i was having a very hard time with removing the nut (very rusted in my case) that retains the impeller and i was honestly worried about breaking the vacuum/my tools/myself... finding your video made me so happy because at least i could learn which direction to actually spin it loose! i watched until 5:03 and immediately paused the video and went to try the same motion on mine, and i now have a sheered-off impact driver bit stuck deep inside the hex socket only now i'm realizing that you were spinning in the wrong direction at first 😂 (i really enjoyed your video!)
@bengrant750 Oh, wow, sorry to hear about that dude. But thank you for watching my video I appreciate it. And glad you got some educational info off of it. Yeah, I probably would have used some. If you had the rusty bolt, I don't know if you used some kind of penetrating loop that probably would help me be sprayed and let us sit on there for a couple of hours or a day and then try that you might have gotten it lucky you got it off but. But I wouldn't have used an impact cause that definitely would have caused more worse than everything. But good try though.
Thank You for the Video. My vac was "Rode hard and Put away wet" as the cowboys used to say. I spent way to much time trying to figure out how to disassemble it to replace my brushes. That Nut was rusted and the hole for the Allen wrench was completely useless. After too long I finally got it but still cannot get the "Spacer" off. When I saw you just lift it off I was shocked. I guess I need a lot more PB spray
I found it on eBay here's the link. www.ebay.com/itm/224893643322?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=1OF02YvTQAW&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=0lJYiIDlQkK&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=MORE
Damn i wonder if that's what happened to my vacuum. I was using it and it started to sound a little weird and smelling like something was burning and then it just shut off. It was my dads so it's a older model but it worked fine. Should I try to fix or just buy a new one?
The funny thing is, it's listed for different prices online here where I'm at in NJ. Then the motor is listed as $76. But a new one here, same model is $99. Then there's other sites that list it at more. That's because Ridgid, like most other companies, makes cheaper versions of the same tool.
Get one from Home Depot and return the broken one. I believe it’s a house brands so they honor their lifetime warranty for all of ridgid even if it’s from Amazon it’s Home Depot’s
Ebay's good wherever they have them or use just going google and just type in or say you know , ridge vacuum cleaner motors and a chicken won't pop it up , and then you can go from there to pick on which one got the best price

You sure about that cause my type of shop vac cost 208.00 dollars and the motor to replace it was way less than that. In fact it was under 100.00 dollars.

When I started looking at prices for replacement motors they cost just as much as a whole new vac so why bother
You sure my vac valve was $200 new were a new motor cost a third of that price.
