    Love my Hennessey Explorer Classic. Bottom entry makes it so easy to get into and it seals right up keeping bugs, critters and tree detritus off of you. The snakeskins are the most logical and coolest idea around. Along with a Tigris winter underquilt, hammocking is a year round plus!

      You have to buy an under quilt made special for Hennessy. They have their own insulation they call "super shelter ". Which is a non-breathable shell and a 1" open cell
      waffle foam. You can add a space blanket too but condensation is a problem.

      Not to mention some Hennessy models have a side zip.

    • @MotoAtheist
      @MotoAtheist 6 лет назад +1

      Even with the bottom entry version, you should be able to manipulate whatever you use in order to still get in. As already mentioned, there is a zipper along the net version, but the reason zippers weren't originally used was to avoid potential failure points. Zipper is a good option for people at campgrounds, but if you are going several hours out on a trail for a day or two, you don't want to risk the zipper getting jammed and your net hanging open all night.
      To each their own with hammocks, so many out there and so many ways to customize the setup, you figure out what works for you and go with it.

    Would be interested to see an extensive of one of the Clark hammocks for comparison. I realize they are a little pricier but I'm a bigger guy at 6' 3" and 240lbs, they seem built for that size. Hey I can ask right?? Thanks again for the review, much appreciated.

    I want to get more into hammocks and I bought a cheap 40$ hammock with mesh to keep bugs out and when I am not using the mesh I flip it and use it to relax. I don't really like the Hennessy one since I feel like its sort of limiting (like the opening in the middle) but are there any other good alternative options for relaxing and camping.that you would suggest?

    • @OldPackMule
      @OldPackMule 7 лет назад +1

      THEHOWLSUN Hennessy has a zipper version. Just as durable but a little heavier and you can enter from the side and use conventional insulation. I've taken mine with the super shelter insulation package down to freezing and it packs as small as a small down bag.

    For those that don't like bottom entry Hennessy makes zippered models too but slightly heavier and slightly less compact due to the zipper.

      Thank you for sharing this. How would I know if which one I would like?

    • @OldPackMule
      @OldPackMule Год назад

      @@dianeibsen5994 generally most prefer the side entry because underquilts and accessories are usually designed for side entry. I would say that only people with mobility issues i.e. someone who can't bend in the middle or has really serious flexibility issues, might get an advantage from bottom entry. Your ability to use your core muscles to get out of a side entry is something that is not really discussed. It's like getting up from a deep lounge chair or out of a low car with bucket seats. Not a problem for most hikers.

    If you're doing a review, at least learn how to use it. This hammock is asymmetrical which means you don't lie end to end, you actually lie almost flat if you lie in it correctly. Plus, if you're using snake skins, the rain fly also fits into them, preventing rain water running down the ridgeline into the hammock. It's fantastic hammock and this video simply doesn't do it justice.
