- Evolution will naturally happen, but this is a very slow and painful process so I "nudge" it along periodically because I want results. This is mostly done through radiation. I get so efficient at evolution that creatures can potentially even evolve in real time. This is at the expense of the creatures health and well being, but that's why I have thousands of them. Plus the breed very quickly and as long as they're doing that faster than they're dying then it works out. By the end we had so many unique species that I don't think breeding was even possible anymore and the world was doomed. Success.

Whenever my games crash I'm like: "Oh no!"

I'm fine with games crashing as long as they were saved like 3-5 seconds before
my reaction to game crashes is what one would expect. "You piece of $%!# I will give a real reason to crash."

I hope the creators of this game eventually make it more stable because the game doesn’t like to keep going after keeping the game open for awhile. The most stable I can make this game is by disabling all the extra graphic effects, turn down creature detail, and limiting the cap to 1200. However it will still sometimes crash, thank god they implemented auto saves!

Hey DF quick tip on OBS
Assuming your using OBS always check the recording as I have the same issue of it jittering a lot on recording even if the gameplay is fine
As OBS somehow has its own lag even when the game is relatively fine and you will get jitters like 6:34 a lot

You could try out "Noita". It's a rogue like game that's rather difficult and every pixel is physics simulated meaning lots of potential PC suffering.
I've heard Thrive is a great spiritual successor to spore, if you're looking for more evolution!

This game is really indepth and cool to mess around with. I look forward to see more of this and the abominations you create. BELOW ARE KEY THINGS THE GAME DOSE
Like if you move plant live to the ocean and leave less plant life on land the herbivores will have to evolve so they can breath under water. They will develop fins and gills.
If you make the temperatures colder the creatures will adapt to grow fur. And if you make it hot they will lose fur. And adding radiation will cause random mutations but to much will kill the creatures meanimg any mutation they got cant be passed on. Basically what ever you do to them the next generations will adapt. Little by little.
You can also do the nursery way tho.
Im also pretty sure you can start with more then 1 type of species. And you can introduce custom creatures youv made and saved into the environment
You don't put things in microwaves. You put them in ovens. Then the microwave oven sends microwaves, which travel through the item (preferably food).

The best way to evolve creatures in this game is to make the environment nigh inhospitable so that they need to evolve to survive, the high death rate should help your fps as well.
I think I saw some Graystillplays creatures in there. So.. when you two gonna collab? This game will not be able to handle both of you, and it would be super fun
