Experimental Fuzz/Gate
Reminisce about the time you got your shoulder caught in the reciprocating saw while this unit destroys your slick jazz lines. Видеоклипы
No pentatonic scales. Love it.
Give a Thumbs Up for NO BLUES WANKERY.
MarsHottentot lol why do you guys hate blues so much
@@stuffandjunkanduhh5049 So do I but when I'm watching a demo for some extremely out there pedal or guitar synth, blues wankery just doesn't do them justice. You'd think these tools would fire up their imagination but, most of the time it's Stevie Ray Vaughn Burgers.
"Sounds like an orchestra on fire, guess I throw the 'Caught in a Cross-fire' riff in there!"
@@MarsHottentot Stevie Ray Vaughn Burgers hahaha
@@haloskater24 I love the blues - I just think a lot of YT pedal demo channels don't really think about the potential of the pedal they're reviewing and just blues wank their way through it. Like... SRV licks are not going to showcase the advantages of a sequenced pitch delay, octave ring mod or a synth pedal. The problem is, that's most pedal demo channels
@@MarsHottentot you’re right.
Now this is a fuzz that sounds like it hates everything. I think it hates the fact that it exists and has suicidal tendencies.
good descriptor
My kind of self-conscious guy. So what are you?
8 years later and this still sounds sick. I never bought one, but it definitely lends itself well to those unconventional and avant-garde sounds.
@@underground_man comments like this are one of the best parts of RUclips.
Hey, you, whoever you are playing the guitar for these Fairfield demos - you have a really good feel for these gadgets and present them brilliantly. It doesn't hurt that they sound so bloody good but you play the hell out of them. Great to hear - really love these demos!
I was literally thinking exactly this
That little demon has been my main fuzz for two years now and use it in every gig. It's really a crowd splitter. Either hate it and curse the guitarist while holding your bleeding ears, or praise said guitarist for the tasteful display of chaos. While holding your bleeding ears. I love every bit of sound coming from it.
Thanks! Exactly the uncompromising effect we looked for.
I only discovered this recently and bought one. It is now the only fuzz/distortion pedal on my board. I am so in love with this thing.
This is one of the best pedal demos ever.
1:46...good god, thats horrifying, i love it
Thanks! We always appreciate feedback . . .
Obviously :D
I love this FUZZ
Nice playing in this vid, the guitar player is awesome.
What a pleasant surprise is this pedal !
The serial number is priceless.
Congratulations on successfully capturing NIN and putting it into a nano pedal.
siriusisastar yeah the quake pedal
oh my god, i fucking luv you for creating that
Cannot wait to get this. Hopefully on Monday for me.
i like that little gizmotron. pretty snazzy.🤩 i bet it would be slicker than snot on a doorknob with a flanged synthpad run thru it, and then, it, thru an echo.
Quite weirdly, I love it.
Stockhausen has one on his 'board
Just recorded some new songs and used The Unpleasant Surprise on the guitar AND bass. Sounded awesome! Thanks guys for a wild wild fuzz. Can post a link when the tracks are done if you like. Ooooh yeah. xxx
ya boy
post it up when you have the link, would love to hear
1:53 made me laugh so hard.
A blend knob on both the unpleasant surprise and Randy's revenge would make me buy them.
Randy's Revenge has a blend, called mix. The Unpleasant Surprise indeed does not ;)
@@FairfieldCircuitry thank you.
This is what hell sounds like!
wow. must have this immediately
Every Sonic Youth album in one stomp-box!
me likey. love farfield c. stuff.
This thing is so fucking great. Buying the Barber Shop and Randy's Revenge soon. Then comes the rest of FC's pedals. Love the sound and look.
You could probably install a stomp switch in place of one of the toggle switches. Doesn't look like there's room for all 3 though. There's all kinds of mods you can do where switches and pots are concerned. You could fairly easily wire the "Onset" to be controlled by a wah too.
“WHY DID THEY DESIGN ME TO FEEL PAIN”
I accidentally got the sound from 2:15 in one of my first DIY pedals. It disappeared once I put it in its enclosure - was probably some radio interference. I've been chasing that tone ever since.
Holy shit this thing is alive...
This video fixes my brain
gotta grab one
LMAO @1:52 That was deadly funny. also, my 4 Eyes Fuzz rules. Thanks!!
This is awesome! What's happening around 2:08? Some kind of sustain effect with the note attack chopped? (read gain inversely equivalent to signal amplitude)
I got one and I love it... but it has some quirks when there are other pedals in the chain... any tips you could give about placement? Would you recommend a buffer or anything...?
Holy shit. Future fuzz.
I want this pedal!
Only the fuzz
That thing is SICK!
The pedal you must have in your fuzz collection.
Great Russian Test Department style design....the kind of effects Throbbing Gristle might have designed if they(d gone into the business
I heard Merzbow has 50 of these on backorder.
GOD I WANT THIS SO BADLY! Got a lovely Thorpy Fuzz but, it's really polite. This is... well... just plain nasty!
This thing can be a light overdrive, too, if treated right.
this I didn't expect
@@FairfieldCircuitry put vol at max and the onset at min, bring up the onset just a tad and a faint signal starts to come through. I boost that signal afterwards and it sounds just like an overdrive. The more onset you add the more distorted it sounds. Crush switch also helps, just gotta be careful with dynamics, because once your signal gets through the gate, it will rip your ears off for sure. Now I wanna try it with modele b, just need to get my hands on one of these bad boys.
Is that button called Fucco ?
yes yes yes! fuck yes!
very fucking cool!
Hilarious
itd be sweet if u could control the switchs with a wah
I hear queens of the Stone Age
how are you getting that awesome underlying tone in the first place?
you mean the clean tone?
@@FairfieldCircuitry haha yes
@@danimarief it's been a while.. i think the guitar is a musicmaster into a blues jr amp. the tuning sounds like a weird one. low strings downtuned and some high strings tuned to the same note.
@@FairfieldCircuitry awesome, thank you for this
Karlheinz?
Indeed
Refractory toothache
LOL me too!
Hi, what kind of amp and guitar?
I believe we used two guitars, a Godin SDxt and a fender musicmaster. Amp was a Fender Blues Jr.
FairfieldCircuitry thanks!
buy this for your nephew if you hate your sister
Which pedal do you guys think is better this here or the Baby Box noise generator? Help! I can't make a decision and they are both supremely awesome... :-/
Yikes, this pedal is no joke. Additional points for a pedal demo that doesn't reference Klon or any guitarists born before WWII.
wonderful farts
WTF was that!!? sounded like a really bad phone connection.
got it!
No thanks . . .
Good for one song and move on. Yawn......
Just recorded some new songs and used The Unpleasant Surprise on the guitar AND bass. Sounded awesome! Thanks guys for a wild wild fuzz. Can post a link when the tracks are done if you like. Ooooh yeah. xxx
