchestra and thus have an appreciation for REAL music. Using Levi for size comparison was a great idea and very professionally done. Thanks
I filmed a ton of stuff this week, haven't had time to edit, plus I want to wait of a few jobs for a shot a few weeks after to really make a good completed video.
Love the contrast between the dog and the rocks.
Well Andrew you out did your self again! Your directing and photography is going more from hobby to something serious and well noted.
BRAVO.
Nice stone work. Looks Italiano, haha!
Wow, what a nice hidden place to go see. Thx for posting!

Yeah, Opus40 is nice.
So when are you gonna build your own? =P
Have you seen that blue stone retaining wall he built on his property. It's awesome.

Andrew, you must be inspired by this. Like I said before; I can see your place clad in stone one day.
Beautiful. And Levi says "A pool ! Let's go swimming!!!"

Awesome video! Loved the drama, the hard stone and steel and in the meantime the furry dog walking around!!!
Looks like the set piece of a fantasy film.
Yes, Opus 40 is very cool
Serious amount of work right there. Skilled hands can use that blue stone effectively and beautifully.
This is what I picture you land looking like someday but with a castle and a hot tub in a grotto
Your not you lol
