  • In the first video of two on the new UniFi Cloud Key Gen 2 Plus we'll look at the hardware and upgrade it. Rocking 3GB of RAM and a 1TB spinning drive this is the best Cloud Key to date! Then we'll find out if it has a battery built into it like the other CK Gen 2. In the next video we'll migrate our site from a Gen 1 key to our Gen 2 key and they take an indepth look at UniFi Protect!

    Again, Willie I’m glad you did this video. I been thinking about getting one since their only a few more dollars than the UniFi Cloud Key Gen 2 for a small home video surveillance network just didn’t know if I was going to like the new Protect software. I also forgot to thank you for a video a little while back when you told everyone that the Unifi G3- Flex ceiling mounts came out I immediately bought 30. After seeing yours and Chris’s (Crosstalk Solutions) videos on Ubiquiti products I’ve completely bought into the ecosystem and have been completely happy ever since. I rarely comment on videos, but I wanted to take the time and thank you.

    I have a client with 9 acres. Multiple generations of UBNT equipment. Point to multipoint transmitter and receivers, G-2 cameras and added in a new mesh pro AC AP. I choose this device because the hard drive failed on the original controller for the cameras. When I plugged in the new GEN 2+ it was constantly pulling the cameras so I was not able to login to the static IP‘s of the cameras (mismatched credentials). Due to the constant attempts to login to the cameras from Prptect, the cameras replied that I had to wait five minutes to try again because of too many failed attempts to log in. Trick: I shut down to protect function and was able to get to the APs of the cameras, reset them to factory default, then turn on protect again. Protect found all 10 cameras on the site and adopted them. Meanwhile, unify SDN adopted the AP AC mesh pro and all devices showed appeared in the UI; my point to point transmitter, all my receivers, all my camera Mac addresses, and all of the ethernet connected devices on the network. This device is a jewel!
    Both the unify Protech in the unify SDN apps work wonderfully. The area that needs a little improvement is allowing anyone other than the super administrator to be able to view the live feed from the cameras. There is a process, however, it’s not totally straightforward and hopefully will be fixed in the next update .
    The super admin has to invite others to be able to view the cameras and have them show up in the unify protect app. However, as of this writing only admin rights are assigned. Unify needs to be able to add view only writes so that folks can view without being able to change any settings.
    Overall, this devise exceeded my expectations! Especially, putting in a 5 TB hard drive was a simple as opening up the case taking out the old drive putting in the new 5 TB drive and it automatically format it and set it up to start recording; just fantastic.

    I hope you or someone could assist. I am currently setup with a USG Pro 4, 24 port POE+ Switch, and 2 AP’s. I am currently on internal network 192.168.55.x, and would like to confidently and safely move everything including servers. My issue is statically set IPs on AP’s and HPE servers and such which can change to DHCP except for the Cloud Key.....

    • @axelrod21
      @axelrod21 5 лет назад +1

      I would plug the main device in that has your active DHCP and DNS I am assuming its the USG Pro then configure the static IP's outside the pool range. Once everthing looks good and you double checked the settings. Go ahead and bring the other devices online and if all goes well then the devices and clients will pull from DHCP that are set too. You will need to update the servers with the new info and use the new cloud key to configure the AP's. Hope this helps. :)

    meanwhile, i am still here waiting for the "UniFi Small Business Setup Part 2" video :(
    i have a question for anyone who might wanna share some advice.
    i have two buildings which i want to connect using nanobeams 5AC gen2
    i want to have one controller, two USG (one in each building because each building has it's own internet connection) and two unifi switches.
    i want each usg to act as a dhcp for the building it is in and of course i need both buildings to share networks but on different vlans.
    bonus question... is it possible for the two USGs to share their WANs so..... if internet goes down on building ONE, my devices will still be able to access the internet through WAN connection of building TWO as a failover? (through the nanobeams)
    thank you
