Great results from knowledge applied to cattle. This is the magic needed to be done in developing countries. a perfect example of how tech and knowledge from developed countries can be incorporated into the development of developing countries. Thank you, guys!!!
So bloody awesome. Helping these folk without handouts or dependency- they keep their dignity and get the chance to fund education for next generation.
It is heart warming to see that Falangs are doing something right for Lao people. I have high hope that this program should work and work very well, and that someday people will find out that dairy cows will produce more milk. BRAVO.
In India, we heavily rely on buffalo milk after cow milk. Even in Northern states, we have more buffalos than cows. We use buffalos for diary over hundreds of years.
@@Iskatel.PriklyucheniyBulls are mostly used for breeding, some farmers use bulls for farm work , they used to make cold pressed oils from coconut, peanuts , sesame in traditional methods also used for meat as wells in some places people eat bull meat

Good video. Issues that should be monitored; Parasite resistance to chemical wormers. Over time, genetic resistance can be lost. Excessive buffalo population can lead to deforestation as feed requirements increase.
It is possible that these people have been living with the land and relying to agriculture for so many decades, but yet doesn't know how they can profit from their animals. Suddenly, an outsider needs to come to rescue them.. How nifty 😒
Great insights! Imagine how much more efficient buffalo farming could be with a dedicated processing plant-transforming local agriculture in Laos! What do you think the impact would be?
Making the manure toxic for worms can be a problem - earthworms are also killed by most chemical wormers. They need to be aware of more natural wormers that are not toxic to earthworms.
Does the constant use of anti-worming agents in the lick blocks not increase parasitic worm affect in the long-run from resistance? (Spoiler alert: it does)
I immediately think about mazalela cheese and buffalo 🦬 burgers. At Catalina island, they have bison 🦬 burger. But i think Lao are not big meat eater, so maybe just for the milk and cheese 🍕
Buffalo in laos are not dairy breed they produce very little milk that can only sustain their calves and these Buffalo's are not much tamed so that they can be milked easily
The lick blocks, the color and flavour is coming from molasses. Sea weed, salt and other trace mineral can be added. Great for animals where their diet might be lacking in something.
Very impressive. Concentrated farming shall increase the yield of buffaloes in the long run. However you may take lessons from Indian Dairy Farmers as there are numerous breeds, farming patters, breeding methods adopted in India. Cheers!
High percentage of SEAns are milk intolerant. Its not a matter of ignorance why milk is not popular source of protein. We get ours from tofu and meat. But go ahead, have milk for falangs. Your tourists will help the Lao economy.
lol, they don't know what they're doing. Import cattle from India or Pakistan. In south India, we have the same looking buffalo. Import seman or embryo Buffalo here gives 25+litres milk
about the introductory emotional comments ... one key item is missing : in 1960 Laos had 2 million people, now they are more than 7 millions. Why don't they implement strict birth limitation as China did ?
That would be a BIG mistake. You're talking about 63yrs span, from 1960- 2023. Look at China one child policy. Their population is shrinking big time, The Chinese govt has been begging the people to have more kids in the last 4yrs. That needle hasn't moved.
It really worked for China didn't it. In 1960 Thailand had a population of 26M and now have 71M.. Vietnam had 32M now 97M. The whole worlds population has significantly increased, why are you singling out Laos?
@@NowinLao because the movie and the " emotional intoduction " are about Lao, are not they ? ... but you are correct, Thailand is as mas as Lao ... only the western world and China are doing the right thing about demography
This is such a wonderful story. So cool to hear. Susie is a poineer woman with a heart of gold! I am a Laotian from Wisconsin USA (the Diary capitol). Although, If they really want milk and cheese, they should get some diary cows to breed.
Google it. Laos birth rate is just above replacement (2.50). So it's not a big deal. Just need the people to get richer, but the government is corrupt.
I am going to get downvoted by some well-intentioned do-gooders, but really, we should all be highly suspicious of any effort to move a population to a "more western diet." All the fat people in the world are westerners or people who've been introduced to a western diet (see the middle class Chinese). In America in particular, people have terribly cramped mouths and impacted wisdom teeth from years of eating soft baby foods, eventually forcing them to have their wisdom teeth surgically removed. Go and walk around Vientiane and see how many people are overweight -- there are virtually none and even less so in the countryside. Then go and ask those same people how many of them have their wisdom teeth removed, also none. To say nothing of hypertension and cholesterol and other diet related problems.
The intention here is to provide protein to the children of Laos , especially in the rural areas where malnutrition is rampant. No one is trying to westernize their diet. People in the Indian subcontinent also consume milk , does that categorize them as having a western diet ? Please do not bring up these conspiracy theories into such issues. If anything the efforts of these Australians should be commended and appreciated.
Are Laotians even capable of digesting milk? If they've never drank it, their digestive systems might not be capable of processing it, they might be lactose intolerant
besides the point, can still sell in the export dairy market. Also, yes south east asians are adopting dairy product well these days. it's very popular.
Aussies are doing a great thing. This should improve the lives of villagers for sure. However, there isn't much hope for the country of Laos as it is already fully ensnared, and debt trapped by China.
@lachlanoma8236 they sell the so-called carbon credits to counties like China so they can offset their carbon footprint. It's a scam.. just upset I didn't come up with the idea 1st. Clowns like Al Gore are lining their pockets while flying on private jets to Davos.. Hahaha!

The Anglophone after killing millions of Laotians still go there despite Laotians are Anglo-phobic and never forget their enemies.

So who is paying for the cost of those blocks that doesn't have any idea what is going on?
It's free for the farmer. It creates a carbon offset. The offset is purchased by western companies wanted to reduce their emitions footprint.
