I feel like when the followers freeze it instagrams way of confirming they are real. It happens to me sometimes, after a while it will register them in slowly. On day after my followers increased rapidly it then decreased sudden back to where it was before. All of a sudden the follower count kept increasing slowly but I wasn’t getting any new followers notification. That’s how I figured it’s instagram trying to register the account as legitimate.
