I think edge profile D would look stunning. Gives it a little modern feel while keeping it mid century. Like always stunning work and whatever you choose will still look beautiful and amazing.
I’d say D! It follows the feeling of the African tree you referenced. It feels like it continues the flow of the curves from the narrowest point of the base to the widest point being the very top! Amazing work as always! Can’t wait to see what you do next, always a pleasure!
i like D best. nice work on this! on the next attempt on this style of base, might be cool to try and cut a little dado in the base for each curve to land in, making it look like a seamless transition from the base into the curve.
Good idea! Thanks! I definitely wasn’t thrilled with how that came together/looked from the underside. Lams we’re too thick and spring back made that tricky. Dado would definitely make that easier 🤙
Been a fan of cams work for years. Im glad to see hes branching out to other wood workers because i never heard of you before. I just stumbled upon another gem and that is your work. Great video work, great editing, great MUSIC, and best of all GREAT wood working. Instant sub 👍👍
I’m so happy I found you pretty early in your time on RUclips. Your first videos were beautifully done but watching the video quality rise so dramatically has been amazing. You are incredibly talented and truly demonstrate the beauty in the reality that good craftsmanship means constantly developing and changing, rather than finding a style that is safe and works. Your style is consistent, but every video is something new.
Definitely option D for the profile and again you did amazing with the design and execution. I remember seeing the post by Cam inquiring about a potential collaboration and I almost responded but I'm in Florida and don't have the time or space to pull it off. I'm glad you got the job and I'm sure once Cam is done with the top and his video published, with your base it will hopefully help you get more subscribers. It's only a matter of time before you and your channel blow up! Great work!
That is frickin amazing dude! Definitely one of my favorite things you've ever shown us. Going to look perfect under that slab. I like the D profile best. Your attention to detail just blows me away. Can't wait to see the finished project, and see how much it sells for. Also love that Molife track.
I like a project that shows complexity and creativity, and you definitely have those here. You got your inspirations from natural objects, then brought those ideas into focus and made them tangible. Also, when you cut the diameter of the base down in size, the removed was yelling "wall clock" to me. I saw maple and walnut diamonds in the cardinal points (3, 6, 9, 12'oclock). I like profile D for the top. Thanks for sharing your project build.
Awesome idea! I set it aside thinking I’d do something with the off-cut. That’d be a great little project. Appreciate the idea and glad you enjoyed the build 🤙
I'm always impressed with the angles on the D style table with B a solid runner up. Beautiful and inspiring work completed with 1st class skill. Go on brush your shoulders off. Very great full to see it thank you.
I agree with most people on here that I think edge profile D will look the best! Also this video was edited and shot brilliantly. I have binged watched all of your videos and this one in my opinion has been your best. You really can tell how much dedication and work you have put into both you projects and videos and they keep getting better! Thank you for provided such great content!
Dayum dat pretty! I'd go for D, which is what Cam usually does and I think it's so lovely. Somehow 1 simple cut adds so much character. And if you're not sponsored by the vacuum bag company you should be. Every video it's just screaming at me that I need one 🤣 well done man, phenomenal as always
Cam does beautiful work and excels at making tabletops. However your work is truly artistic and the workmanship is fantastic (aside from the patch job). I hope whomever buys the table appreciates your contribution and the effort and skill behind it. - Chris
Absolutely stunning, I can't type much more as Iam just home from a complete shoulder replacement. Look forward to the finished collaboration. Don from South Aust.
Wow! You got a new Festool kapex miter Saw! 😂😅 I love the sticker on the ryobi! 😎 I Think i Will upgrade all my tools the same Way 😄 As always absolutely stunning Woodwork.
No sarcasm from me I love the base that you are building in this the Blacktail table top to sell on line. However that didn't happen and I was wondering if you videoed making the new top and showing this base together! I love the style of this base and would be very interested in seeing the final version, Table Completed! did end up on that beautiful
Man, I would love to see a video of you explain that veneered segmented walnut part in the base. I am so inspired by that. I have never attempted something like that but would love to learn it.
Your opening of the vacuum bag - I find myself having that sort of reaction in the shop sometimes. If my wife is there, I typically get the “you’re such a dork” reaction. Hey - there are much worse things to get excited about…..
I appreciate the half-dowels for "feet:" they give the piece an understated floating effect. It's an interesting option for a large treasure chest/gaming table I have planned for the summer. Thanks!
That is a stunning base .... you don't need no stinkin' slab! However, as a fan of Cam's work I think that we can let him make a top for your base. About time he had a wooden base for his slabs! All kidding aside, this is going to be an amazing table. I'll side with the crowd and go with D (It's the one Cam is gonna put on it anyway) Can't wait for it all to come together.
15:57 Certainly don't tune in just for the music in the vids...that said.....the mini base drop right here! Looks absolutely gorgeous though, can't wait to see the whole table.
Side note…. Not sure if anyone else has said anything, but steaming the wood makes it pliable and far less likely to snap. Pumping steam into a large pipe of PVC works quite well. Downside being drying time.
Edge profile D reflects the angles of the base, which will help tie the two pieces together and enhance both. It'd be even better if Cam rounds/breaks/softens the lines just a tad.
D, because we know Cam is going to do his favourite 45° finish on the edge. Perhaps you can give Cam a fee pointers on woodworking without black epoxy. 😂
@@SawyerDesign you've got a thing, trust me. It's art. Your designs don't just please the eye they please the soul too. If I can produce something as artistically pleasing as you, within the next 10 years, I'll be happy. Right now my builds are functional, that's it. They do a job. You builds do a job but look good with it. Don't change what you do, it's already perfect.
Absolutely stunning! It was so much fun to watch the way vision and artistry came together with this piece! You have the patience of a saint! My vote for profile would be D. I think it would emulate the canopy aspect of the desert tree. 🙂
Lemur. I really like the free form base it will really add some interest in a room.... that is until you see the top. The organic flow of the wild grain goes much better with a non-linear base. Unfortunately, I think the future owner would be loath to actually put anything on the table since the grain is so cool. Therefore, I think the table in and of itself is an art piece and should be celebrated. Nice work!
I think edge profile D would look stunning. Gives it a little modern feel while keeping it mid century. Like always stunning work and whatever you choose will still look beautiful and amazing.
Personally, the option D looked best for the table. Love the build, I'm very excited about this collaboration, 2 of my favorite RUclipsrs.
I LOL’d when I saw the festool sticker on your chop saw. We’ll played.
I’d say D! It follows the feeling of the African tree you referenced. It feels like it continues the flow of the curves from the narrowest point of the base to the widest point being the very top! Amazing work as always! Can’t wait to see what you do next, always a pleasure!
Good point! That would follow the savannah tree vibe better.
i like D best. nice work on this! on the next attempt on this style of base, might be cool to try and cut a little dado in the base for each curve to land in, making it look like a seamless transition from the base into the curve.
Good idea! Thanks! I definitely wasn’t thrilled with how that came together/looked from the underside. Lams we’re too thick and spring back made that tricky. Dado would definitely make that easier 🤙
I was about to give the same suggestion. Great minds think alike!
Let's be fair here. To make such an amazing piece and the end result is fucking beautiful. I'd like to see someone else do this from scratch.

“Festool” on a Ryobi! I love it!
Lol same same, but different.
Definitely option D for the profile and again you did amazing with the design and execution. I am floored at how fabulous this turned out. Your attention to detail is amazing. Your love of the craft truly shows.
Edge profile D - definitely. I'm shocked Cam didn't ask you to finish with Rubio to match what he'll be doing with the top. 🤣
i like it when the woodworker isn't afraid to show that he nicked himself and needed a bandade
Edge profile: D for sure. Accents the beveled edge of the base
You’ve become my favorite builder on RUclips. I very much enjoy your videos and builds. You never disappoint.
Thanks so much Jason! Means a ton man- glad you’re enjoying the builds

I enjoyed the work on this collaboration. I've watched Blacktail for a while. I look forward to seeing more of your video wall hanging art.
D for sure, tapers down and follows the flow. This is amazing!

Dude this is some crazy HIGH end work. You are a true artist and visionary on style. Crazy cool work
Much appreciated man! 🤙
Your video editing skills have improved 10 fold!! Never knew Home Depot sold the kapex!
😂 hd is really stepping up their game. Thanks Gabriel. Glad the work put into video is showing
I'm always impressed with the angles on the D style table with B a solid runner up. Beautiful and inspiring work completed with 1st class skill. Go on brush your shoulders off. Very great full to see it thank you.
I like edge profile D - That slight angle references the angles in the legs. Loved the reveal of the LED lights under your workbench. :)
Such a RUclipsr 😂 the undercut seems to be winning so far!
@@SawyerDesign One of my notes from this vid - the xmas LEDs under the bench are actually genius. You put those there so you can see your s**t, right?
I love watching both you and Cam do your thing and it's pretty cool that you're doing a collaboration.

Thanks for noticing all the work I’ve been putting into the video/editing side, Sam! Really appreciate it!
I love the festool logo on the miter saw 🤣
"D" for sure! nice job on those legs.. got to love walnut when you apply the finish!
Cam black tail studio is my favorite RUclipsr, you are lucky can build table with him 👍
Dayum dat pretty!
I'd go for D, which is what Cam usually does and I think it's so lovely. Somehow 1 simple cut adds so much character.
And if you're not sponsored by the vacuum bag company you should be. Every video it's just screaming at me that I need one 🤣 well done man, phenomenal as always
Haha he did give me a discount. Thanks Dave
Im definitely a fan of edge profile D.
I think the chamfer in option D compliments the angle of the slats in the base the best
I think D just looks like the best profile: sleek with some elegance
I like profile D. Love the veneer. I’d love a dining table with that veneer look.
Cam does beautiful work and excels at making tabletops. However your work is truly artistic and the workmanship is fantastic (aside from the patch job). I hope whomever buys the table appreciates your contribution and the effort and skill behind it. - Chris
Thanks Chris! (And damn that mistake/patch… always something)
D is my vote. I've seen him use it before and it looks great.
Absolutely stunning, I can't type much more as Iam just home from a complete shoulder replacement. Look forward to the finished collaboration. Don from South Aust.
D looks the best to me..... great work. Can`t wait for Cam`s part.
This looks fantastic! It's great to see you two teaming up. Definitely go with option D for the tabletop profile.
The wood grain in the octagonal pyramid looked really cool
Love the Chamfered look D.... You do beautiful work!
You are a MASTER of your craft. Well done!
D definitely looks the best as an edge profile ... i cant wait to see the rest of this collaboration 😍
I'd go with D. It just appeals to the eye better then the rest. Nice work!
D is the profile I like the most and I think he's on that as well being as though he can't get enough of it. But D looks the best
Found your channel and I like it. For me profile D is the best.
Amazing work. I have just started to work with solid wood and I'm learning every day.
Hi new sub from blackmail studio. Looking forward to watching your vids, especially the steam bending info.
D is definitly the best
Sweet as always mate.
It’s always the last hole and then….. POP!!
Profile D is the one for me.
Beautiful work I think D would be the best option, marvelous piece.
I like the subtle Adam Neely reference haha
Very impressive work. Such a huge variety of skills and techniques. Great craftmanship!!
D for sure! Epic build 🤘
Under rated channel of the year!!! Subscribed!!!
🙌🏼
Super dope that you guys are working together
Profile B, nice and rounded for all those hip or head bashing
Wow! You got a new Festool kapex miter Saw! 😂😅 I love the sticker on the ryobi! 😎 I Think i Will upgrade all my tools the same Way 😄
As always absolutely stunning Woodwork.
This piece is incredible!! You are amazingly gifted by God!! Wow!! 🌟👍❤
You’re too kind Dianne! Thanks as always

did end up on that beautiful
wow,wowand wow again!!!!beautyful!!!!!!!!!!!!!
D for me! (Oh boy that sounds bad). Beautiful job with that base!
Awesome! Profile D looks best, I like the double radius that Cam uses for round tables, but the bevel on D will fit better with your base imo.
Man, I would love to see a video of you explain that veneered segmented walnut part in the base. I am so inspired by that. I have never attempted something like that but would love to learn it.
Thanks for sharing your techniques buddy.
Edge profile- B or D
Can’t wait to see Cam’s side of this and you guys putting the puzzle together!
Great build again. I think D looks the best with overall design.
Great job Nick! Love your “Festool” miter saw. I like D.
so cool that you teamed up with Cam! great idea and great video as always!
dude, you're a master....... EDGE D
Your opening of the vacuum bag - I find myself having that sort of reaction in the shop sometimes. If my wife is there, I typically get the “you’re such a dork” reaction. Hey - there are much worse things to get excited about…..
Haha dude my wife thinks I’m so weird. Love it
@@SawyerDesign - I’m pretty sure after being married nearly 21 years that she thinks me acting like a “dork” is charming!
Awesome build. I like the B edge profile most
D! Good lord that's a beautiful base. Thanks for sharing

Fantastic looking table
I like the D Profile,.

A money shot we can show too are parents now that's something I never thought would happen 😃
I’d like to see profile D.

Give it the D!
Do I need one of those small planes, you use that thing all the time. Makes me feel like a need one.
Haha probably not, but it makes your hands look bigger. I just like it because it’s so fricken adorable
Edge profile D reflects the angles of the base, which will help tie the two pieces together and enhance both. It'd be even better if Cam rounds/breaks/softens the lines just a tad.
D is the clear winner :)
First video of yours I have watched and man very much enjoyed. Can't wait to see the completed table.
@4:20 (nice)....soundtrack from Matt's Offroad, the crossover we didn't know we needed
You build on a whole other level!! Dang!! Gorgeous and freaky awesome all the way!
Haha freaky awesome. Stealing that one Henry. Thank you!
D, because we know Cam is going to do his favourite 45° finish on the edge.
Perhaps you can give Cam a fee pointers on woodworking without black epoxy. 😂

That walnut is just beautiful.. it looks (and smells) like your shaving chocolate 😂

I have been looking forward to this build for 2 weeks!!
Wow the new Kapex looks sweet!
"D" PROFILE FOR SURE! Your truly talented craftmans. Freaking awesome videos!!
Thanks so much, John 🤘
Beautiful artistry, I love D
Now that is a very pretty base! 👍
I like D for the edge profile.
I think it matches your flowing design the best.
