For those of you trying to "Fix This Band" just know that we already did a Fix This Band for this band, it's called our first 7 years.
It was hot, the stage was black, the sun was in our eyes, but the band still played their hearts out (pardon the pun). I'm very proud to be a part of such a great group of people and musicians.
Can we make a how to fix this band video on this?
Great job! Do you find the sound on stage strange without the reflections from a back and side walls? Maybe with in ear monitors this isn't an issue, but it always threw me off a little when playing on these kind of outdoor stages.
It was really fun to see you perform, but you know that people are going to critique this… 😂 Side note: I thought the mix sounded really good. Great job!!!

How to fix this band (OK Mike, please take this with grain of salt)
Don’t drink water when the song has already begun (even your part has not come yet),
..or put your hand on your amp and look to others as Uncle Grumpy (I’m a bass player as well ;)
..or take a photo with your phone. Let the audience take your pictures. What’s wrong with that guitarist? :)
…it spoils all the look of the band and atmosphere. It dilutes your seriousness or professionalism on stage.
No word for musicianship of any player there, they are good at their craft. But the guitar player? He’s got that stage person material, he’s enjoying his time and this lift the presence of the band. You can tell he’ll earn his life through music.
I have no idea why the vocalist is holding a guitar as it seems she’s not playing a single note during this song, she could hold something else (e.g. inflatable flamingo :D ) to animate the stage and If it’s a safe neighborhood, she could put the guitar down on a stand But her singing is lovely and spot on. Few bumps here and there but it is expected for a live show under sun at 1000 F. Thanks for not using pitch corrector (AFAICT).
But the hidden gem of this band is the keyboard player. Eventhough she looks like she has just finished teaching maths and rushed her way to the stage, her playing, her vocals (am I the only one seeing that Jon Bon Jovi (main vocalist)-Richie Sambora (more powerful/better vocalist) thing?) is on par with top players. You can tell she is there all inside the music.
And often forgotten, kudos to sound guy (far better drum sound compared to many stadium filling bands).
You should send this video to Mike, he is much better at criticizing and telling where to improve

I always sip my beer when I don't need to play. Sometimes, even when I play a long chord or when I have one hand keyboard part. You need to keep hydrated, and you can cheer to the audience once in a while. But I have never ever taken my phone in my hands during the show! The audience should film, the photographer should film, but band members should perform (and drink).
Some of us have been there. While I basically agree with the fix this band comments under "general circumstances", I don't know that this gig falls under that category. From Mike's other vids, I can tell he is fastidious enough to know the difference. We can't tell from the vid what kind of audience was present, what the atmosphere was like. Seasoned pros know when and why its reasonable to relax whatever standards of professionalism.
@@oldadajbych8123we play one particular venue (restaurant/bar) regularly. Show time is always 7:00-11:00. We sometimes play there on Friday nights which is stressful for me. I have a day job and I live 45 minutes from the gig. So, many times I don't have time to eat before playing. There have been times my wife literally fed me finger foods (appetizers) while I'm playing 😂. A mans gotta eat!

Hot stage, no shade, small and / or indifferent crowd, little pay....Opened for a St. Paul Saints game one time at the previous stadium in the parking lot. I vowed to the guys that I'd never ask them to do that again. Did you ever work in an original band after Sanctus?

Even though I’ve loved Heart since 1972, the piano intro seemed weird to me, had to go back and listen, yes there is a piano intro unlike the Alive in Seattle where Nancy played it on her acoustic guitar which I think is better.
