To people that don't understand what a demo is: The demo is used to sell the instrumental to X company, lyrics and vocals are put on to give a general idea of the top-line melody and themes to be used. When X company buys the demo they'll change the lyrics, sometimes not sticking to the theme at all, sometimes sticking pretty closely.
Wait does that work for in-house producers? Because if I'm not mistaken in-house producers write the demo already sticking to the general theme, this songs produced by Kenzie, SM's in-house producer so they didn't but it since she produced it for SM specifically

Then the demo lyrics were written by Andrew Scott and Opeia. After SM got the track Kenzie re-wrote the lyrics which is why all these people are credited with working on the track. For real 100% in-house the process is mostly simple. Either in-house instrumental made and lyrics put over or lyrics first and then instrumental.

Since my video was the first lyric video of the demo to be posted, the lyrics circulated RUclips and everyone used them in their videos, covers, etc. After talking about it with my viewers and listening to the demo even more, we realized those are not the lyrics. On top of that, the singer of the demo, EJAE, confirmed on her Instagram that the lyric is “tears are almost gone”. I feel like, for the way Korean Culture is, Red Velvet and SM did good in choosing to make the song's focus more on how much the girl loves the other person even when they may have a toxic relationship (there were references, especially in the second verse) But in terms of the actual meaning of 'psycho' and the pain of it, the demo definitely caught the toxicity more in terms of being a 'psycho-in-love' with all the haziness and the references of inner-confusion (again, not trying to say that being psychotic just means crazy. there's more to it than that.) and, uh, this is just my opinion! I like the lyrics of Red Velvet's version, it's a cute, fun song in spite of its dark meaning, yet the words of the demo hit me really differently. To me, it seems to portray unrequited love that has veered toward obsession to the point it eats you up, consumes your time. It's that ugly, raw side of you that you hate but you have to acknowledge at the end of the day.

To everyone telling me it's "Could've least waited" and "Tears are on my phone" please know that only reason you think those are the lyrics is because in MY original lyric video, I put those lyrics. Since my video was the first lyric video of the demo to be posted, the lyrics circulated RUclips and everyone used them in their videos, covers, etc. After talking about it with my viewers and listening to the demo even more, we realized those are not the lyrics. On top of that, the singer of the demo, EJAE, confirmed on her Instagram that the lyric is “tears are almost gone”. Now that the full demo is out, I took the opportunity to make a full lyric video, not only with the new verses, but ALSO with lyric corrections. I hope that clears it up! Thanks for watching!

I feel like, for the way Korean Culture is, Red Velvet and SM did good in choosing to make the song's focus more on how much the girl loves the other person even when they may have a toxic relationship (there were references, especially in the second verse)
But in terms of the actual meaning of 'psycho' and the pain of it, the demo definitely caught the toxicity more in terms of being a 'psycho-in-love' with all the haziness and the references of inner-confusion
(again, not trying to say that being psychotic just means crazy. there's more to it than that.)

I like the lyrics of Red Velvet's version, it's a cute, fun song in spite of its dark meaning, yet the words of the demo hit me really differently. To me, it seems to portray unrequited love that has veered toward obsession to the point it eats you up, consumes your time. It's that ugly, raw side of you that you hate but you have to acknowledge at the end of the day.

With korean culture i don't think they will allow this kind of lyrics. Especially if the singer is idol who have a lot of young fans. South Korea is trying it best to fight suicide. I think, SM will never gonna release a song about sleeping pills and nyquil. The current lyrics is safer.
