On the biggest stage Kobe shot 36% in the 2000 finals, 41% in the 2001 finals, 2004 finals 38%, 2008 finals 40%, 2009 finals 43% and 2010 finals 40%. The best finals he shot in was 2002 and Shaq avg 36-12-4-3 winning FMVP. MJ gets criticized for shooting 41% in the 1996 finals well that’s the % Kobe shot in all his finals combined.
Go look at Kobe first 8 years with Shaq. He’d shoot 47% in the regular season and once the playoffs came around 43 to 42%. No matter how hard Kobe worked efficiency was something he struggled with!! Kobe starting record without Shaq from 1999-2004 was 23-26 they were below avg. Shaq record without Kobe in that same time frame was 31-10. In 2003 when Kobe was putting up all those 40 points games without Shaq that that season Kobe lakers went 5-10 and Kobe +\- was -40 combined.
After Shaq left we saw prime Kobe lakers struggle to be a .500 team for years missing the playoffs and getting boot first round. Shaq was the big dog on that team!! Kobe is still great top 10 to 15 all time but people have elevated him into discussions he doesn’t belong.

Kobe learned that from MJ. Kobe took his workouts to another level tho. He pushed too hard, you have to allow your body time to recover, or you go backward, and he paid for it later in his career. Also played through injuries, some injuries you don't play through. I don’t know much about basketball but I keep hearing really great things about Kobe lately.
I do know about football and grew up watching the great Walter Payton in his prime and he was such a beast!
Although he was a great athlete he definitely wasn’t the biggest or fastest or strongest ( although lb for lb he was amazingly strong) but he would train until he puked and was so tough and had the biggest heart.
He was like 205 but he ran like he was 245 breaking tackles and running over people but with great agility and balance.
Most people who don’t really know assume he was just a pretty back but he was an animal.
Once he was running down the sidelines and a defensive back had him where all he needed to do was step out of bounds…but not sweetness!
He lowered his head and shoulder and put a punishing hit on that db making him earn getting him out of bounds.
Earl Campbell and Walter Payton were the two most exciting hard running backs to watch and we had them both in their prime in the 80s.

To be fair it was but he was like 20 season in or something? Never had a big injury? I agree he overworked but that injury was just old age. Lebron is just different, Kareem is also different.

Btw I ain a emotional Kobe fan but Buddy u can do the same with most all time great players (Lebron shaq etc) I can easily nitpick just as many “under preforming” series for those two guys who are also top 5 or 10 caliber players. And if you actually watched the games you would know that Kobe was supposed to be inefficient with the way Phil used Kobe. Not only that, Kobe played for 20 seasons and can you name me another good perimeter shot creator he played with?i know I can’t lol. Also has a lot to do with the era he played in, the league removed hand checking in 04 I believe, and now the league is filled with non shooters, and defensive players. So now defensives can collapse on the passing lanes and driving lanes and lay off the perimeter with little to no consequences these are not excuses this is factual information go look at all the elite scoring guards like iverson melo all them dudes they are also inefficient to todays standards because todays game is SOFT.And did you just bring up the 3 years after Shaq? I like Kobe but I will bash him for that first season when he didn’t make the playoffs , but you have to look at the lakers roster and look at the other rosters in the west and be honest with your self. It was Kobe Lamar Odom and Smush Parker vs The BEST conference in nba history and u shaming him for losing with those cats? lol have a good day bro
