🕊️Should anyone profit in anyway from our Heavenly Father’s words❓ 1️⃣Separate from scripture, do Jesus’ followers need anything extra, including money to “support” their preaching & teaching of our Father’s words❓ 🕊️“Then Jesus asked them, “When I sent you out to preach the Good News and you did not have money, a traveler’s bag, or an extra pair of sandals, did you need anything?” “No,” they replied.” Luke 22:35 🕊️“As you go, make this proclamation: ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Cure the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, drive out demons. Without cost you have received; without cost you are to give. Do not take gold or silver or copper for your belts; no sack for the journey, or a second tunic, or sandals, or walking stick. The laborer deserves his keep. Whatever town or village you enter, look for a worthy person in it, and stay there until you leave.” Matthew 10:7-11 2️⃣Did Jesus speak about how being rich was destructive to religious leaders or anyone in general❓ 🕊️“Once a religious leader asked Jesus this question: “Good Teacher, what should I do to inherit eternal life?” “Why do you call me good?” Jesus asked him. “Only God is truly good. But to answer your question, you know the commandments: ‘You must not commit adultery. You must not murder. You must not steal. You must not testify falsely. Honor your father and mother.’” The man replied, “I’ve obeyed all these commandments since I was young.” When Jesus heard his answer, he said, “There is still one thing you haven’t done. Sell all your possessions and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” But when the man heard this he became very sad, for he was very rich. When Jesus saw this, he said, “How hard it is for the rich to enter the Kingdom of God! In fact, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of God!” Luke 18:18-25 Ask yourself, Why⁉️ Why Would our Father bless any religious leader or anyone in general with money if Jesus claimed that being rich would make it hard for anyone to enter his kingdom❓ 3️⃣Did the Apostles require any form of payment in order to “support” their preaching & teaching of our Father’s words❓ 🕊️“If I were doing this on my own initiative, I would deserve payment. But I have no choice, for God has given me this sacred trust. What then is my pay? It s the opportunity to preach the Good News without charging anyone. That’s why I never demand my rights when I preach the Good News.” 1 Corinthians 9:17-18 4️⃣Did the Apostles speak about those who preach & teach for personal profit❓ 🕊️“You see, we are not like the many hucksters who preach for personal profit. We preach the word of God with sincerity and with Christ’s authority, knowing that God is watching us.” 2 Corinthians 2:17 5️⃣Why should these people who preach & teach our Father’s words for personal profit be silenced❓ 🕊️“They must be silenced, because they are turning whole families away from the truth by their false teaching. And they do it only for money.” Titus 1:11 6️⃣Are those who preach & teach for personal profit condemned❓ 🕊️“In their greed they will make up clever lies to get hold of your money. But God condemned them long ago, and their destruction will not be delayed.” 2 Peter 2:3 7️⃣Is there a difference between money that goes directly to an individual and money that’s distributed amongst its church members ❓ 🕊️“All the believers were united in heart and mind. And they felt that what they owned was not their own, so they shared everything they had. The apostles testified powerfully to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and God’s great blessing was upon them all. There were no needy people among them, because those who owned land or houses would sell them and bring the money to the apostles to give to those in need.” Acts of the Apostles 4:32-35 Did the Apostles keep money for themselves for personal profit❓ Did the Apostles families benefit financially from the donations they received❓ Did any of the Apostles live a life of luxury❓ Why then would our Father “bless” anyone with personal profit when he didn’t even do that for the Apostles❓ 8️⃣Did the Apostles warn us about people within our own groups who would distort the truth along with these false prophets, false apostles & false teachers in order to gain followers as well❓ 🕊️“I know that false teachers, like vicious wolves, will come in among you after I leave, not sparing the flock. Even some men from your own group will rise up and distort the truth in order to draw a following.” Acts of the Apostles 20:29-30 9️⃣Should those who preach our Father’s words work for their own money separate from that preaching❓ 🕊️“Don’t you remember, dear brothers and sisters, how hard we worked among you? Night and day we toiled to earn a living so that we would not be a burden to any of you as we preached God’s Good News to you.” 1 Thessalonians 2:9
🕊️The quotes provided below are historical facts in reference to our early church which existed prior to Romes adoption of Christianity in 313 A.D. Church: 📖"Let no man do anything connected with the Church without the bishop. Let that be deemed a proper Eucharist, which is [administered] either by the bishop, or by one to whom he has entrusted it. Wherever the bishop shall appear, there let the multitude [of the people] also be; even as, wherever Jesus Christ is, there is the Catholic Church.” [St. Ignatius of Antioch - Letter to the Smyrneans 8 (c. A.D. 110)] Bishop, Priest & Deacon: 📖“Since, then, I have had the privilege of seeing you, through Damas your most worthy bishop, and through your worthy presbyters Bassus and Apollonius, and through my fellow-servant the deacon Sotio, whose friendship may I ever enjoy, because he is subject to the bishop as to the grace of God, and to the presbytery as to the law of Jesus Christ [St. Ignatius of Antioch- Letter to the Magnesians 2 (c. A.D. 110)]. Eucharist: 📖“Take note of those who hold heterodox opinions on the grace of Jesus Christ, which have come to us, and see how contrary their opinions are to the mind of God... They abstain from the Eucharist and from prayer because they do not confess that the Eucharist is the flesh of our Savior Jesus Christ, Ash that suffered for our sins and that the Father, in his goodness, raised up again. They who deny the gift of God are perishing in their disputes.” [St. Ignatius of Antioch - Letter to the Smyrnaeans 6-7 (c. A.D. 110)]. Scripture: 📖“[W]hoever perverts the sayings of the Lord for his own desires, and says that there is neither resurrection nor judgment, is the firstborn of Satan. Let us leave the foolishness and the false teaching of the crowd and turn back to the word that was delivered to us in the beginning.” [St. Polycrap of Smyrna - Letter to the Philippians 7 (c. A.D. 135)]. Sunday: 📖“But Sunday is the day on which we all hold our common assembly, because it is the first day on which God, having wrought a change in the darkness and matter, made the world; and Jesus Christ our Savior on the same day rose from the dead.” [St. Justin Martyr - First Apology 67 (c. A.D. 151)]. Actions/Works: 📖“We have learned from the prophets, and we believe it is true, that punishments, and chastisements, and good rewards, are rendered according to the merit of each man's actions. If it is not so, then all things happen by fate, and nothing is in our own power. If it is fated that this man be good, and this other evil, the former is not meritorious nor the latter blameworthy [St. Justin Martyr - First Apology 43 (c. A.D. 151)]. Apostolic Succession: 📖“It is within the power of all, in every church, who may wish to see the truth, to contemplate clearly the Tradition of the apostles manifested throughout the whole world; and we are in a position to reckon up those who were instituted bishops in the churches by the apostles, and [to demonstrate] the succession of these men to our own times; those who neither taught nor knew anything these [heretics] rave about.” [St. Irenaeus of Lyons - Against Heresies 3:3:1 (c. A.D. 189)] Baptism: 📖“The children shall be baptized first. All the children who can answer for themselves, let them answer. If there are any children who cannot answer for themselves, let their parents answer for them, or someone else from their family.” [St. Hippolytus of Rome - Apostolic Tradition 21 (c. A.D. 215)]. Confession: 📖“After this, one of the bishops present, at the request of all, laying his hand on him who is ordained bishop, shall pray this way: O God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. pour forth the power that is from you, of "the princely Spirit' that you delivered to your beloved Child, Jesus Christ, and that he bestowed on your holy apostles, who established the Church that hallows you everywhere, for the endless glory and praise of your name. Father, "who knows the hearts [of all]” grant this servant, who you have chosen for the episcopate, to feed your holy flock and serve as your high priest blamelessly night and day, and unceasingly turn away wrath from your face and offer to you the gifts of the holy Church. And that by the high priestly Spirit he may have authority "to forgive sins" according to your command.” [St. Hippolytus of Rome - Apostolic Tradition 2-3 (c. A.D. 215)]. Confirmation: 📖“The bishop will then lay his hand upon them, invoking, "Lord God, you who have made these worthy of the removal of sins through the bath of regeneration, make them worthy to be filled with your Holy Spirit, grant to them your grace, that they might serve you according to your will, for to you is the glory, Father and Son with the Holy Spirit, in the holy Church, now and throughout the ages of the ages. Amen." After this he pours the oil into his hand, and laying his hand on each of their heads, says, "I anoint you with holy oil in God the Father Almighty, and Christ Jesus, and the Holy Spirit." Then, after sealing each of them on the forehead, he shall give them the kiss of peace and say, "The Lord be with you." And the one who has been baptized shall say, "And with your spirit." So shall he do to each one [St. Hippolytus of Rome - Apostolic Tradition 21-22 (c. A.D. 215). Peter’s Authority: 📖“The Lord says to Peter: "I say to you,' he says, “that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of hell will not overcome it. And to you I will give the keys of the kingdom of heaven. [Mt 16:18-19]. On him he builds the Church, and commands him to feed the sheep [Jn 21:17], and although he assigns a like power to all the apostles, yet he founded a single chair [cathedra], and he established by his own authority a source and an intrinsic reason for that unity. Indeed the others were also what Peter was [apostles], but a primacy is given to Peter, by which it is made clear that there is one Church and one chair.... If someone does not hold fast to this unity of Peter, can he think that he holds the faith? If he deserts the chair of Peter upon whom the Church was built, can he be confident that he is in the Church?.” [St. Cyprian of Carthage - Unity of the Catholic Church 4; first edition (Treatise 1:4) (A.D. 251)]. These few topics (but a glimpse) were not only discussed but settled BEFORE Rome adopted Christianity (The Catholic Church) and eventually became The Roman Catholic Church as it also adopted its name after 313 A.D. Is the Catholic Church Jesus’ original church❓Yes❗️ Does this excuse all its mistakes and sins from the record❓Of course not❗️As Christians, we are called to hold the church accountable, not leave it and let evil flourish within it. This refusal of accountability within every Christian has led to over 40,000 diferente Christian denominations and the ignorance which has flourished from it. 🕊️”And his gifts were that some should be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ; so that we may no longer be children, tossed back and forth and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the cunning of men, by their craftiness in deceitful wiles. Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ,” Ephesians 4:11-15 We are called by God to unite! What better church to do it under than the one he started.
🕊️Should Christians renounce religion (The Catholic Church)❓ In order to properly understand this statement, we must dive deeper into scripture and allow our Father’s Holy Spirit to reveal his truth. 1. Did the Jewish community reject Jesus’ teachings❓ 🕊️“When they heard this, all in the synagogue were filled with wrath. And they rose up and put him out of the city, and led him to the brow of the hill on which their city was built, that they might throw him down headlong. But passing through the midst of them he went away.” Luke 4:28-30 2. Did the Jewish community reject Jesus’ as our Lord & Savior❓ 🕊️”For those who live in Jerusalem and their rulers, because they did not recognize him nor understand the utterances of the prophets which are read every sabbath, fulfilled these by condemning him.” Acts 13:27 3. Did Jesus pick the Apostle Peter to build his church❓ 🕊️“And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.” Matthew 16:18 4. Did Jesus’ request to the Apostle Peter to build his church lead the Apostle Paul to create a new religion amongst them❓ 🕊️“Great indeed, we confess, is the mystery of our religion: He was manifested in the flesh, vindicated in the Spirit, seen by angels, preached among the nations, believed on in the world, taken up in glory.” 1 Timothy 3:16 5. Did the Apostles appoint elders (presbyters / priests) in every church❓ 🕊️”And when they had appointed elders for them in every church, with prayer and fasting, they committed them to the Lord in whom they believed.” Acts 14:23 6. Were decisions within the Christian religion made by the Apostles in conjunction with the Elders (presbyters / priests)❓ 🕊️“As they went on their way through the cities, they delivered to them for observance the decisions which had been reached by the apostles and elders who were at Jerusalem. So the churches were strengthened in the faith, and they increased in numbers daily.” Acts 16:4-5 7. Did the Apostle Peter see himself equally with the elders (presbyters / priests)❓ 🕊️”So I exhort the elders among you, as a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ as well as a partaker in the glory that is to be revealed. Tend the flock of God that is your charge, not by constraint but willingly, not for shameful gain but eagerly, not as domineering over those in your charge but being examples to the flock. And when the chief Shepherd is manifested you will obtain the unfading crown of glory.” 1 Peter 5:1-4 8. Did Deacons, Elders (presbyters / priests) & Bishops exist within the Christian religion prior to Rome’s adoption of it in 313 A.D.❓ 🕊️“And let them also be tested first; then if they prove themselves blameless let them serve as deacons.” 1 Timothy 3:10 🕊️“These they set before the apostles, and they prayed and laid their hands upon them. And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests were obedient to the faith.” Acts 6:6-7 🕊️“Now a bishop must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, temperate, sensible, dignified, hospitable, an apt teacher,” 1 Timothy 3:2 9. Does the Christian religion with its Deacons, Elders (presbyters / priests) & Bishops remove Jesus as the head of the church❓ 🕊️”He is the head of the body, the Church; he is the beginning, the first-born from the dead, that in everything he might be pre-eminent. For in him all the fulness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.” Colossians 1:18-20 10. Does the Christian religion recognize Jesus as having full authority over the church❓ 🕊️”And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you; and behold, I am with you always, to the close of the age.” - Matthew 28:18-20 11. Did the Apostles ask us to stand firm in the traditions we’ve been taught which included deacons, priests and bishops being a part of the church❓ 🕊️“So then, brethren, stand firm and hold to the traditions which you were taught by us, either by word of mouth or by letter. Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts and establish them in every good work and word.” 2 Thessalonians 2:15-17 12. Did the Apostles ask us to stay away from people who are not in accord with the traditions that we’ve received which included deacons, priests and bishops within the church❓ 🕊️“Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you keep away from any brother who is walking in idleness and not in accord with the tradition that you received from us. For you yourselves know how you ought to imitate us; we were not idle when we were with you,” 2 Thessalonians 3:6-7 13. Did the Apostles approve of people passing down traditions which included deacons, priests and bishops being a part of the church ❓ 🕊️Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ. I commend you because you remember me in everything and maintain the traditions even as I have delivered them to you.” 1 Corinthians 11:1-2 14. Should we avoid people who hold the form of religion but deny the power of it❓ 🕊️“But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of stress. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, inhuman, implacable, slanderers, profligates, fierce, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding the form of religion but denying the power of it. Avoid such people.” 2 Timothy 3:1-5 15. How is someone’s Christian religion demonstrated as vain❓ 🕊️”If any one thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this man’s religion is vain.” James 1:26 16. Are we called to hold our Christian religion accountable❓ 🕊️”Take heed to yourselves; if your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him;” Luke 17:3 🕊️”Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Look to yourself, lest you too be tempted. Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. For if any one thinks he is something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself.” Galatians 6:1-3 🕊️”As for those who persist in sin, rebuke them in the presence of all, so that the rest may stand in fear. In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus and of the elect angels I charge you to keep these rules without favor, doing nothing from partiality.” 1 Timothy 5:20-21 🕊️”For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Is it not those inside the Church whom you are to judge? God judges those outside. “Drive out the wicked person from among you.” 1 Corinthians 5:12-13 17. Does anyone within the Christian religion supersede our Father’s words❓ 🕊️“And when they had brought them, they set them before the council. And the high priest questioned them, saying, “We strictly charged you not to teach in this name, yet here you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and you intend to bring this man’s blood upon us.” But Peter and the apostles answered, “We must obey God rather than men.” Acts 5:27-29 18. Are we called to follow the Christian religion blindly❓ 🕊️”Then the disciples came and said to him, “Do you know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this saying?” He answered, “Every plant which my heavenly Father has not planted will be rooted up. Let them alone; they are blind guides. And if a blind man leads a blind man, both will fall into a pit.” Matthew 15:12-14 19. How is the Christian religion considered pure and undefiled by our Father❓ 🕊️”Religion that is pure and undefiled before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.” James 1:27 20. Should we renounce irreligion❓ 🕊️”For the grace of God has appeared for the salvation of all men, training us to renounce irreligion and worldly passions, and to live sober, upright, and godly lives in this world, awaiting our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ,” Titus 2:11-13
Not as cool an intro and hate the cigar. You're not my favourite Catholic creator. I love this conversation. I became a believer via a Protestant evangelical church. Last year I converted to Catholicism. I became Catholic because of the truth, goodness, and beauty it has to offer. I still work with my Protestant friends and I still have so much love for all that they do. The sad thing is some of my Protestant brothers have completely done away with me as if I became a heretic who is out there committing acts of evil against the church. I really love seeing unity amongst Protestants and Catholics. I'm more interested in us coming together and bringing more souls to heaven together.
Huge resemblance between political left and right, wouldn’t you say? The intolerant left that is so good at projection and rejection is akin to the arrogance of Protestantism and how they shun converts as if they’re leaving them behind for a better Truth.
@@piouspapist Favourite, colour, etc are trademarks of your neighbour Canadians as well. There's really distinctive Britishisms I can spot that separate us though. Their car has a boot, everything is brilliant, lol, etc.
Ruslan’s positive takes on Catholicism is why I follow and respect him. I knew he wasn’t Catholic, but I respected him that he wasn’t trying to misrepresent Catholics. He’s a good dude.
I’m soo hyped right now! I listened to Ruslan during my deconstruction stage of my faith well before I became Catholic. Literally he’s my favorite Protestant type RUclips channel I still watch. Ruslan you the best Bro!
Is it normal to use ‘deconstruction’ when talking about conversion? Just curious. I typically hear that term used when people lose their faith entirely.
@ the faith I currently was holding was being lost and so as I was picking it all apart I did go to the line of questioning if there was a God and possibly losing my faith. God helped me through all of it and although there was some rough spots on the journey he lead me to the Catholic faith and allowed my faith to be reborn in short.
Its a deconstruction in the sense of unbuilding or going back to Truth CS lewis has a quote: "We all want progress. But progress means getting close to where we want to be. And if you have taken a wrong turn to go forward will not get you any nearer. If you are on the wrong road, progress means doing an about turn and walking back to right road." e@@michaellemmen
As a Protestant, I have grown deeper in my Protestant roots and faith because of this type dialogue. It clarifies many caricatures of both Protestant and non-Protestants. Thankyou for your charitable conversations! All love for our brothers and sisters 🙏🏼✝️
@@ManuelHernandez-xt8pr Correct! Christian institutions that are considered Non-Protestant would fall under subdivisions such as: Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, Oriental orthodox, Assyrian Orthodox and Anglicanism. Protestants have a few subdivisions such as: Lutheran, Baptist, Methodist, Presbyterian, Pentecostal, non-denominational and a few others. Yet we are all brothers and sisters in Christ ✝️
Thank you guys so much for both of your powerful Witnesses. Commenting on how Catholics and Protestants view each other from a perspective of "jungle" and "desert" hit me as a really good point. I really loved how Matt brought in the Rosary at the end and briefly mentioned some of its origin and its ties to religious life. The question by Ruslan was also really good, asking what Matt might be able to take away from protestantism but still remain Catholic. The message of the good news is so amazing, encompassing everything but at the same time boiling down to something really simple. Jesus loves you and the ultimate happiness in life is loving him back. God bless you guys
I absolutely loved this episode. You two are my favorite to watch/ listen to. Was such a great listen. I would love another episode again. Thank you so much for this episode!❤
This is a great interview/conversation, especially because Matt provided Ruslan with plenty of room to talk and expand upon ideas. I learned a lot and my admiration for both has grown. Top notch.
My conversion to Catholicism was both emotional and logical. I was emotionally drawn to Catholicism via the Mass. The Church Fathers, the Ecumenical Councils, and the Scholastics lead persuaded me in areas I was stuck on. In terms of the Eucharist, The Mass and The Orthodox Liturgy have 'The Real Presence' due to having valid apostolic priesthood. So, even in reverent protestant 'churches' they don't have a consecrated Host. P.S: I believe in terms of valid sacraments it is boiled down to us the Catholics and the Orthodox due to the "acclaimed" apostolic protestants recently desecrating the sacraments by changing them. The only valid sacrament left for Protestants is baptism, if they use the proper baptismal formula. God Bless.
I believe according to canon law that two validly Baptized Protestants could have a Sacramental Marriage in our Catholic perspective as well. So Baptism and Matrimony would be the two sacraments that Protestants may have access to (they would agree with two but would replace Matrimony with Communion and might call them ordinances)
I love this! Thanks guys for this chat! I’m evangelical, but love your channel, Matt - and I love what Ruslan is saying here. The whole arguments of “Catholics going to hell” or “Protestants going to hell” is crazy……. There are people at any churches who are not saved and people at both and Orthodox who are saved if we go on Romans 10:9, Ephesians 2:8-9 as multiple more. I did go to Roman Cathokic church for years, but as I studied scripture more and became more in depth with theology I found a non denominational conservative church - but I do love this chat and I love you both guys and you both do great work and clearly love the Lord x
There an altar call at every mass. People come forward for a personal encounter with Christ in Holy Communion and publicly profess their amen to the real presence.
Protestantism is like having a delicious steak all by itself. Catholicism is having that same delicious steak, but with salad, green beans, mashed potatoes, carrots, cranberry sauce, wine, and desert…all of those enhance the meal and don’t take away from the deliciousness of the steak.
I was so excited to see Ruslan here! I have enjoyed many of his videos and love Matt! These 2 have great content and I have to say I didn’t know Ruslans story. , and now I admire him even more! Such intelligent conversation! ❤
How does this not have more views? This conversation covered SOOOOOO many good issues that modern Christians are thinking about every day. I'll try to share it around
Just looked up all the artists he mentioned and now I can’t stop smiling!! My mind is blown. I’d written off rap, yet now I’ve got a whole playlist that’s legit and doesn’t need to be hidden from the kids. Haha
1:24:22 What he quoted as “to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord” Is a common misquotation, since it actually says “…would rather be absent from the body and present with the Lord” This means that it doesn’t imply an immediate change, here is an analogy “I would rather be absent from work and at home with my kids” this doesn’t mean it is impossible to be for example on a train on the way home. The train being analogous to purgatory.
I didnt know about mosques closing because of the christian conversions! It reminded me of a non-profit my protestant church supported called 360 Serve that financially supports indigenous pastors so they can support their families and focus on evangelizing their communities. They focus on pastors in the least christian areas. They always have great conversion stories to share.
Dang, I’ve been following Ruslan since his channel was more so Christian Hip Hop happening as I’m a lifelong black Christian. I still follow him since I’ve become Catholic two years ago, but I didn’t know any of this about his background! Thanks Matt for having him on, this channel invites fascinating people for interviews. This is the one of the few I’ve watched in its entirety - the others were J. Budziswski and Dcn Harold Burke-Sivers.
I’ve always been curious, what exactly are Lutherans protesting anymore. Based off Martin Luther’s original complaints all the issues have been fixed. Will it just been a never ending list of protest?
When they were talking about hearing people from different traditions/languages etc. preaching the Gospel it reminded me of what I’ve thought for some time.. that the existence of different (orthodox) denominations is kind of beautiful because different flavors of presentations of the Gospel are going to resonate with different kinds of people. My Appalachian grandmother feels much more at home in her tiny little country church with emotional, simple preaching than she does visiting my Anglican Church, but the Gospel of Jesus Christ is preached faithfully in both places. I know Catholics will disagree with me but I haven’t (yet) been persuaded that different denominations are necessarily a bad thing, largely for that reason.
The problem with denominations is that they can fall into heresy. For example, some state the Bible approves of homosexual behavior. The positive I see of Protestantism is that it may be a gate way to the true church that might not have been as easy to connect if Protestantism didn’t exist.
@ With regard to heresy, and I don’t claim to know everything, so I could be mistaken or not thinking clearly, but it seems like in many of the examples of denominations in which that kind of thing has happened, there has been a “remnant” God has preserved who go on to form “new” denominations. In reality, those “new denominations” are just the faithful who have not abandoned their church’s original doctrines but are rather reconvening under a different name in order to separate themselves from the name that became corrupted. Two examples I know of personally are the Global Methodist Church (separated from United Methodist) and the Anglican Church in North America (formerly the Episcopal church). I say all that to ask if what happens to Protestant churches in those situations is really much different from excommunication or something similar, since the original church still exists, just under a different label?
1:30:37 I think this is an important issue that we need to talk about more. What makes the Eucharist valid? We need a better understanding of this. More and more I hear Protestants say they believe in the real presence….and they think their “communion” is valid. Why is the priesthood necessary?
I'm Catholic, but I have to say, I love the way Ruslan explains the Bible, if he ever became a Catholic, he would not only have that great super power because he has read scripture so much and studied, but he would also have everything else. I think the future is bright for him, there's something about him. Lord, let Your will be done in his life.
When you were discussing pioneer Christians with technology and Ruslan mentioned he thought there was early involvement in television, I was a little bit disappointed that Matt didn't bring up Archbishop Fulton Sheen who was the father of televangelism with the very first and most popular Christian television program, Life is Worth Living.
There’s something about the monetization of the faith that just makes my skin crawl. Many times I’m left with the feeling that it is high time for all of this to be obliterated and thrown into the pit. I have a real hateful part of me that no amount of prayer has truly eradicated. At least as of yet and unfortunately today has been a cold reminder that I too am destined for the pit. But at least all of you with your money and ambitions will also go to heaven. Must be nice to feel so chosen.
Being a pagan currently, I enjoy listening to Matt Fradd, may disagree with him on some points but there are those bits that make sense. Ive always had an appreciation for Cathlocism, not only because I was baptized into it when I was a baby, but also I appreciate the beauty inherent within Catholicism. Keep up the good work, Matt!
To whom it may concern: The first 30 minutes are about how Ruslan started his channel and music. The Last 30 min starts to open up about different topics: - discussion about the comment section @33:00 - Ruslan believes the Gospel is about YOU being great...I disagree with Ruslan; he treats the Gospel as a type of Law of attraction philosophy with a Jesus Cover. - Background on his Oriental orthodox church - Things MF likes about Protestants - Has Ruslan ever considered connecting back to his Orthodox Roots? - Discussion on Icons - How Rulan wants to just be Christian because it feels right to him, and he would instead defer the apologetics to folks of authority..... Opinion: Interesting thought process, very liberal. - working on the chapters.
Real question, are you located in Steubenville or in Florida? I guess it doesn’t matter but you’ve said “here in Steubenville” a few times but your about info says Florida. Are you commuting weekly? 😂
They have moved the family to Florida for Cameron’s health. However, episodes are still being recorded in Steubenville until a new studio can be established in Florida. Historically, Matt will record a bunch of episodes back-to-back-to-back but release them slowly, allowing them to go on vacation, for example. I would imagine the current arrangement is similar: travel to Steubenville, record as many episodes as possible in a short amount of time, travel back to Florida, stay with the family for a long time, repeat.
Please don't change your channel Matt, it's great as is regarding the content. Do like the idea of the clips going on a seperate channel though as the clips filled up too much of my notifications as I love the long discussions and watch them to the end regardless how many hours they are (with pauses for work, sleep, etc. then continue. Thank you @PintswithAquinas
Hi Matt, it would be great if you made a Luminous Mysteries lofi song, ive enjoyed praying along with the Joyful, Sorrowful, and Glorious lofi but i miss the Luminous mysteries
It's so wild! I almost couldn't believe that was him. Even if it was all just an act, he was very talented. It's a shame that his life ended so early. I'm an east coast guy and always favored Biggie, but I really can't listen to most of them anymore as I have matured and grown closer to Christ, the vulgarity no longer appeals to me. A good thing I'm sure, though I do miss those beats and those flows. ❤️🙏
The printing press question was the Gutenberg translation. (Johannes Gutenberg created the printing press) Martin Luther translated the Greek, Hebrew, and Latin into German and Gutenberg selected that translation.
This is a perfect example of CCC 820 & 821 being put into practice. Bravo Matt. I love watching Bless God Studios because he's a Christian without being anti-Catholic. Believe it or not though, Ruslan, you're on your way home! 😁 Keep seeking truth, and rejecting those who preach falsehood and division. Those with ears to hear..
I grew up Catholic and have been going to non denominational / Protestant church for the past two years... still wrestling with that . Sometimes I wonder if I can just be both 😂 excited to watch this
We are to be One flock with One faith.. Do Catholics believe protestants can be saved, Yes. No fault of their own, will they be saved. Those who were entrusted much, much more will be demanded. (Luke 12:48)
To be absent from the body is to present with the Lord is a misquote. "...we would rather be away from the body AND at home with the Lord." 2 Corinthians 5:8
So when Christ broke bread and drank wine, establishing his new covenant with believers - If we could have cut him open, would one have found his own flesh and blood? Yet - he actually had not died on the cross yet?? Transubstantiation is unnecessary for one to see the beauty and sanctity of celebrating the Eucharist IMHO. As a former Catholic - I do, however, love Catholic music and how the sacrament is performed. I love your content, and this episode was so good. But most importantly, I love your passion for your faith. If you are going to be Catholic, be Catholic. Blessings to you and your family!
As a former Catholic, now Baptist. I don't see an issue with people changing denominations. I don't agree with praying to the dead, the pope, the authority of the Catholic church. But I if people believe in Christ and his resurrection, I don't think difference in doctrine should divide us as Christians. God bless my Catholic friends.
Matt Fradd and his guest Ruslan, just two pals you'd find chillin on the lawn. Talkin bout religion, Catholic or Protestant, do I have to make a decision? In the end we both believe in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and I think all things considered, that should suffice.
@joshranowsky8083 honestly I feel the same way. I attend a Baptist church, but I truly appreciate the catholic faith and view them as brothers and sisters in christ. I guess many would say that you do have to choose, because of the nature of the belief that one is the true church, and the other is deceived. Disunity hurts Mt heart though
I see Ruslan trying to agree as much as possible with Matt. As a evangelical protestant, we have many similarities but there are significant differences. Also not all protestants are the same. Ruslan seems like he's not sure about protestant denomination's theology on communion or purgatory. Some protestants don't know their own theological understanding on sacrements and topics like purgatory or praying to saints. Its good that catholics learn why they believe what the Church teaches.
I pray he become a Catholic and comes to know the truth of the Catholic faith and Jesus’s church. He will bring many souls to Christ. I also pray for Joe Rogan to become Catholic.
Creators largely get the audience they deserve because they set the tone. That said, there will always be the potential for haters when it comes to addressing controversial topics
Gallowbraid - Ashen Eidolon An entire heavy metal album about the beauty of Autumn. Nature based black metal is infact an entire genre. Add it to your list, enjoy.
For the record, we did not learn altar calls from Protestants. In the early church, confessions were public, in front of the congregation. A lot would happen in this open setting. Ppl would prophesy and speak in tongues too
I'm all for helping the poor, but "the leasr of these" is not a general statement about the poor. Jesus said, "the least of these brothers of mine." "Brothers" would be believers. The interpretation I find compelling is that it's about how people received those who brought the gospel to them.
To receive His Real True Presence in the Eucharist one must be in state of grace ie free from mortal sin otherwise one commits sacrilege 1 Cor 11:23-27
1:44:45 It may not be that there are more examples of people taking their Catholicism seriously. It maybe that those people weren’t in his environment then as they are now. That’s what I have noticed with family and friends that believe that.

🕊️Should anyone profit in anyway from our Heavenly Father’s words❓
1️⃣Separate from scripture, do Jesus’ followers need anything extra, including money to “support” their preaching & teaching of our Father’s words❓
🕊️“Then Jesus asked them, “When I sent you out to preach the Good News and you did not have money, a traveler’s bag, or an extra pair of sandals, did you need anything?” “No,” they replied.” Luke 22:35
🕊️“As you go, make this proclamation: ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Cure the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, drive out demons. Without cost you have received; without cost you are to give. Do not take gold or silver or copper for your belts; no sack for the journey, or a second tunic, or sandals, or walking stick. The laborer deserves his keep. Whatever town or village you enter, look for a worthy person in it, and stay there until you leave.” Matthew 10:7-11
2️⃣Did Jesus speak about how being rich was destructive to religious leaders or anyone in general❓
🕊️“Once a religious leader asked Jesus this question: “Good Teacher, what should I do to inherit eternal life?” “Why do you call me good?” Jesus asked him. In fact, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of God!” Luke 18:18-25
Ask yourself, Why⁉️ Why Would our Father bless any religious leader or anyone in general with money if Jesus claimed that being rich would make it hard for anyone to enter his kingdom❓
3️⃣Did the Apostles require any form of payment in order to “support” their preaching & teaching of our Father’s words❓
🕊️“If I were doing this on my own initiative, I would deserve payment. But I have no choice, for God has given me this sacred trust. What then is my pay? It s the opportunity to preach the Good News without charging anyone. That’s why I never demand my rights when I preach the Good News.” 1 Corinthians 9:17-18
4️⃣Did the Apostles speak about those who preach & teach for personal profit❓
🕊️“You see, we are not like the many hucksters who preach for personal profit. We preach the word of God with sincerity and with Christ’s authority, knowing that God is watching us.” 2 Corinthians 2:17
5️⃣Why should these people who preach & teach our Father’s words for personal profit be silenced❓
🕊️“They must be silenced, because they are turning whole families away from the truth by their false teaching. And they do it only for money.” Titus 1:11
6️⃣Are those who preach & teach for personal profit condemned❓
🕊️“In their greed they will make up clever lies to get hold of your money. But God condemned them long ago, and their destruction will not be delayed.” 2 Peter 2:3
7️⃣Is there a difference between money that goes directly to an individual and money that’s distributed amongst its church members ❓
🕊️“All the believers were united in heart and mind. And they felt that what they owned was not their own, so they shared everything they had. The apostles testified powerfully to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and God’s great blessing was upon them all. There were no needy people among them, because those who owned land or houses would sell them and bring the money to the apostles to give to those in need.” Acts of the Apostles 4:32-35
Did the Apostles keep money for themselves for personal profit❓
Did the Apostles families benefit financially from the donations they received❓
Did any of the Apostles live a life of luxury❓
Why then would our Father “bless” anyone with personal profit when he didn’t even do that for the Apostles❓
8️⃣Did the Apostles warn us about people within our own groups who would distort the truth along with these false prophets, false apostles & false teachers in order to gain followers as well❓
🕊️“I know that false teachers, like vicious wolves, will come in among you after I leave, not sparing the flock. Even some men from your own group will rise up and distort the truth in order to draw a following.” Acts of the Apostles 20:29-30
9️⃣Should those who preach our Father’s words work for their own money separate from that preaching❓
🕊️“Don’t you remember, dear brothers and sisters, how hard we worked among you? Night and day we toiled to earn a living so that we would not be a burden to any of you as we preached God’s Good News to you.” 1 Thessalonians 2:9
🕊️The quotes provided below are historical facts in reference to our early church which existed prior to Romes adoption of Christianity in 313 A.D.
Church:
📖"Let no man do anything connected with the Church without the bishop. A.D. 110)]
Bishop, Priest & Deacon:
📖“Since, then, I have had the privilege of seeing you, through Damas your most worthy bishop, and through your worthy presbyters Bassus and Apollonius, and through my fellow-servant the deacon Sotio, whose friendship may I ever enjoy, because he is subject to the bishop as to the grace of God, and to the presbytery as to the law of Jesus Christ [St. Ignatius of Antioch- Letter to the Magnesians 2 (c. A.D. 110)].
Eucharist:
📖“Take note of those who hold heterodox opinions on the grace of Jesus Christ, which have come to us, and see how contrary their opinions are to the mind of God... A.D. 110)].
Scripture:
📖“[W]hoever perverts the sayings of the Lord for his own desires, and says that there is neither resurrection nor judgment, is the firstborn of Satan. Let us leave the foolishness and the false teaching of the crowd and turn back to the word that was delivered to us in the beginning.” [St. Polycrap of Smyrna - Letter to the Philippians 7 (c. A.D. 135)].
Sunday:
📖“But Sunday is the day on which we all hold our common assembly, because it is the first day on which God, having wrought a change in the darkness and matter, made the world; and Jesus Christ our Savior on the same day rose from the dead.” [St. Justin Martyr - First Apology 67 (c. A.D. 151)].
Actions/Works:
📖“We have learned from the prophets, and we believe it is true, that punishments, and chastisements, and good rewards, are rendered according to the merit of each man's actions. If it is not so, then all things happen by fate, and nothing is in our own power. If it is fated that this man be good, and this other evil, the former is not meritorious nor the latter blameworthy [St. Justin Martyr - First Apology 43 (c. A.D. 151)].
Apostolic Succession:
📖“It is within the power of all, in every church, who may wish to see the truth, to contemplate clearly the Tradition of the apostles manifested throughout the whole world; and we are in a position to reckon up those who were instituted bishops in the churches by the apostles, and [to demonstrate] the succession of these men to our own times; those who neither taught nor knew anything these [heretics] rave about.” [St. Irenaeus of Lyons - Against Heresies 3:3:1 (c. A.D. 189)]
Baptism:
📖“The children shall be baptized first. All the children who can answer for themselves, let them answer. If there are any children who cannot answer for themselves, let their parents answer for them, or someone else from their family.” [St. Hippolytus of Rome - Apostolic Tradition 21 (c. A.D. 215)].
Confession:
📖“After this, one of the bishops present, at the request of all, laying his hand on him who is ordained bishop, shall pray this way: O God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. pour forth the power that is from you, of "the princely Spirit' that you delivered to your beloved Child, Jesus Christ, and that he bestowed on your holy apostles, who established the Church that hallows you everywhere, for the endless glory and praise of your name. A.D. 215)].
Confirmation:
📖“The bishop will then lay his hand upon them, invoking, "Lord God, you who have made these worthy of the removal of sins through the bath of regeneration, make them worthy to be filled with your Holy Spirit, grant to them your grace, that they might serve you according to your will, for to you is the glory, Father and Son with the Holy Spirit, in the holy Church, now and throughout the ages of the ages. A.D. 215).
Peter’s Authority:
📖“The Lord says to Peter: "I say to you,' he says, “that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of hell will not overcome it.
Is the Catholic Church Jesus’ original church❓Yes❗️
Does this excuse all its mistakes and sins from the record❓Of course not❗️As Christians, we are called to hold the church accountable, not leave it and let evil flourish within it.
Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ,” Ephesians 4:11-15
We are called by God to unite! What better church to do it under than the one he started.
🕊️Should Christians renounce religion (The Catholic Church)❓ In order to properly understand this statement, we must dive deeper into scripture and allow our Father’s Holy Spirit to reveal his truth.
1. Did the Jewish community reject Jesus’ teachings❓
🕊️“When they heard this, all in the synagogue were filled with wrath. And they rose up and put him out of the city, and led him to the brow of the hill on which their city was built, that they might throw him down headlong. But passing through the midst of them he went away.” Luke 4:28-30
2. Did the Jewish community reject Jesus’ as our Lord & Savior❓
🕊️”For those who live in Jerusalem and their rulers, because they did not recognize him nor understand the utterances of the prophets which are read every sabbath, fulfilled these by condemning him.” Acts 13:27
3. Did Jesus pick the Apostle Peter to build his church❓
🕊️“And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.” Matthew 16:18
4. Did Jesus’ request to the Apostle Peter to build his church lead the Apostle Paul to create a new religion amongst them❓
🕊️“Great indeed, we confess, is the mystery of our religion: He was manifested in the flesh, vindicated in the Spirit, seen by angels, preached among the nations, believed on in the world, taken up in glory.” 1 Timothy 3:16
5. Did the Apostles appoint elders (presbyters / priests) in every church❓
🕊️”And when they had appointed elders for them in every church, with prayer and fasting, they committed them to the Lord in whom they believed.” Acts 14:23
6. Were decisions within the Christian religion made by the Apostles in conjunction with the Elders (presbyters / priests)❓
🕊️“As they went on their way through the cities, they delivered to them for observance the decisions which had been reached by the apostles and elders who were at Jerusalem. So the churches were strengthened in the faith, and they increased in numbers daily.” Acts 16:4-5
7. Did the Apostle Peter see himself equally with the elders (presbyters / priests)❓
🕊️”So I exhort the elders among you, as a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ as well as a partaker in the glory that is to be revealed. Tend the flock of God that is your charge, not by constraint but willingly, not for shameful gain but eagerly, not as domineering over those in your charge but being examples to the flock. And when the chief Shepherd is manifested you will obtain the unfading crown of glory.” 1 Peter 5:1-4
8. Did Deacons, Elders (presbyters / priests) & Bishops exist within the Christian religion prior to Rome’s adoption of it in 313 A.D.❓
🕊️“And let them also be tested first; then if they prove themselves blameless let them serve as deacons.” 1 Timothy 3:10
🕊️“These they set before the apostles, and they prayed and laid their hands upon them. And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests were obedient to the faith.” Acts 6:6-7
🕊️“Now a bishop must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, temperate, sensible, dignified, hospitable, an apt teacher,” 1 Timothy 3:2
9. Does the Christian religion with its Deacons, Elders (presbyters / priests) & Bishops remove Jesus as the head of the church❓
🕊️”He is the head of the body, the Church; he is the beginning, the first-born from the dead, that in everything he might be pre-eminent. For in him all the fulness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.” Colossians 1:18-20
10. Does the Christian religion recognize Jesus as having full authority over the church❓
🕊️”And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you; and behold, I am with you always, to the close of the age.” - Matthew 28:18-20
11. Did the Apostles ask us to stand firm in the traditions we’ve been taught which included deacons, priests and bishops being a part of the church❓
🕊️“So then, brethren, stand firm and hold to the traditions which you were taught by us, either by word of mouth or by letter. Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts and establish them in every good work and word.” 2 Thessalonians 2:15-17
12. Did the Apostles ask us to stay away from people who are not in accord with the traditions that we’ve received which included deacons, priests and bishops within the church❓
🕊️“Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you keep away from any brother who is walking in idleness and not in accord with the tradition that you received from us. For you yourselves know how you ought to imitate us; we were not idle when we were with you,” 2 Thessalonians 3:6-7
13. Did the Apostles approve of people passing down traditions which included deacons, priests and bishops being a part of the church ❓
🕊️Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ. I commend you because you remember me in everything and maintain the traditions even as I have delivered them to you.” 1 Corinthians 11:1-2
14. Should we avoid people who hold the form of religion but deny the power of it❓
🕊️“But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of stress. Avoid such people.” 2 Timothy 3:1-5
15. How is someone’s Christian religion demonstrated as vain❓
🕊️”If any one thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this man’s religion is vain.” James 1:26
16. Are we called to hold our Christian religion accountable❓
🕊️”Take heed to yourselves; if your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him;” Luke 17:3
🕊️”Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Look to yourself, lest you too be tempted. Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. For if any one thinks he is something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself.” Galatians 6:1-3
🕊️”As for those who persist in sin, rebuke them in the presence of all, so that the rest may stand in fear. In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus and of the elect angels I charge you to keep these rules without favor, doing nothing from partiality.” 1 Timothy 5:20-21
🕊️”For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Is it not those inside the Church whom you are to judge? God judges those outside. “Drive out the wicked person from among you.” 1 Corinthians 5:12-13
17. Does anyone within the Christian religion supersede our Father’s words❓
🕊️“And when they had brought them, they set them before the council. And the high priest questioned them, saying, “We strictly charged you not to teach in this name, yet here you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and you intend to bring this man’s blood upon us.” But Peter and the apostles answered, “We must obey God rather than men.” Acts 5:27-29
18. Are we called to follow the Christian religion blindly❓
🕊️”Then the disciples came and said to him, “Do you know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this saying?” He answered, “Every plant which my heavenly Father has not planted will be rooted up. Let them alone; they are blind guides. And if a blind man leads a blind man, both will fall into a pit.” Matthew 15:12-14
19. How is the Christian religion considered pure and undefiled by our Father❓
🕊️”Religion that is pure and undefiled before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.” James 1:27
20. Should we renounce irreligion❓
🕊️”For the grace of God has appeared for the salvation of all men, training us to renounce irreligion and worldly passions, and to live sober, upright, and godly lives in this world, awaiting our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ,” Titus 2:11-13

❤
I feel you brother, that’s sad reality
@@Happenstance20 I am a Protestant and see Catholics and brothers and sisters in Christ
Huge resemblance between political left and right, wouldn’t you say? The intolerant left that is so good at projection and rejection is akin to the arrogance of Protestantism and how they shun converts as if they’re leaving them behind for a better Truth.

Ruslan comes off so chill and unpretentious in his videos. Watching him being interviewed here makes me realize how intelligent he really is.
I would dare say inspired
As a Protestant, I have grown deeper in my Protestant roots and faith because of this type dialogue. It clarifies many caricatures of both Protestant and non-Protestants. Thankyou for your charitable conversations! All love for our brothers and sisters 🙏🏼✝️
So much so that they are categorized as non-protestants?
@@ManuelHernandez-xt8pr Correct! Christian institutions that are considered Non-Protestant would fall under subdivisions such as: Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, Oriental orthodox, Assyrian Orthodox and Anglicanism.
Protestants have a few subdivisions such as: Lutheran, Baptist, Methodist, Presbyterian, Pentecostal, non-denominational and a few others.
Yet we are all brothers and sisters in Christ ✝️
@ I see. I hadn’t heard it described that way.
This is honestly great! My two favorite Christian RUclipsrs having a talk that was more productive and edifying than most clips. God bless you both!
This is a great interview/conversation, especially because Matt provided Ruslan with plenty of room to talk and expand upon ideas. I learned a lot and my admiration for both has grown. Top notch.
Love these conversations!
Ruslan and Ortlund are wonderful men of the faith. Interview Doug Wilson next and break the internet 😄
@@ThePostmillennial yes! Invite Doug.
😂
I am a very proud Catholic and straight up. Ruslan is top 3 for me! Love his content!!!! I'm so happy he's here!
Yes, perfectly stated!
Protestantism is like having a delicious steak all by itself. Catholicism is having that same delicious steak, but with salad, green beans, mashed potatoes, carrots, cranberry sauce, wine, and desert…all of those enhance the meal and don’t take away from the deliciousness of the steak.
Too many carbs. Just kidding I get what your saying
Truth is all that is needed
The fact you would even grant the Prots a steak is very modernist of you.
Great conversation. Appreciate Ruslan a lot 😊
I saw this on locals, but it was a brilliant conversation. I had to watch it again.
I was so excited to see Ruslan here! I have enjoyed many of his videos and love Matt! These 2 have great content and I have to say I didn’t know Ruslans story. , and now I admire him even more! Such intelligent conversation! ❤
I like Thursday's role in those first 30 seconds! haha
YESSSSS! So excited for this ❤
I've been hoping for this for a while! Yay!
BEEN WAITING AGES FOR THIS
100% I agree Ruslan has brought me other content creators to follow. To keep me Jesus rounded. Great interview. We love you both.
Wow, it really broke my heart when he started talking about why he left the church as a child and what he went through. 💔 Lord have mercy.
Excellent. Really enjoyed this and you were both so humble and open. Really interesting
Haha
1:24:22 What he quoted as “to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord” Is a common misquotation, since it actually says “…would rather be absent from the body and present with the Lord”
This means that it doesn’t imply an immediate change, here is an analogy “I would rather be absent from work and at home with my kids” this doesn’t mean it is impossible to be for example on a train on the way home. The train being analogous to purgatory.
Such a cool crossover of worlds here - excited to watch
Let’s go! Love both u guys 🙏💪
Great episode! Thanks
Really appreciate Ruslan now. Thanks for having him and thanks to Ruslan for coming on!
I’m Lutheran (Lcms) and I believe Catholics are my brothers and sisters in Christ.
@@bk24708 same here
I’ve always been curious, what exactly are Lutherans protesting anymore. Based off Martin Luther’s original complaints all the issues have been fixed. Will it just been a never ending list of protest?
An enjoyable conversation!
My favorite Catholic RUclipsr and my favorite Protestant RUclipsr in one place I love this!
I enjoyed learning more about Ruslan and I loved the conversation.
This was great!
I teared up when Matt gave a shout out to the single mothers. Thank you Matt.
Buzzing for this!!
Glad to see Ruslan here. As a Catholic I enjoy watching his podcasts. 👍
It is so pleasant to be able to hear two people having an intelligent discussion allowing each other to have different views.
I pray Ruslan finds our Lord in Most Holy Eucharist.

@@benadek6703how can he be good if he has not eaten the Body of Christ?
Loved the Jesus Freak mention ! Great book ! My big sister had the book and I read it !
Ruslan is so smart and kind!
1:01:00 I heard a pro skater say something similar, about the rabble telling him to go home because they wanted something better for him.
Great questioning, really. Felt like you were going to bring Ruslan into the Church on air!
Nah won’t happen
@@benadek6703 i am myself struggling to confirm. i disagree w/ the perpetual virginity of Mary dogma, on account of Matthew chapter 1 lol verse 24-25.
I pray my rosary...not catholic...just a lil
May the Lord continue to guide you, brother.
To whom it may concern:
The first 30 minutes are about how Ruslan started his channel and music.
The Last 30 min starts to open up about different topics:
- discussion about the comment section @33:00
- Ruslan believes the Gospel is about YOU being great...I disagree with Ruslan; he treats the Gospel as a type of Law of attraction philosophy with a Jesus Cover.
- Background on his Oriental orthodox church
- Things MF likes about Protestants
- Has Ruslan ever considered connecting back to his Orthodox Roots?
- Discussion on Icons
- How Rulan wants to just be Christian because it feels right to him, and he would instead defer the apologetics to folks of authority..... Opinion: Interesting thought process, very liberal.
- working on the chapters.
Very helpful. Thanks!
@ the time stamps are off because I was editing during the premiere.
I’ll finish up later.
Very uncharitable take
Correction: I don't know your heart, but that's how it came across to me
@@SaintlySaavyfalse Ruslan does not believe nor did he state about YOU being great when it comes to the gospel
@ that makes total sense lol. I was just trying to make a dumb commuting joke in the end but this does make me less confused

@11:42 Tupac was a somewhat, flamboyant theatre kid. His persona was an act. May he rest in peace.
Crazy the difference between the video of him before he became famous and everything after. Looks like it had to be an act.
Kudos. I love Ruslan. Thanks for interviewing this lovely gentleman 😊😊
Hail from San Diego. Very cool.

This is a perfect example of CCC 820 & 821 being put into practice. Bravo Matt. I love watching Bless God Studios because he's a Christian without being anti-Catholic.

Even the demons believe It is Trust in Jesus Christ alone
Mormons believe in Jesus. How important is correct doctrine in your view?
Ask ruslan if he's ever heard of Catholic rappers. Like foundnation, c2six, Father Claude burns aka Pontifex, Val Mural.
Im curious now Matt, you mentioned 15 mysteries of the rosary. What of the Luminous mysteries?
I pray he become a Catholic and comes to know the truth of the Catholic faith and Jesus’s church. He will bring many souls to Christ. I also pray for Joe Rogan to become Catholic.

1:28:07 is Josiah Thursday’s real name or someone else working for PWA?!? 🤔🤔
As a Protestant my issues fall primarily under the denial of the Eucharist for not being in grace (confession etc)
