Having voiced Garvey for Dormitabis back when I was in the early years of High School (Possibly Sophomore, I couldn't tell you in particular) even I was aware of how horrible the plot point of Suzie's rape and murder was. Back when I was sent the lines to voice and saw that I was meant to explicitly state that he had assaulted her sexually, I outright refused to state it as it was written.
I even remember getting an email back after sending in that voice recording being asked if I could read the line as it was written, which I immediately refused to do.
Since I was incredibly young at the time I was too blinded by the concept of getting to voice in a cool new and anticipated FNaF Fangame that I had believed I should instead only imply it through differing wording, which of course did not make it any better lmao.
And hearing you call him a self-insert really did hit me in the soul in a way I did not expect, because after all this time I had somehow not found those exact words to describe it.
I'm glad that the plot point was trashed and rubbed into the dirt in the way it deserved to be, even if it unfortunately overshadowed all the other talent that went into making the game possible.
So thank you for keeping attention on that awful mistake of story writing so that it may not be repeated.

After Jollibee’s got taken down, it made me rethink how I would make my Fangame idea. This included redesigning the main character to be his own character rather than being based off a preexisting character.

The creator of Dormitabis is undeniably a horrible person. However, I do still have a lot of admiration for the game itself, it has some of the creepiest and most creative animatronic designs I’ve ever seen, and the concept of being set in purgatory is really cool. I hope a game of a similar nature, with an actual decent human as it’s developer comes out some day

I love the game, and Garvey was my favorite "afton" character. I liked how it was a darker version, as well as the design was amazing. Then I learned he was a "self insert" of the creator. I still love the design, and he is still my favorite. I just hate the creator.

Damn i knew this community was in deep water but not like this... Just a few minutes ago I thought Dormitabis was a top tier fnaf fan game. (I was young so I didn't remember that whole Garvey plot until I watched this video.) Really puts things into perspective... Thanks for this video, and keep up the great work.

I believe that The Return To Freddy’s was also controversial due to the game originally being called FNAF 3 Fan Made, and because of the game using stolen assets from (and trying to smush together) the first 2 FNAF games.
Also the whole Dormitabis and Nichie/Blackout situation is all sorts of fucked up!

Out of all the fangames I enjoyed the most, it's Dayshift at Freddy's. It's surprisingly the only one that made me feel different emotions from humored to sad once you realize it's over. The sense of humor was unabashedly hilarious, holding nothing back like most fangames or even Security Breach have. The story was surprisingly deep for something you otherwise wouldn't pay much attention to, and the game mechanics were very fine tuned. You can tell unlike with a lot of fan games coming out now, this is the one the dev or devs had a lot of fun with.
A close second favorite is Treasure Island in 2020, which was so well crafted and so intriguing and horrifying that I think I'm more hyped for a sequel to that instead of a remake of the first FNAF game or an official fnaf sequel. Same goes for Porkchop's Adventure, which is short, only has one jumpscare, but does a very VERY good job at making you uneasy with the graphics and sound design
Funnily enough DSAF was my first introduction to visual novels, managing to blur the line between shitposting and compelling storytelling with tons of secrets, truly one of a kind.
Dayshift at Freddy’s 3 has been my favorite FNaF fan game since it’s release.
I did fucking NOT expect to get emotionally attached to the Dayshift characters, but my gosh did that third game hit me like a truck. I recommend that series to anyone who hasn't played them yet.
DSAF was… wow. It’s like if Mary Shelley and a comedian collabed. (Not really, but y’know, the feels the drama mixed with hilarious humor). The phone guys stories in DSAF3 and the good ending for DSAF3 hurt the most. I won’t go too into detail for spoilers, but BRO I cried. Spoilers, but the good ending was like saying “hey look, you want to be happy? Fuck you”. The phone guys stories were insane. More spoilers, I kinda suck at not spoiling when talking about things I’m passionate about, but Harry and Roger.. I’m pretty sure not even therapy can save them. One is a traumatized veteran with memory loss, and the other is too fixated on being another person even if it means changing themselves completely.
This was way too long but I love DSAF
Will admit was happy to see Wario up their with Candy and Popgoes and all of the big names in the thumbnail. Five Nights at Warios is underrated. The first game may be just a simple FNAF 1 reskin, but every other game since has been completely unique and just flat out fun!
Fnaw is the definition that you don’t need a good art style with ripped assets and stock images. You just need fun and clever gameplay.

I knew most of the last layer ones, but the last two entries are things that will stick to me forever. Something sad though is that dormitabis was one of my most favorite fnaf fan games, but when I knew about that, I did not know whether or not I should still consider it one of my favorite fnaf games.
I think you can still appreciate the gameplay/art itself in spite of the disgusting story/creator aspects, at least that’s how I try going about the whole situation :[
It was actually my favorite fangame until I discovered the lore and the creator.
Its game plays was always fun and original, the designs were awesome and the game had its own charm.
But honestly, I almost vomited after discovering the disgusting creator and lore.

Admittedly, I’d never heard about the Nicchi situation until now, and it’s absolutely horrible. I remember watching Dawko’s playthrough of Dormitabis a while back and being so unsettled about the SA plot point, especially being a victim of it myself, but learning what the dev did makes it even worse. On top of that, I could hear the genuine pain in your voice, and it just shook me to my core. I’m probably never going to even touch Dotmitabis after the fuckery I just learned about.
Yea I don’t blame you for your decision. Because as much as I like the game (albeit mostly because of golden Freddy in that game) I’m probably not going to touch that game with a 1000ft pole for at least a few years.

His main plan was for it to be about working in a McDonalds Factory while being hunted by Chris, whom would blow up the building at the end after realizing he had nothing left in life. Despite being cancelled, Malrat still considers the second version of Mac Tonight 3 canon via the 2nd Anniversary Edition’s ending.
I dont think that jolly deserved to be rejected from the fanverse. Even if Jolly is based of Jollibee,all the other characters are original. Even when the real Jollibee restaurant send a copyright to the 2 Jollibee games,they were ok with Jolly.

I think controversial topics like r@pe and p3doph1lia are acceptable to put into a story as long as it's done properly, and I will give credit that there is no victim blaming or any of those aspects, just a clear cut story of it happening. I think it's an over-censoring mindset for people to not like those themes in stories at all, especially considering Fnaf is already a dark story about child murd3r so a fangame exploring that is actually an interesting and dark story. HOWEVER, the creator of the game himself is fucking disgusting and needs to burn in the deepest pit of hell. It's upsetting to see that this is in fact reality and I empathise with every victim that had to face this depraved man, but that also proves my point that we NEED more stories about representing victims of these tragedies in the correct and respectful way. Victims of child abvse and adult as victims get blamed and stigmatized, especially male victims as society favors women victims and "favors" (for lack of better word I don't mean it literally) male offenders. That's my take.

Saying Jolibee's is famous in this country is a huge understatement. And considering most of the FNAF fandom is western, it's really neat.

The Pear scares me. it's probably one of my number one fears in joining fandom, especially sub-fandoms dedicated to art-making. That all these nice and cool people you've met and enjoyed time with were all secretly acting out their highschool bully fantasies and tearing the community apart from the inside, and no one knew what was happening (or could say) until someone from inside was wronged _just enough_ to come clean. Only when it had inconvenienced them that we can all be free.
I've seen it happen a lot more lately, from other fandoms I'm not in. In those cases, it is more like actual highschoolers pretending to be highschool bullies in a community with mixed age ranges. When I took a break from FNAF I got into PaRappa The Rapper, and something like that almost happened on an amino I was super active in, but I was able to alert the mod team before it fully went into effect (thank god).
I just don't want that. I hate it so much...why can't we have nice things...
As a fan of Dormitabis and knowing it’s fucked lore I don’t say this to be insensitive but it never bothered me that much, it unnerves me NOW knowing Nicchi is a degenerate who deserves to rot away and used Garvey as a self insert but still the idea of purple guy being a nonce never really shook me up, I think if it was actually executed right and wasn’t for pure shock value it would have been received much better because in my opinion as a writer there is absolutely nothing wrong with including topics like rape or pedophilia in your story (Berserk handles the idea of rape and healing from it MASTERFULLY), it’s when it’s used for shock value is when there’s an issue like Dormitabis (and a really infamous creepypasta Clockwork). I think the writers should have handled the topic more carefully and more mature but I disagree wholeheartedly with the idea of just scrapping it from the story.
But rather then that, great video homie! Really enjoyed it.

Saw some mistakes in the video, but the one I want to focus currently as of watching is at 50:41 regarding RIT80's. Aside from the fact that the plot You mentioned is actually from a different cancelled version of that game, there never was a virus in the game. Initially the coder thought that His cracked version of Clickteam was infested by a trojan, however this turned out to be a false flag as even with other Clickteam games had suffer false flagging from most anti-virus software systems due to unknown sensitive reasons from the Clickteam engine

I think it's really impressive how fanf fan games we're able to put such a huge impression on the community, starting off with five nights at candy's many people started creating good games and unique ones as even some of them being refrenced in the official fnaf game P.S: dormitabis story was messed up, and i feel like the story was done intentionally because of the game being so dark and creepy (still one of my favourites though) and it's quite sad how jolly was cancelled from the fnaf fan verse as it's still to this day one of the most popular and unique fnaf fan game to ever hit gamejolt.
I’m pretty sure if they cut the rape moment out of Dormitabis, I would’ve been an amazing story and a great alternate fnaf finale, at least the game is getting a resurgence in the Spanish community and is being remade by a non pedophile on gamejolt.

You know FNAC and Popgoes could become Canon or Semi-Canon to FNAF with some proper adjustments like Simon Fitzgerald being a person who was inspired by Henry and William to make his own restaurant and also Candy's could solve Gregory's origin like he could be Micheal Afton's Grandson because Micheal could've married Mary Schmidt and had Marlyn Schmidt as his daughter which would make Gregory, Marlyn's son. So Candy's and Popgoes could become canon to Regular FNAF?
Imagine if DSAF was in the fazbear fanverse initiative. It would be one of my most awaited game in the initiative.

I’ll be honest, compared to what other content creators have done and got away with, I’ll say John is one of the better ones.
As far as I know, he reconciled with the victim who accepted his apology, he understood his mistakes, and he has gotten off the Internet to better.
And I’m not defending him but I’m glad he took responsibility. It at least makes me feel a bit better about the entire situation but still a massive shame that he fumbled everything like that

Not sure why the recent fanverse controversy with Ultranite, Mechlus, and Ramenov was so low as it's pretty well known. Is it just me or do part of the fan games have a lot of controversy around it, making it bad and/or it's good and the creators behind it are good people, they just end up getting tied up with all the bad stuff? For the love of something, can't we just receive a game with amazing storytelling and a game dev with 0 controversy?! I hate loving a game to pieces then finding out the person who made it is super awful...

The fact that phisnom *disliking* a game is considered a controversy is some genshin fan level of "being mad for the sake of it."
I find it interesting, Jonochrome apologized and regrets what he's done, being mature enough to admit that he was in the wrong and seeking help (not only that but the girl forgave him since aparently he never forced her to do anything that maked her unconfortable, just sad that people harassed her for forgiving him to the point of her deleting her account), while Nicchi NEVER apologized (not like that would matter but it would be something) continued to do terrible stuff, never seeked help, and maked multiple people unconfortable (including you), while i don't care that rape was in the game, since depending on how it's done it can be a good plot point, when we take into account what he's done, everything just feels aweful and it really feels like he self inserted himself.
Both Jonochrome and Nicchi commited the same terrible crime, but one had was mature enough to admit being wrong, the other one was childhis who probably continues to do wrong.

Very detailed video. Also Tyler, It would've been nice if you included Lazada Polidi in the iceberg. He was a person who created a fake fnaf 4 2D side scroller on the app store and charged $9.99 for it.
Personally I believe that although there have been some problems that occured over the Fanverse, such as the Pear and misinformation about it being dead etc, I still think it's an amazing thing for Scott to help out determined FNaF fangame creators by allowing them to actually get the love and credit they deserve including things like merch and console ports. It's just more evidence that Scott is such a good person. I haven't seen anyone do something as big as this with their game before. Can't wait to play some fangames on my playstation and get some cool merch from my favourite fangane characters!

Ya know, I knew that the fnaf community was kind of a mixed bag of both greats thing and terrible things but this video has definitely helped me realize that even further.
y'know, for a developer who made a game about being hunted by killer robots possessed by dead children that wanna stuff you into a suit where the only thing that see's the day of light is your eyeballs and teeth that pop out the orifices of the animatronic mask. He's quite strict on the whole no swearing, drugs and all that jazz.
The last 2 entries were actually given all the tention they needed. The eery music and the disturbing filter actually had me to be on my couch and wrap myself in a blanket. It was that scary.

And Meanwhile I wont be like "noooo? this is not true bla bla bla", I do want to point out the whole teaser shenanigans that was related to me, and I just wanted to take this opportunity to give a good grip of context of the whole deal since you seemed interested enough to point it out.

Ok so for more in depth context of what was the deal, the description of the teaser used a very inoffensive Light A (I'm not stupid to put the Hard R in there) and the context and phrasing was not anything harmful or mean at all, the Light A can literally be used in a friendly matter, even if you say it's a swear still, the game page had a fair warning that it had use of swearing meaning people should of expected at least one word they would not see in shows like Dora the Explorer. Were talking about the FNaF game where one of the jumpscares a character crushes us with her butt, and the show itself is not suitable for all audiences either, Homer Simpson is canonically homophobic in the Show. Anyways. At the time people found that normal and just did not mind it or even had a chuckle at it, with is why it remained on the page for MONTHS while the game was receiving a lot of hype and attention, yet no one shown negative attitude about the word use as it was not malicious. Now this is when this Smiler guy comes in, you pointed out he just joined in the party and I used him as a escape goat, well, hardy har har, that's a lie people spread around to make it sound like its just my problem. So you see, back then I was friends with this Smiler guy, and by the time FTaH3 was in the makings, he was around and we were friends. But then at one point I just could not take him anymore because he had a very toxic aura around him, and then things got messy. Anyways, one day he remembered I used the Light A on the FTaH3 teaser, with he was around for when I originally made the post and he found it super funny at the time, guess he did the 180 turn fast huh? And told his community about it so they would hate and report my game, with caused it to be taken down (as confirmed by a ex friend of Smiler who later was dumped for realizing it was friends with me, this person had reported my game at the time. Nowadays this person is deeply sorry for it). I called Smiler out for using the Hard R in a actual racist context against someone because he was trying to have a go at me just for spite and I wanted to show he was no better himself. Funny thing is, at the time people would go at my profiles and be all angry at me, but as soon I provided the evidence of Smiler using the Hard R, the comments simply stopped, like a magic trick! Also you mentioned people were still pissed at me till this day for it? if I am being honest with you, I never had problems with the situation after I shown the evidence of Smiler using the Hard R, as the backlash came from his fans. And all I see relating to that is that I get once a month(at worst) a person would call me racist, with I ask for proof of their claim or if they know what racism means, with they just have nothing to work with and either say sorry or delete their post.
Also I am not asking anyone to go after Smiler, this is more of a me and him thing, so please. Don't try to harass him because of this, I just gave context for the story, I am not implying anyone should go say mean things to him or his fans.
The way the public was lead to see the situation was very distorted to sound like Smiler was not involved in it in a major scale and made it sound like I am some careless bully who is mean to everyone that gets near me. I just wanted to show up to correct the story a little, as this way it was told it feels like I just acted racist because I "found it funny". I just never really had the time to speak out the story, as everyone who attacked me from it was very blind to anything I said and would just ignore every and any point I made. So I think this is a good time to speak out the story, But I would not be impressed if I got "too much text, did not read" or "no no nonononon you are bad!!!! idc if you are telling the truth i HATE YOU >:((((((", but for the ones who cared to read and understand my situation, Thank you.

yup. it was phils fault security breach was bad. not the fact that they tried to do *way too much*, or that they have some level of incompetence when it comes to game design objectively like taking 7 months to add **a single** save point after you go for one of the proper endings, or that they basically gave up on patching the still broken game that has alot of very big issues and bugs. yea no it was one singular guy's fault.

I am not sure if you remember me from a while ago, but your videos are much better now and this was very entertaining! It brought back a lot of memories of old FNAF fan games that I forgot existed! Also I am very happy you mentioned Andiematronic, they are one of the best FNAF RUclipsrs imo, each of their videos have so much effort put into them and are very unique, I never see them brought up. I actually live in the same town as them and ran into them once which was cool. I had completely forgotten about the haunted house thing, that is so disturbing. I think Grizzly's is a pretty sad case because while yes it is political the story genuinely has good points and amazing with poorly placed jumpscares while it is tampered down by it's politics and game play there's a good story in there somewhere
i think my favorite series of fangames is the dsaf series. it's funny, and the "true endings" were actually amazing. hell, dsaf 2's true ending made me tear up. it was the first fucking game i cried at. (if that sounds baby-ish, it's because i had only played non story-driven games, and i also watched an 8-bitgaming video on the true ending when i was like 9.)
luckily though the second game i ever cried at was red dead redemption 2 (multiple times lmao) so i think that cancels it out

I remember finding that face in POPGOES back in 6th or 7th grade I think. it really did have an effect on me; the way the text disappeared and the game went quiet. I am still searching for the answer as to what that face might be. damn how it still gives me the shudders
I'm a big fan of Fun Times at Homer's and I was not expecting it to be at the bottom of the iceberg, also knowing how Nick is one of those people who use 'edgy' humor, probably understandable of him using that word as a joke for the deleted teaser

Maybe at some point IvanG can make a return in the fan game community and make a game with the same ideas as the Jollibee games but as continuations of his Jolly games with his own original characters and hopefully avoid company cancellation. He has shown to be almost a prodigy at game development with his first games having better programming and design than most fan games and I think he deserves another chance to go mainstream

God damn, that's a very solid video all around, a great way to go down memory lane and have a nice little nostalgia trip. We've went through so much as a community and all the stories, good and bad, are definitely all worth of being well kept and looked after.
I'll admit, there are a few topics in this iceberg which I wasn't even aware of before watching: I didn't know Grizzly's was a thing before watching the video (I was honestly kind of away from the community when that fangame rolled around), I didn't know Jolly was considered for the Fazbear Fanverse Initiative before watching the video. I found it's a video that has a nice and smooth tempo and you don't see time passing by while watching and listening.
I'll have to admit, I had NO IDEA of what the hell was going on with Dormitabis: I just thought people said the lore fucking sucked in the same way that people said the TRTF lore fucking sucked (which, on that matter, TRTF: The Dreadful Truth remains such a dumb fucking way to expose the lore and when I tell people about it, they genuinely can't think it's true or they straight up burst out laughing, which is understandable despite the lore being somewhat ok to begin with.) but no, boy was I far from the truth. Thanks for shining some light on that, appreciate it!

Honestly glad I watched this video and it just shows that no community is perfect especially the Fnaf and Fnaf fan game community’s with pedos, racists and many more and definitely changed my views on many different Fan games like Fun Times At Homers and domitaidontgiveafucktospellitright which is both fan games I really enjoyed and now learning what happened behind the scenes really changes your views on things
Also glad I now know what happened to Jollibees because I was sad when that game was not on gamejolt because it’s one of my top 5 favorites
It's honestly quite strange knowing that all of the games, all of the Fanverse games, all of the spin-offs, and all of the books _all_ take place in the same multiverse.
