One change: You cannot imprint or change Unique items in any way besides upgrading them using the blacksmith. The statement I made at the end of the video applies to ancestral and sacred pieces but not unique. Sorry for the confusion!
If you really want to enjoy the game you would do it anyway that way you can build your character and not have to worry about the waiting until in game because 5 times you get to end game you will have better items anyway the point of the aspects is to get these nice items earlier on so that you can get through tough situations the game is not a cake walk. Unless of course you're playing on tier one. Note that even though you require materials you won't be wasting anything because everything comes naturally to you. It's really not that hard to farm for gold. You can get to a million easy with simply selling equipment. The hardest gear to form for is legendaries but if you can make them and then savage them that's even better because then you can upgrade your better equipment by using these aspects to do it come on man. Lol
In case you weren’t aware, once you put the aspect in, you can look at its tooltip and it shows any bonuses it can receive in certain slots. Seems like it would have been a good thing to tell viewers so they always knew where to look. 😁
This was really helpful. I've played D2 back in the day and D3 a bit but there's a lot to learn about all the different systems. Thanks for the explanation!
Thumbs up from me for making me aware that extraction also pulls the value of the bonus, not just the ability to be randomly rolled when reapplied. That's a literal game changer for me and my stash space.
That legendary 2-handed sword is a beast for a level 24 weapon! Almost perfect rolls on that one! Would keep as is and use on other, future new Barbarian characters you want to level up. Finding those stats combined on a weapon is extremely rare post 1.1 patch.
If you have an aspect you want but it’s not showing up for you, go to your codex and FAVORITE it! This worked for me twice in a row on aspects that just weren’t showing up (one was Aspect of the Alpha for Druid, I was level 60 and still had never seen ONE)… go to your codex and find the aspect then Favorite it, it should come very soon after! I got the item with the aspect within ten minutes of doing it TWICE in a row (different elusive aspects). Hope this helps someone!!
Codex of Power, which are the absolute lowest aspects, shouldn't cost near what they do material wise. The gold is negligible, but requiring (often) things you don't have to upgrade is ridiculous.
Been so confused by aspects these last days and all the videos I found just ended up making me more confusing, as they seemed tojust babble on and on. Finally found your video and everything made sense. Thank you :)
I DID NOT REALISE YOU COULD EXTRACT CODEX ASPECTS! I ALSO DID NOT REALISE ONES FROM THE BOOK WERE ALWAYS THE LOWEST AND THAT YOU COULD LOOT ITEMS WITH A BETTER VERSION OF THE EFFECT AND THEN REPLACE YOUR DEFAULT VALUE ONE WITH IT. THANK YOU SO MUCH. THAT'S AN UPGRADED CHESTPIECE FOR ME.
im a little lost with what to do here...i got a drop during a random dungeon that has an aspect that would make my entire build work. i just am so new that I have no idea how to tell when an item is "good enough" to imprint the aspect on where I'm only level 26. I'm constantly changing out gear as I progress so I feel like it would be a waste at this point, but the aspect is game changing for my build
You will find plenty of more aspects as you level so I wouldn't stress too much on using it up. If you get a perfect roll, you might want to save that one for a later time when you find a unique or when upgrades aren't coming as fast. However, you probably want to find a yellow that has the stats you need for your build. I found one at 25 that rolled 3 relevant stats with middle of the road values for each of them that I imprinted back at level 25 and I have used it all the way up to level 46 on my HC character. Just find a yellow that seems solid and imprint it, especially if it is an aspect that will make your build smoother to play. I hope that helps
Can someone please explain why as a sorceress some legendary weapons allow me to cast spells and then when I switch to another legendary weapon i can't cast ANY of my spells.
Got a new subscriber. This is the first diablo I've really played and coming from elden ring, league of legends things like that this makes my brain explode lol. Very well done thanks man.
I’m glad it helped. Only thing I didn’t mention in this guide is that you will need a sacred or ancestral aspect to apply it to a sacred or ancestral piece respectively
@Gladius Gaming at the very end you said you could put them on Uniques also; this is not the case. Uniques can't be extracted or imprinted as the game stands now.
Dude you finally sorted out a big point of confusion for me by clarifying the codex is NOT consumed on use. So many click bait diablo channels holes keep warning about this while giving the WORST and most confusing rants. big like and thumbs up for that
This totally makes sense to me now, I got all the crafting etc, but I was wondering why sometimes certain aspects roll double the max value over others, thanks for clarifying!
Exactly Immusama, this would allow you to use a unique that has a less useful aspect on it but still benefit from the higher rolls that come on uniques
@@GladiusGamingGG Pretty sure this isn't true... You either mean a 'sacred' tier 'ancestral' tier or other legendary. Unique item means specifically the Gold colored ultra rare items. You cannot change ANYTHING on a unique, hell you can't even re-roll one of the mods like you can on other items. 👍
This was super helpful and much appreciated! I got a couple of good aspects on drops around level 40, so I can save those and put it on better gear later -- level shouldn't matter because it's percent based, right? Now I just have to decide if I want to use them for 50+ leveling or save for later levels since it's one time use lol
Here is another consideration, you will need a sacred version of the aspect to apply it to a sacred piece. So, if you get a low level max roll (non sacred for example), you can feel safe to use it before you get to level 50 because after this, you will probably aim for having all sacred pieces
How do you get another aspect of the same "type" if you already imprinted one by mistake, and you want another? Take your Hammer of the Ancients for example, if you mistakenly imprinted it and wanted to go get another one, I assume you would have to farm it, but how often does that particular one come up, how long on average does it take?
If you are talking about legendary aspects that don't come in the codex, it can take a while to find the exact one that you want. I tend to just save duplicates of the non codex aspects so that I can pretty much apply them at will. However, like the hammer of the ancients aspect you mentioned is in the codex, so I never need to find that one to apply that aspect. I do tend to save duplicates of that one that have a higher than minimum roll (codex is always the lowest roll) so that I can apply them to upgrades as soon as possible.
STOP! REDO ur video! and explain how important it is to upgrade your item to maximum stars before imprinting any aspect, otherwise it is more expensive!!!!
So what about a low level item vs high level item, will the aspects attribute different? For example. I have one legendary item that gives 244-280 frost damage. Will a higher level gives a better damage, or this number will eventually change due to the character levels?
For legendary items, the aspect roll is a roll of its own and it does not depend on the item level. You can get a max roll on the aspect on a low item level item
This was the only video I found specifically stating what does/doesnt consume the aspect. Out of curiosity, can you imbue a new weapon with an aspect, level up, find a new weapon, then recycle that previous imbued weapon to transfer the aspect, and so on?
Bro this video was perfect! It was my exact scenario down to the weapon, aspect, and percentage! The only problem is is that I’m lvl 40 and don’t really know what the best weapon states are to apply this dope aspect to
i think i have a pretty good grasp on how the system works but im just not really sure how to use it practically. When should i be imprinting my aspects on gear? My main worry is imprinting a really powerful aspect and then i find a better piece of gear 10 minutes later
I think that is always a possibility, but I would wait until 70, that is where the grind gets really slow. No pressure to wait that long though if you don't plan on pushing super late game, you could use it as early as 50-60
great video, however you didn't mention how to get the currency to imprint aspect! If I extract an aspect from a legendary do I get currency as well or just the aspect?
Good point HiddenGhost! The only way to get the currency from the item is to salvage it and you wouldn't get the aspect in that case. So you have to choose between the currency and the aspect.
So i max rolled a legendary hammer that boosts my basic attack speed by 60%. But now its so under level for where im at. So if i extract it, i should wait until later to use it? And is there a possibility that i come across another one that is of equal or lower roll?
This is my first diablo game. I'm tryna understand everything. That aspect is super important to my build right now. So I guess I'm asking is it a one time thing? Will I come across that aspect again?
You will definitely see more of any aspect. I wouldn’t stress about finding the perfect moment or item to imprint it on unless it is your most important aspect for your build at a max roll. At that point I would probably wait for a higher level and awesome drop.
Hey I had a question about the gravitational aspect for sorcs, was it only available in season 1? I just started the game in season 2, and I don’t see it available on the codex, will I still be able to find this aspect through drops?
hey how come my imprint text appears subdued on some of my equipped pieces?? come to think of it, why does some of it appear orange and why does some of it appear white?
If it appears white it means that you have another item that has the same aspect that is a higher value than the one you are looking at. It disables the lower value one
As a warrior main I was obligated to like and subscribe after being told to heroic strike and slam them. Also the video was concise and informative, thanks!
Question. Say you find an item that has , meh, roll values, but is not one you have in your codex. If you extract will you get the codex version available to you. Aka min but unlimited?
One thing to note is some aspects dont have a codex. If you get one of these make sure you either have a duplicate or make sure the item you imprint it on is good enough to be used for a long time.
But what I'm confused with is the level of the aspect. Could I, for instance, extract an aspect from a level 20 weapon and imprint in a level 60 weapon or is this stupid? Do the aspects also have levels and I need a high level aspect for a high level weapon?
You could definitely do that! There are no levels for aspects outside of the numeric roll it got within the range. For example, Hammer of the ancients does 32% [32-64]
Awesome, I’m glad it helped! Using the occultist opens up so many options and I feel like the game doesn’t explain it very well. Really fun feature to work with though
This was a good explanation of some of the information which I already knew. Your title says "... - Everything you need to know about the Occultist" but you didn't explain what the third and fourth tabs are and how to unlock them. That was the reason I came to your video. So your video doesn't explain everything about the Occultist unless those two tabs are unlocked elsewhere.
@@GladiusGamingGG Yeah twice. I made a barbarian and did it then i completely forgot and did it again with my rogue. The aspects do say they have a level requirement but it's easy to miss and there's nothing you can do about it. Also it doesn't allow you to salvage gear with too high a level after imprinting for some reason, but you can salvage them if you mark them as just and mass salvage all junk...
it seems rare stat stay the same but the roll number get randomized? what stats in rare in considered good? but the number of stat always lower than legendary drop ? (lets say rare has 3 stat, where legendary drop has 5 stat) if you have imprinted a codex, can you still override it from aspect?
I consider anything above the half way of the range to be on the good side, but I also weight it based on how many relevant stats rolled on the item. 3 bad rolls on relevant stats can beat out a perfect roll of one stat. Which stats that are going to be good for you depend on your build. You want consistent conditionals to increase your damage. My build always bleeds and slows them so I have bleed damage, cc damage, slow damage, etc.
Most of the important HoTA aspects are available on the codex but if there is one that you are looking for that isn't on there, it will come as a random drop attached to a legendary item. The best way I have found to target certain aspects is to use the obols at the mystery vendor. For example, if you are looking for an offensive aspect, just keep buying gloves until you get the one that you are looking for. I think some of these are level gated as well. I started finding new aspects starting from 50 and onward. I'm not sure if this is the way it is supposed to work or just my experience though. I hope this helps!
So do i want to wait until im a certain level to actually do this? Can anyone tell me the level i want to be to start doing this that way im not putting aspects on trash armor please and thank you
If it was a codex level roll, I noticed that it only costs the veiled crystals (yellow crystals) but if you get a roll that is higher than the bottom, you will need a material that you get from salvaging the other legendaries of the same gear type (salvaging a weapon, would give you the weapon token and salvaging armor would give you an armor token). I can't remember what the mat is called off the top of my head but is that the item you are missing? It should say on the tooltip where you can get it from.
I would try to save them for post 50 if they are a max roll. I wouldn't feel pressured to save it for really late in the game and also keep in mind the season 1 reset is likely to happen sometime in July so might as well use it sooner rather than later
So basically codex are great to get your character up and running as fast as you can, but they are the lowest rolls basically, then when you find a legendary with a good roll that has properties your looking for you turn into an aspect, instead of the low base roll from the codex?
Exactly, like my hardcore character ripped and now I can grab these aspects and slap it on the first slightly good yellow so I can have part of my build back. Good rolls on aspects should be used at the point when leveling slows way down. Post 50 or closer to 70 your item level climbs very slowly so you won't have to worry about replacing your item quick with a new one within a level or two
For the the HOTA codex can it be put on a ring to affect your 2 handed mace or does it need to be on the weapon for best damage effects. Especially well leveling weapons are replaced a lot easier than a ring.
I imprinted my slashing weapon with the codex since the dps doesn’t matter on my slashing weapon (HOTA has to use a bludgeoning weapon) so I could take advantage of the 200% multiplier. The other weapons become stat sticks when they aren’t selected to be used for the active skill so I just looked for a yellow sword that triple rolled relevant stats and I used that for most of the leveling so far. Ring works too but it is only 100% from the codex.
Hope they add crazy corrupt items or something touched by the corruption of Lilith. WW cost health instead of fury at a percentage of your physical dmg but ignores all defences of the enemy. Your minions deal 50% more dmg but you also life linked to your minions and receive a portion of the damage. Teleport teleports enemys to you instead of you teleporting. Meteor now becomes a comet shower dealing cold dmg instead of fire. Blizzard now deals fire damage and becomes a fire storm. Basic skills have a chance to reset your core skills but core skills cost twice the resource but do double damage when they reset. Skeletons have a chance to split into smaller skeletons with half hp. Wraiths now possessed an enemy when they die until the possessed enemy is dead. Werebear is stronger at night than day. Your Blood Golems now siphon blood from enemys and form into another coagulated blood golem and that golem can also split up to X amount. Enemys killed by your Corpse Explosion now crest a chain reaction with subsequent kills the chain reaction continues. Your Clay Golems now have a chance to be imbued with minerals from the ground on creation....aka boulders....lightning. You can now feed your Metal Golem items for buffs for an X amount of time . Your Clay Golems now have a chance to find clay deposits adding X size and X dmg per stack. You are now partially blind your lucky hit is incensed by 50% your light radius and view radius are decreased by X amount...."The warriors eyes failed him in his old age but make no mistake his strikes are as deadly as ever". Could go on all day with stupid ideas.
These sound awesome. I hope they do something like this. Corruption mechanics in PoE and even when WoW did some corruption mechanics, it was a blast. I'm totally down for this
You are now partially blind....your lucky hit chance is increased by 50%...so your light radius and view is really small..."The old Warrior's eyes failed him in old age....but dont make the mistake his strikes are still as deadly as ever".
So do u get the full value of the aspect used in the imprint process as long as the new item is 100 percent value? Like if u have a max roll does the max roll carry over or does it get rerolled again?
It will carry the rolled value and scale it to the gear that you are putting it on. For example: Codex = 50 [50-100] | Lego I found 100 [50-100] Hands with codex aspect = 50 Hands with lego aspect = 100 2H Weapon with codex = 100 2H Weapon with Lego aspect = 200 The aspect is only rolled once when the item is dropped. The value never changes outside of the scaling when you apply it to different gear types. I hope that makes sense. Thanks Vengeance!
No unfortunately. Just the codex ones. For example the gravity one for the popular lightning build can only be looted or the easier way is to gamble sources for it
@@GladiusGamingGG what I thought, because I have the circular ball lightning now and I don't want to lose that one...haven't seen a dungeon for that one yet...

Exactly what I was looking for TY!
Glad it helped Luke! Thanks
Yo homie! that was a very informative vid. Sub'd and watching more. ty
Awesome, thank you for the sub Cracktune!
Where do get that hammer at ?
Hey I had a question about the gravitational aspect for sorcs, was it only available in season 1? I just started the game in season 2, and I don’t see it available on the codex, will I still be able to find this aspect through drops?
It is still in the game but the only way to get it is to find it on gear. Gambling source or off hands with obels would be the quickest way.
Reading the Aspect tell you what the Aspect will do when you apply it.
How to get items to show the ranges im on consle and i can’t see the higher and lowest of aspects
check the options in gameplay settings. It should be in there. I don't have a console or i would check for you
hey how come my imprint text appears subdued on some of my equipped pieces?? come to think of it, why does some of it appear orange and why does some of it appear white?
If it appears white it means that you have another item that has the same aspect that is a higher value than the one you are looking at. It disables the lower value one
As a warrior main I was obligated to like and subscribe after being told to heroic strike and slam them. Also the video was concise and informative, thanks!
Thank you for the heroic strike and the slam! Glad it helped!
Question. Say you find an item that has , meh, roll values, but is not one you have in your codex. If you extract will you get the codex version available to you. Aka min but unlimited?
Unfortunately, no. The codex can only be received as the end of dungeon reward
One thing to note is some aspects dont have a codex. If you get one of these make sure you either have a duplicate or make sure the item you imprint it on is good enough to be used for a long time.
Why? Can you not extract after ?
@@scottstewart8737once imprinted, you can't extract it but you can replace it with another aspect.
For example, Hammer of the ancients does 32% [32-64]
Thank you. This process is very confusing. I'm level 58 and had never used an occultist cuz it was so confusing to figure out.
Awesome, I’m glad it helped! Using the occultist opens up so many options and I feel like the game doesn’t explain it very well. Really fun feature to work with though
I can't use any unique items in the aspect and codes
This was a good explanation of some of the information which I already knew. Your title says "... - Everything you need to know about the Occultist" but you didn't explain what the third and fourth tabs are and how to unlock them. That was the reason I came to your video. So your video doesn't explain everything about the Occultist unless those two tabs are unlocked elsewhere.
So what do you do when you put an aspect on an item that makes it too high level to wear?
Oh shit, I haven’t had that happen. Did that happen to you?
@@GladiusGamingGG Yeah twice. I made a barbarian and did it then i completely forgot and did it again with my rogue. The aspects do say they have a level requirement but it's easy to miss and there's nothing you can do about it. Also it doesn't allow you to salvage gear with too high a level after imprinting for some reason, but you can salvage them if you mark them as just and mass salvage all junk...
What was the trick? I can read so I must have missed the trick.
This still work?
This is what I wanted to know. Have a sub. Thanks
Thank you for the sub Obi1kenobi! I'm glad it helped!
it seems rare stat stay the same but the roll number get randomized? what stats in rare in considered good? but the number of stat always lower than legendary drop ? (lets say rare has 3 stat, where legendary drop has 5 stat)
if you have imprinted a codex, can you still override it from aspect?
I consider anything above the half way of the range to be on the good side, but I also weight it based on how many relevant stats rolled on the item. 3 bad rolls on relevant stats can beat out a perfect roll of one stat. Which stats that are going to be good for you depend on your build. You want consistent conditionals to increase your damage. My build always bleeds and slows them so I have bleed damage, cc damage, slow damage, etc.
Wow thanks for this info. Did not know this. I already extracted a few aspects to put on some gear. I'll make better choices with this info now.
I'm glad it helped! Thank you for watching!
Outa intrenst do you know where to find some aspect that dont show in the codex for barb im trung to get a hota build but i cant find some aspects
Thanks for the guide! It all makes sense to me now! :)
I'm glad it helped Monzter! Thank you
So do i want to wait until im a certain level to actually do this? Can anyone tell me the level i want to be to start doing this that way im not putting aspects on trash armor please and thank you
Can you upgrade a legendary item at blacksmith and still extract aspect later on?
Yes, you can extract upgraded legendary items aspects but keep in mind that upgrading the item won't increase the aspect itself
Pls help me I’m trying to get twisted blades on my gear but it’s telling me I need more than just that yellow stuff it cost more for me
If it was a codex level roll, I noticed that it only costs the veiled crystals (yellow crystals) but if you get a roll that is higher than the bottom, you will need a material that you get from salvaging the other legendaries of the same gear type (salvaging a weapon, would give you the weapon token and salvaging armor would give you an armor token). I can't remember what the mat is called off the top of my head but is that the item you are missing? It should say on the tooltip where you can get it from.
what setting or add-on are you using to show the possible range of a aspect?
Sure! I go over the setting in this video here: ruclips.net/video/q1HIytGwCr8/видео.html
Thanks!
@@GladiusGamingGG Thanks!!
Could you elaborate on the bit at the end about applying them to unique items? That overwrites the unique aspect doesn't it?
I think I misspoke here. I meant ancestral and sacred. Uniques are static to my knowledge and cannot be changed
Thank you for making this video. It was a big help.
No problem Txtopherr! I'm glad it helped!
What level should I use my legendary aspects?
I would try to save them for post 50 if they are a max roll. I wouldn't feel pressured to save it for really late in the game and also keep in mind the season 1 reset is likely to happen sometime in July so might as well use it sooner rather than later
Wait does that reset our rank and everything?
So basically codex are great to get your character up and running as fast as you can, but they are the lowest rolls basically, then when you find a legendary with a good roll that has properties your looking for you turn into an aspect, instead of the low base roll from the codex?
Exactly, like my hardcore character ripped and now I can grab these aspects and slap it on the first slightly good yellow so I can have part of my build back. Good rolls on aspects should be used at the point when leveling slows way down. Post 50 or closer to 70 your item level climbs very slowly so you won't have to worry about replacing your item quick with a new one within a level or two
@@GladiusGamingGG can you throw a aspect on any item base for instance rare, unique or magic ?
When you put the aspects is it permanent and you lose it? Or I can keep using the same aspect?
You lose the aspect when you use it but you keep the codex
Is there any website / option (i'm playing from PC) where you can check the max roll of the aspect ?
Sure Fabio! Check my video out on Advanced tooltips here: ruclips.net/video/q1HIytGwCr8/видео.html
This was the perfect guide
Thank you Grillo! I'm glad it helped!
I'm totally down for this
@@GladiusGamingGG You can now feed your Steel Golems gear to give them buffs for an increased duration depending on the items.
@@GladiusGamingGG Your clay Golems now have a chance to be formed with imbued mods from elements found in the ground when created.
Your Clay Golems now have a chance to find clay deposits and can increase in size and dmg per X amount of clay deposits.
You are now partially blind....your lucky hit chance is increased by 50%...so your light radius and view is really small..."The old Warrior's eyes failed him in old age....but dont make the mistake his strikes are still as deadly as ever".
Can you double up aspects on a single item?
You cannot, also the aspect will also be silenced if it is the same aspect applied to a different piece of gear on your character
So do u get the full value of the aspect used in the imprint process as long as the new item is 100 percent value? Like if u have a max roll does the max roll carry over or does it get rerolled again?
It will carry the rolled value and scale it to the gear that you are putting it on. For example:
Codex = 50 [50-100] | Lego I found 100 [50-100]
Hands with codex aspect = 50
Hands with lego aspect = 100
2H Weapon with codex = 100
2H Weapon with Lego aspect = 200
The aspect is only rolled once when the item is dropped. The value never changes outside of the scaling when you apply it to different gear types. I hope that makes sense. Thanks Vengeance!
EXTREMELY good video. Thank you!
Thank you Brock! I'm glad it helped
Ty, very helpful
Glad it helped optimalorlando! Thank you for watching
can "every" aspect be found in a dungeon???
No unfortunately. Just the codex ones. For example the gravity one for the popular lightning build can only be looted or the easier way is to gamble sources for it
@@GladiusGamingGG what I thought, because I have the circular ball lightning now and I don't want to lose that one...haven't seen a dungeon for that one yet...
Absolutely great video, explained very well, thank you!
I appreciate it Keith! Thank you for watching!
