I’m gonna answer some common questions here for you 🥰 these I found in the comments section. Why no dryer? In ireland we absolutely use dryers, but not all homes have them as using washing lines and hanging outside is really common and that is what I do. In winter I use a “clothes horse” or the radiator. Newer homes are made with space for dryers, some older homes put them under the stairs but this can be a fire hazard. My mam has her dryer on her shed 👍🏼 Can you move the fridge? Not as easily, as there is a skirting board that pushes it out/the wall where the door knocks. This could absolutely be reconfigured but I like the fridge tucked away on the corner. Can you remove the wall? This is a load bearing wall and would not be as easy to remove. I love reading all your suggestions in this weeks video and there was some great tips as well for adding an extra support on the shelf. I appreciate you guys taking the time to comments and interact in our little creative community. I hope you all have a lovely weekend and week ahead ❤️🥰
In most states in America a clothes line outside is not allowed. Can you believe that?! My plan is retire back home in Jamaica where I can do whatever I want in my yard that I paid for. 😂😂
@@carollove8752 I never knew that until I read the comments, that must be so frustrating, In Ireland we have a funny saying, when the weather is warm and windy we say "great day for the drying"
You have the ability to literally make every space whatsoever pretty and functional at the same time, love love looove it! Watching declutter videos is so satisfying! ♥️
Bravo! It went from slightly grubby, overcrowded, and chaotic to serene, clean, and well organized! You did a great job! And you have those glorious beautiful Irish Eyes! My mom had them-only more green than blue.
Hello Catherine! Good to see you! Note from a life long cat mother - I could tell the picture Blondie in the garden sun looked a little sad. She knows Pepsi is missing. Your project came out terrific. It could be an Elf space. It is shocking what leaks under appliances...Recently I had to move our electric kitchen stove and It was beyond words. Thank goodness I moved it out and cleaned it before the repairman arrived ! He would have cancelled my appointment!
😇💜 Hi Catherine, I have been watching your channel now, for four years, and I always refer to you, as my SWEET friend from Ireland, and I to think of you, as a close friend.🤗 Whenever I share with My Hubby 😎 , what you have been doing, in or around your house 🏡, and also the places you have taken us to, like on your getaways, so now, whenever I'm sharing with My Hubby 😎, anything about you, he says, is that your friend Catherine, and I say yes, she's My SWEET friend from Ireland.🤗💜 Blonde looks so beautiful, sitting in your garden 🏡🌞 I HOPE that, each day is getting a little easier, because of Pepsi passing, I know it's not ever easy, when we loose one of our fur babies, because I think of them, as one of our family members.🤗💜 Take Care SWEETIE and Thank you for sharing.😘🤗💜💜💜
Well young lady, you never cease to amaze me with your Ingenuity and clever use of all of your tiny doll house. It is so adorable 🥰 and it fits you perfectly. I never realized that a refrigerator could be that small. I can’t wait to see what you may do when you sell this house and buy a larger house. I have a hard time waiting for your next video. Thank you for sharing. Ann from Va. USA 🇺🇸
I love love love how you tackle every little project with no fear and great enthusiasm. I'm always pleased and smiling when a notification comes in from you.
We are fortunate enough to have a Utility Room. It is kind of on the small side, but it also serves as our Pantry and a Mud Room where we store mops, brooms, cleaning products, etc. The best part of the entire space is that we have a large utility sink. That sink has been a lifesaver when it comes to home improvement, gardening and painting projects. Such a great resource for washing paint brushes or soil from fresh veggies from our garden. You did a great job with your Laundry Nook!
I like how you put in a shelf. Your containers are so cute. The Mom in me is judging your birdseed jar... not big enough, but it's an adorable shape. I am always so proud of you when you share your projects & you're doing all the work. I love how capable, independent, & creative you are. While I'm watching I always say "You Go, Girl!" Can you hear me cheering you on from Nashville? Now, if it was my laundry nook, I'd have it a mess again by next week. I enjoy dumping stuff in my laundry room & shutting the door. I'm one of those people with the utility room off the garage. The kids call it "Crap central." 🙂 Enjoy your little house, I think it's just lovely! 💜
For some strange reason, it is so satisfying to watch someone else clean up a messy space and make it shine! For that reason, I loved this video! Great idea to use containers. If you don't mind me saying that there is still some room for shelves on the left side wall to hold your pegs. Those little nooks as you put it are charming and give so much character to homes that you don't see in new construction. You have made such a lovely haven for yourself and thank you for sharing it with us. And we ALL can't wait to see your greenhouse!
I am a tall person and believe me,i love small houses and cottages like you have in Irland or England. I love your video,it is inspiring and you are a gorgeous person with wonderful sense of humour. I'd like you to be my friend😊🌻.
What is so lovely about you is that you don't realise how funny your remarks are, I could watch your videos over and over. "This could be my panic room"Priceless!! Take good care of yourself honey.
That's exactly what I was thinking too! Συμφωνώ απόλυτα κ.Ελένη!😉 Catherine why don't you try it? It's a lovely place and you'll have a dainty utility room!😍
I loved it! The shelf idea was brilliant. You gave yourself so much more usable space. Sending love to Blondie. She will miss Pepsi for a while. You know how cats are, they behave indifferent but really they are plugged into everything around them. She is missing Pepsi's aura and can feel a shift in the house. She may also be taping into your grief and sad for you. Love to your house.
You are just adorable! I laughed out loud when you said if you had a "utility room," you would fill it with junk or crap. Guess what? I live is the USA and I have one and.......... yes, it's filled with junk!!! I love your videos, girl!
I always forget to say this: you have glorious hair. My kitchen is so small that we had to put the dishwasher on a shelf above the washing machine......so I have to stand on a step sometimes to fill the top shelf of the dishwasher. But at least I have a dishwasher so I'm not complaining!
You would love a laundry room, and I am forever dreaming of a pantry. I would have turned the whole space where the fridge and washing machine now stands into a pantry with a wee sliding barn door to finish it off. 😁 Enough of pantries and what-not. You did a great job souping up that area. 👍
Hi Catherine. My laundry is small (to me) but functional. It IS part of a utility room that includes furnace, hot water heater and water softener. My stacked bright red washer and dryer are huge. I have a utility sink and a 5 foot kitchen cabinet with counter. The space holds a small chest freezer. Every inch is used. Walls are gray block concrete…not pretty. But I will quit complaining right now after seeing the size of your laundry. I admire your efficient use of space…and it’s pretty as well. I’ll work on making my crowded space more aesthetically pleasing! 🥰
Oh my gosh you are so cute "We need to go out and get 10 more cats, that's what we should do". Too cute! Love your home and always excited to see what you bring to us every Thursday. I am with you on the toilet paper, I am on my last roll too. I know it is 1st on my list for shopping this weekend.
I’m sorry about the loss of your cat dear😢 I wasn’t aware I have just discovered you and still have loads of your videos to watch. I’m always so inspired after watching what you’ve gotten up to each time. 💕😊
Very nice. I thought at first it was the washer & dryer all in one combo. They wash them it turns into a dryer great for small spaces 💞 Watching from Michigan 🇺🇸USA
You are so enjoyable. Get three more jars. Giggle I'm sure you can use them for washing pods, or cleaning brushes, or cat toys, now that you'll be getting 10 kitties. 😂 Fabulous shelf ! Great basket for extra T.P. I got a utility room after a fire, way cool it enen has a small sink. I have the washer & dryer next to each other, instead of facing each other. 10 years later....... You did a great job as always. My only suggestion is to put at least a couple of blocks of wood under the new shelf so it won't bow in the center , as another person mentioned. I think you will end up painting the fridge pink :) Like me, pink is our color. I LOVE having a laundry room. I will never live in a home without one. tfs 🥰💐🌷🌵🌸🌞🏜️💗🥰💐🌷🌵🌸🌞🏜️💗🥰💐🌷🌵🌸🌞🏜️💗
I’m in the same position as you Catherine. I live in a small bungalow with no storage space. Even the hot press was demolished and a combi-boiler sited in the loft. Just this week I purchased containers for my dry dog food, dog mixer, and bird feed. I bought clear plastic lidded ‘jugs’ with detachable measuring cups and they line up neatly across the back of a worktop. Talking of utility rooms, I dream of having one too! Somewhere with a space to hang drying clothes, an ironing board that can be left upright, and space to fold clean laundry. Like the ones on Pinterest that American folk have (apparently) 😃
I'm converting my adjoining garage into a laundry room, small downstairs loo and my craft room at the moment.. I opted for a smaller loo and laundry room to get a bigger craft room🤪.. After all who needs a big space to put the washer on and u only need a seat & a small basin in a loo room😂.. So the craft room won! Great makeover girl, u always make the best of what you have👏 I just love your pretty dresses Catherine, u always make me smile ☺ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
You could put a command hook on the side of your washing machine and hang the clothes pegs off that. It would be out of the way and less likely to get knocked off when taking stuff of shelf. Love your videos
I'm sorry to hear about your pink refrigerator. My 4 yr old granddaughter and I watched with joy as you painted it pink (her favorite color). She couldn't believe she might be able to grow up one day and have a pink one just like yours. 🤗
I love utility rooms too. My sister just bought a new build house and I'm obsessed with the utility room. It's massive and even has a window, in an Irish house!
Great job Catherine. You need to make some pretty labels for your Cat Food and Bird Food with your Cricket Machine and a even a nice glass jar (like your Bird Seed jar) to put your washing pods in.
Your videos brought some joy into the neverending days of lockdown. Thank you! When I discovered your channel I binge watched to the point I was hearing my inner voice speaking with an Irish accent (I'm Canadian). I'm very sorry about Pepsi :(
I would love a utility room ........ I don't even have nook lol. It look like your nook would have been a pantry. Loved seeing your transformation. thank you.
You have the most ADORABLE home…. Even with the little laundry nook… so cute & cozy. I am amazed at how handy you are with tools and measurements…… you have proven to me and I am sure many other single ladies like us…. You don’t need a man to take care of the home…. You do amazing on your own…. Thank you for these GREAT videos…. I am definitely learning from you. You are truly a BLESSING. 💝🌺💝🌸
As soon as you started to talk about laundry/utility rooms I wanted to comment and say - I have one and it’s FULL of stuff! Hahahaha. But you beat me to it! I love your channel. ❤️
In Canada, we call it a laundry room. Yes, most of the homes here are made with a real room but some homes have a laundry room in the basement. Most have them on the main floor which is my favourite and some newer homes occasionally have them on the upper floor which is not ideal for so many reasons. Who wants to run up and down just to flip laundry? What if there's a leak? And no one wants to go to bed with the sound of the washing machine and dryer running. You definitely made better use of that nook under the stairs. Smart of the builder to make that space available, it could have been all closed off. Funny but I just finished painting our laundry room today. We had new tiling put in, we installed a new bamboo wood countertop across the machines. We already had board and batten up and we kept that. I did a chalk paint wash over the stone we had on the backsplash. :)
Love your hair and that green smocked dress on you !! Poor Blondie. I had two cats cohabitat for 14 years and when the older, timid one died I thought the 'bully cat' wouldn't care but alas, no - seemed she missed having someone to hassle, steal food and muscle out of the way of the heater. Cats, eh !?! Love your channel. Hi from Australia xx
we had a utility room 11 years ago and it was always a mess. It was nice to have space with all your machines in tho in one place with counters and cupboards to sort the washing.
Love it, I wish I had space for anything. One bedroom flat. I have my the side of my fridge freezer which, with a lot of strategic order planning, has my ladders, clothes horse and ironing board at the side. My 1 tall cupboard has a Christmas tree and vacuum cleaner in it. But, if I had a utility room, I guarantee I could fill it 'important stuff ' (junk)within half an hour. Have a lovely weekend.
You did a great job with this project. By the way, just as an aside, you can get a 'perfect' cut with your jig saw by clamping a ruler on your wood and the jig saw plate would rest against the ruler. Bam, you'll have a straight cut. Also, if I may, you can add a piece of trim on the three sides of the wall over the counter and it'll hide the imperfections. Great job on this one !
I don't have a utility room either, though I would love one, I'm an outdoor dryer too! And in the winter it's also a clothes horse for us. I have to admit that drying clothes outside is great and I love putting my bedding straight back on my bed, from the line to the bed is the best. There's nothing quite like it. I'm bad with not putting things away, give me a flat surface and I will use it! It's the same with cupboards, the more I have the more I can fill with any old thing. I love watching your videos you learn us without being condescending. Looking forward to seeing your future videos.
I don't understand why people don't subscribe🤔.. It costs nothing and it is great when you get a message that your new video is out🤗. Lovely as always 🤗. You must be so happy with it now😊. Your MDF is thin, maybe add another support at the front and/or in the middle underneath.. Just to support the weight of the stuff you store on top☺️. Panic room🤣🤣🤣. So agree. I have a small laundry room.. It is never tidy, but not filled with crap.. Just with washing🙈. However I am so glad I do not have a garage or basement (like many Germany houses), because they always seemed to become dumping grounds for crap😭🤣.
Hi Catherine - I've been following your videos for so long I'm starting to talk back to you on the TV screen! After your shopping trip, at one point I think you asked "Did I forget something?" and I'm answering you out loud: "The wall clip for your mop?!" Loved the idea of turning your laundry nook in a panic room ... HI-larious!
Great job!! I have a utility room and guess what? Filled with “crap”! You are to cute! Have a wonderful day and thank you for filling my day with smiles!
Very inspired! Thank you! P.S. You’ve also inspired me to do other things such as sew my own dress, do up a doll house, and loads more. Thanks Catherine.😊
You've inspired me to have a go at my laundry nook cupboard. It's got a tumble dryer, the boiler and a lot of 'stuff' including Europe's largest collection of plastic bags 🤪
I am with you on the quirky laundry space ! We have a "pantry" which has just enough room for a washer and dryer with about a 10 inches for shuffling in sideways to load the washer or get an item off the shelves. To put the appliances in or out the door and wall must be disassembled, an the cabinet outside removed! The appliance then is put on its side and we slide it out! YEP --it's an old house (for the U.S) 1750 - so everything is quirky. I have a plan to add on a REAL pantry and .... utility room(YES) in the next few years because the foundation on that side will need work anyway. It's always something!
Yes! That was my first thought when I saw the washing machine. Fabulous job with the shelf though. Absolutely love watching your videos. So inspiring! 🥰
I think the size of your washing machine and your refrigerator are perfect. I was investigating a ventless clothes dryer a few months back, I never did purchase it.
You should see if anyone/freecycle has an off cut of kitchen work surface, or bed slats, MDF will bend eventually, with the weight or if it gets damp! I used it for my cooking pantry, which, too, was under my stairs, started to bend almost immediately! I cut it in half, stuck it together then made a shorter (depth) shelf for my spices and jars, then bought thicker wood. Loving the space, such a satisfying feeling when you organise something!
Drill a small hole into the washing machine shelf for your little bag I think the knock is cute! Use your cricket to make a picture of a cat eating for Blondies box have fun!!god bless
Nicely done for a small area! And....yes, I think pets do feel a sense of loss. I've had cats before that search for recently passing of one, even take to sleeping in the departed cat's usual spot, to feel their presence, I guess. Your dress is very pretty, I really like the dress and the color looks good on you.
Wow, I wish I had a nook and cranny to put my washer in the USA I have a basement and sometimes I see spiders and it scares the beejeebers out of me. But I would have bought the tins sprayed them the color you like and use the cricket machine to put laundry soap on or whatever on it. As always have a great Friday and weekend and anxiously waiting for next weeks video,
I have a utility room and it is full of crap. It is my next makeover project. I am grateful to have it though. You did a great job on your laundry area. I am thinking of doing something similar over my washer and dryer.
So much more functional and tidy. Nice job. A thin strip of wood from support to support would finish the edge nicely . Maybe that would impede seeing the buttons though, hard to tell from here. I so enjoy your channel and your lovely results.
You have inspired me to have a serious look at my laundry room. Yes, I have an actual laundry room that is quite big as these things go, but it's full of junk. I shall now tackle said junk and make it into a more practical, and usable space. Thanks for the inspiration. What you did looks really great. Just one piece of unsolicited advice: you may wish to add a piece of support under the shelf. Looks like it might sag. Just a transversal piece that you used for the support on the wall.
It looks really functional now. I'm in a flat and my washing machine is in the kitchen, like most older style Irish homes. I'd love a proper laundry room too.
Older American homes tend to have laundry connections in the kitchen also. Thinking it was just a practical way to connect with existing plumbing. I’m thankful to have a laundry closet but it’s in the hallway and can be challenging when people are passing through, no complaining though. I grew up with connections in the garage so doing laundry was so uncomfortable. (In the heat/cold)
You would never know thats there, really good use of space! Your hair looks gorgeous! You are so creative! Can't wait till the next one! Be Safe girl!🍾

Clothes horse, I like that. It sounds much better then drying rack 🤭 I use those and the clothes line too

Hello from Athens greece. A small recomentation. Move the fridge next to your kitchen cabinets. You will have More space in your laudery room
That's exactly what I was thinking too! Συμφωνώ απόλυτα κ.Ελένη!😉 Catherine why don't you try it? It's a lovely place and you'll have a dainty utility room!😍
Fridge looks too deep. Wouldnt be able to get to washer.
I was thinking the same. IF possible I would move the fridge next to the kitchen cabinets.
I love watching your videos, you are so sweet.
Even though the fridge is probably the same depth as the kitchen counter top, she would not be able to open it enough due to the wall there.
Yes, and maybe get a thicker shelf? It may bow with heavy items. Lovely idea.
If you could cut into the horizontal wall that hides the washer, you might be able to create your own utility room! Even add a bifold door to hide it!
A junktility room perfect for me 🤣🤣. You always make the best with your solutions love it
Gotta do what you can with the space you have! Thanks for watching 🥰

You are too cute! If I had a utility room,,,, I’ve always had one and never thought it was glamours
We have a laundry room. And it still doesn't seem like enough space. Love what you've done! 💜
You could put a command hook on the side of your washing machine and hang the clothes pegs off that. It would be out of the way and
less likely to get knocked off when taking stuff of shelf. Love your videos
Yes deffo some stripy fabric in front of the washing machine would look so pretty!xx ❤️
I'm sorry to hear about your pink refrigerator. My 4 yr old granddaughter and I watched with joy as you painted it pink (her favorite color). She couldn't believe she might be able to grow up one day and have a pink one just like yours. 🤗
Even doing a tiny laundry room is fun when it’s with you, Catherine!💕 Well done, as always! Love that shelf over washer.
You always bring me a smile to my face ..Thank you have a beautiful blessing weekend..🙏🙏🙏🙋🏻♀️🌻
I love utility rooms too. My sister just bought a new build house and I'm obsessed with the utility room. It's massive and even has a window, in an Irish house!
Oh my gosh that sounds just beaut!
I'm very sorry about Pepsi :(
Oh wow, happy to hear that ❤️❤️❤️
I would love a utility room ........
Aw thank youu that means so much to me! 🥰
@@DaintyDiaries you are so welcome. 😘
Aw your laundry space sounds so cute! Welldone you ❤️
To close it off you could have a foldable door that will fold back to the wall and look neat! Just an idea!!!
That green dress is gorgeous on you! Always love your creative solutions for making spaces cozy and functional, as well as pretty. :-)
I love the fact the box you have is a Guinness! I love it!!!
we had a utility room 11 years ago and it was always a mess.
Doh, very bad sentences
I’m going to cleanup my laundry room right now!
Best of luck Betty ❤️❤️❤️
HI-larious!
🤣❤️🤣🤣 I love it Johanna
Great use of space! It’s so cool that you can look at the space and say I can make this better and more functional. And then you do it!
Well done!!! 🏡 Had a good chuckle about the panic room!!! Happy Thursday!!!❤️🇨🇦
What a great job! I love how you thought to make a huge shelf; I had no idea what you were going to do to fix it. Brilliant!
Great job!! I have a utility room and guess what? Filled with “crap”! You are to cute! Have a wonderful day and thank you for filling my day with smiles!
It just builds up too easily lol aw thank you so much Cindy 🥰🥰 thanks for watching xx
Very inspired! Thank you!
P.S. You’ve also inspired me to do other things such as sew my own dress, do up a doll house, and loads more. Thanks Catherine.😊
This was a very satisfying video. Great shot of Blondie in your garden. I wish you much love and light!
You've inspired me to have a go at my laundry nook cupboard. It's got a tumble dryer, the boiler and a lot of 'stuff' including Europe's largest collection of plastic bags 🤪
Nice job, organizing feels so good. Give kitty an extra hug from her Utube family. Take care.🤗💐
What a difference you made to the laundry space and looks great.
Glad to see you a little bit back to yourself after Pepsi, BEAUTIFUL little corner set up. Besitos from Spain 🌷🌷
Helpful hint...washing machine doors can be hung to open either way.
That’s a great tip ❤️
Yes! That was my first thought when I saw the washing machine. Fabulous job with the shelf though. Absolutely love watching your videos. So inspiring! 🥰
It’s adorable! Every tiny space can be beautiful 🌸
I think the size of your washing machine and your refrigerator are perfect. I was investigating a ventless clothes dryer a few months back, I never did purchase it.
If you have a Range they have good Kilner style jars you could put your laundry pods in them
You are always a joy!! So talented and so funny!! You make Thursday the best day now!
Greta idea for an offcut 👏🏻👍🏼
Exactly my thought.
Great set up Catherine!
Gotta make do with the space you have! Thanks so much xx 🥰
Cute little nook for the washer n fridge...love it!! 💙💙💙
It is miles better! Hope you have a lovely weekend x
"we need to go out and get 10 more cats is what we need" 😂🤣😂 yes, absolutely!
🤣🤣🤣
You would never know thats there, really good use of space! Your hair looks gorgeous! You are so creative! Can't wait till the next one! Be Safe girl!🍾
Hi mila Catherine.😇🐈🐈 What to add ?! Thank you, you are great🤗. With love Maťa from Slovakia🍀🐞👋😊
Thank you! 😃 so kind x
