    Do we really need to acknowledge how progressive this show was? The show didn’t TRY to be progressive. The show was genuine about its portrayal of diversity and cultural representation. That shouldn’t be lauded as a political agenda. It should be lauded as how society should be. Y’all are using the term progressive as if it’s a point system. Don’t pat yourself on the back for how Rugrats genuinely cared and advocated for diversity and cultural respect.

    • @bilaljones3635
      @bilaljones3635 4 года назад +11

      It was, but normally it was put into the background. For a show like Rugrats (and not say, The Proud Family which starred a black cartoon family) to have a Kwanzaa special centered around the supporting cast black family in the show and the white cast learning about it as well was fairly rare. Also, the show had two Jewish holiday specials (and one random special about Moses and the Book of Exodus) which is still unheard of in cartoons.
      Like, I'm positive there was a Fairly Oddparents or Hey Arnold episode with AJ or Gerald in a daishiki, but they didn't devote a whole episode to it.

    • @bilaljones3635
      @bilaljones3635 4 года назад +3

      If for example Japanese or Chinese clothes were more uni-sex and looked like dresses, european dresses are FOR WOMEN. You just can't deny that. It's okay if guys want to wear them too but it doesn't mean they're gonna look good in them.

    I love the Rugrats still. When I watched the episode with Phil and Chucky wearing dresses, I didn't think it was okay. Today I hold the same belief. Cross dressing is wrong. Males should not wear anything that belongs to a woman and nor should a woman wear anything that pertains to a man. It causes confusion.
