26 hours of domestic flying across the USA

  • I've had an aviation dream for a while - trying to find the longest domestic route within the US. And in April 2022, I finally made it - I took 5 domestic flights with United, covering close to 10 thousand miles, while staying entirely within the US!
    I flew from the US territory of Saipan to Guam, on to Honolulu, Los Angeles, Houston, and finally San Juan, Puerto Rico.
    While these five flights were purchased on one ticket, I had a 22 hour layover in Guam, and therefore decided not to include the first leg in the video.
    For those who are interested, here is the whole itinerary:
    Flight 1 of 5 UA117
    Tue, Apr 19, 2022 09:50 AM
    Saipan, MP, US (SPN) to Guam, GU, US (GUM)
    Flight 2 of 5 UA200
    Wed, Apr 20, 2022 08:10 AM
    Guam, GU, US (GUM) to Honolulu, HI, US (HNL)
    Flight 3 of 5 UA534
    Tue, Apr 19, 2022 10:05 PM
    Honolulu, HI, US (HNL) to Los Angeles, CA, US (LAX)
    Flight 4 of 5 UA1946
    Wed, Apr 20, 2022 08:15 AM
    Los Angeles, CA, US (LAX) to Houston, TX, US (IAH)
    Flight 5 of 5 UA335
    Wed, Apr 20, 2022 02:50 PM
    Houston, TX, US (IAH) to San Juan, PR, US (SJU)

    Amazing journey and your routing Saipan to San Juan, PR is also used by a B737-724/B737-824 that must go back to EWR by doing the same leg except for the GUM-HNL part which it must Island Hop

    I have heard that (PLEASE TAKE THIS WITH A BLOCK OF SALT.) some people take/get on flights for New Years Eve to go backwards over the International date line so that they are able to celebrate NEW YEARS eve TWICE!! (Now, I have NO IDEA how often this still happens now a days. - in 2023 and forward - )

      Believe it or not, I was booked on UA200 this year January 1st from Guam to Honolulu in order to celebrate NYE twice. But as my luck had it, the flight was delayed 7 hours, meaning it landed in Hawaii just past midnight. 😡

    When i was in the Navy i was stationed out on Oahu Hawaii. Had alot of fellow service members who were either stationed in guam or were from guam and they always had nothing but great things to say about it. I for sure want to visit there one day.
    As far as what my longest or craziest flight has been would have to my Houston to Honolulu which is a 9 hours. Definitely no were near 26 hours like yours haha but this month on the 13th of may im taking a trip to Romania. It will Houston to London 7 hour flight followed by an 8 hour layover in london. Then a 4 hour flight to Bucharest

      The price varies depending on which day you fly... but one-way from Guam to LAX would be upwards of a thousand dollars.

    I hate LAX and SLC. I do like Atlanta airport. Those are the worse airports in the world to me. I've never been to Hawaii or Guam, they're just not on my bucket list. I would however like to visit Puerto Rico.
    I really like your videos. My craziest flight was to Nepal. Took 5 flights to get there. It was the cheapest way to get there, but after that I started paying full price for flights and usually direct flights if I can find them.

    • @mywindowseat
      @mywindowseat  2 года назад +1

      Thanks @Global Adventurer! I had a stop in ATL recently. It was not bad, but all the restaurants were closed at the T gates, even though it was only 8pm. Not sure if everything closes this early at ATL. Do you mostly fly Delta?
      And I'm happy that you like my videos, thank for watching! Wow - 5 flights to Nepal sounds adventurous! Do you remember which connections you took?

    • @GlobalAdventurer
      @GlobalAdventurer 2 года назад

      @@mywindowseat Yes I mainly fly Delta, Qatar or Emirates. If I can recall my flight to Nepal it was Delta/KLM from Tucson to Atlanta to Amsterdam to Dubai. Then Oman Air from Dubai to Muscat to Kathmandu. Crazy. Took almost 2 days 😁
      But personally I don't like any airports in the USA. They are boring. I like Doha's airport the best though. Especially the lounges.

    Great video! But my beef is 26 hrs of flying and you had that small snack out of Guam....then noting to speak of all the way to PR. UA doesn't care about their passengers. I call this arrogance.
