Nathan's 200-in-1 kit (He builds a code oscillator on it as a demonstration!) • Radio Shack Science Fa...
I allowed myself the nostalgia of buying a replacement 150 in 1 Science Fair project kit a few years ago. The only allowance I have ever made for nostalgia.
I had the 50 in 1, the 150 in 1, and the Digital Electronics kit. The 150 in 1 was my favourite.
Love that! These project kits are a lot of fun, at any age.
That's exactly what I had as a kid, so many hours of fun. Love the audio projects like the chirping bird. It started my electronics interest (and many visits to Radio Shack for parts...) which continues today.
That’s awesome! RS sure influenced a lot of us to learn more and more.
I had that kit in the mid 70's. I'd love to be able to get my hands on one again. Such a great way to learn about electronics.
Trips to the Green Tree Mall in Clarksville were always a big event here, when I was younger. Radio Shack was always my first stop, followed shortly by Walden Books. Those were the days.
I'm pretty sure I managed one or two trips to Green Tree Mall in my own youth. I know Justin (being closer, down in Salem) was down that way a lot in his younger years. - Timmy
I got that for Christmas when I was 9 years old, along with an FM radio kit. By that time I'd been making crystal radios for 2 years and wanted more. I probably built everything in that manual at least twice that winter. Thanks for the memories!
I loved those kits. I don't remember what I had. One was a radio kit. I could build an AM/FM and short wave radio with one of them. The other one had several projects in it. Its probably where my interest in ham radio and electronics came from. When I was in high school and we went to the mall, the first place I visited was always Radio Shack.
Man I used to love these project boards from RadioShack. RadioShack was my favorite place to go as a kid.
I had this kit for, I think, Christmas 1974. Bought from Tandy in the UK. I built all the projects over a few years and learnt some very basic electronics principles. Remember having fun with the sound oscillator creating "the crying ox". Also tried to create the lie detector without success. Fooled my parents into thinking I had it working. I secretly hid the morse key out of sight and asked them various questions and made it sound a noise to indicate their "lies". Hilarious. Very happy memories.
I grew up on these, these are a core staple to my personality to this day. Started with the 30in1 kit in the early 80s "santa claus" got me..and i was hooked. Had several through my childhood years.. they all got dismantled and trashed as i got older because i wanted to use the parts for other projects. Got older and regret it so ive been buying these old kits to collect and share the experience with my daughter.
Yes I had this set when I was 9. First thing I built was the crystal radio. Probably still relative for introducing youth to electronics.
Great to see you guys! Reminiscing about Radio Shack, and even a Shrek reference!! That's why I love your videos 🙂 And let's all celebrate the approach of Ham Fest season, lol. 73 & keep up the good work, K9ZF
I had one in about 1970, '71 when I was about 12! I enjoyed using the solar cell to power small light bulbs.
the exact set I got.I carved a propeller out of Balsa wood on a motor & made a Crude wind generator out of my bedroom window..only made 1-2 Volts but it did work.
I had this actual One. I added a homemade wind generator which i hung out of My Bedroom window with a carved Balsa woon Propeller. It worked too only making 2 Volts or so.The FM transmitter was really need.
I think i hadta '50 In 1' as a kid then later worked at a TV repair shop and then Radio Shack repairing computer disk drives (electronics & mechanics).
I have the 200 and the 300inone from Science fair and have the 25 and 50 from Tronex/Science Mad on my channel
Awesome, we will have to check your videos out!
I had the 150 in 1 version, it was awesome, but got parted out over time, I still have the manual, and the parts live on in other projects. When I see videos like this I want to got find another one but lack of fund being on disability I decide the money needs to go else where, but maybe one day I'll grab one off the evil auction site or something. btw I am also I licensed ham (Advanced class)
I tried soldering a Heathkit radio kit. I only picked up a country station.
Gentlemen Your video is of a high quality about electronics.
My question isn't esoteric but, on a grander scenario that you've not addressed as of yet. Who has taken over Radio Shack here in the United States? But,
At large on the grander scale, congratulations are in hand for an Investment Firm in El Salvador El Gigante they are breathing a new life's blood into the defunct organization Radio Shack in the world abroad.
I believe an investment group has purchased the brand, along with many defunct brands in the US. What few stores are left are franchises of sorts, I think.
