Thank-you guys for the cool comments on our ORYX design and thanks Nolly for your amazing contributions to the science and art of creating an incredible instrument.
@mansonguitars5483 do you have any dealers in the US that would have an Oryx to check out?
not yet for ORYX but is something we are working on @@lyricbread
Marc, thanks for another brilliant show🤘. Can't imagine what it takes with a 9-5 job, let alone after a week of traveling and pulling it together at a different time zone. Once again many thanks for all you do.!!
Thank you very much for writing that. It’s not easy and as I get older it’s getting harder but I do love it 👌
One of the best episodes ever, Nolly is brilliant!
This might be the deepest dive into guitar geek laboratory theory crafting ever. So the paper pulp gas chromatograph derived from 2002-2003 samples differ slightly from 2004 as well as the fluffiness of length of pulp strands...Love it!
Noll is awesome!! Thanks for having him on the show. Great show!
Nolly!!! Love this dude.
This is so in depth discussion about artistry and product design it should be mandatory for school students interested in the matter. Thanks guys.
Great guest!!! Super underrated dude. Been following nolly since his SikTh RUclips covers. I love to hear his opinion on gear/tone because he always seems to have a good reason for feeling the way he does. Bring him back for a part 2!
The story about the smaller cap on the 5150 : James Brown was making the combo version and wanted to increase the bass response so he thought about doubling the 2.2nf to 4.7 nf, but then they made the mistake and installed a 470pf... which is the foundation to the 5150II, the EVH 5150 III, the PRS MT15 and probably many other metal amps :D
Great show guys. I love going into the weeds like this.
great episode
Watching the replay!! Thanks guys!!!
thanks a lot for the show. amazing guest and a very interesting conversation. please consider inviting more modern metal guys, it's very engaging to hear
Great show guys! Marc, would love to see you show off that cool Lynch tiger.
One of my fav episodes
Holy cow….those Kii monitors are very expensive 🤑
Hell yeah guys
Love this episode! Please have Mr. Brian Bromberg on. He is a GREAT Tone King! He thinks about tone beyond his nose of the primary instrument he plays. It is obvious to me that he thinks globally about tone on every instrument used on his compositions. "Keep Doing That Voodoo That You Do!"
Recently got a custom Zilla slant/vert 2x12 with a discontinued Heritage G12H30 on top and a V30 on bottom. The best 2x12 I've ever played. I use it with my PT-20 or my SLO-30
Re. Vintage 30s. I am bidding on a 1936V cab right now. I assumed the G12 Vintage speakers are V30s. Nope. The Marshall G12 Vintage is not a Vintage 30. The G12 Vintage was made especially for Marshall and the Silver Jubilee cabs. It's rated at 70 watts. It actually predates the V30 that's rated for 60 watts. What we think we know is not always correct huh?
Nolly, in reference to the speaker testing, etc., you were referring to "The Other John Brown" who has done extensive analysis of speakers based on some of your studies.
Marshall labeled Rollo Celestion speakers had a smaller magnet then the vintage 30's. Like the modern 70. I believe it was a 65 watt rating available as a 260 watt cabinet. We would generally pass on those back in the day, but now they're kind of rare and desirable. Vintage 30's never were that great sounding but everybody wanted them, but sounded nothing like the old 30's did.
20 years ago you could find some cool Tube screamer mods and that info disappeared!
Can you also load 3rd party IRs in the gold stack IR plugin? I’d love to try your IRs but of course I’ve got the 1s I love I’d really like to get it just for the room IRs though and I’d definitely try it if I knew I could mix some of my other IRs with the room IRs in that.
Hey, yes you can load user IRs into the Goldstack plugin
Celestion T1281 and I think T1221 were coolest. 30 watt 55 hz and 75 hz were best. Then greenback 25 watt. Early 30's were green back and mid to late 70's were black back.
Mark uhm uhm is not a word plz stop doing this every 5 minutes its something you do to yr wife so she doesn't say are you listening to me a interviewer doesn't do this carry on
Hey thanks for the advice…not a very nice way of saying it. I’ll try to do better
Uhm uhm uhm, try to use some punctuation in your rants. It makes it much easier for us to roll our eyes at the pettiness of your comments.
Terrible grammar terrible comment
