I love that you write all of the different availabilities of each trim so I can just watch one video and can compare which one to consider getting instead of having to watch different videos for each trim! Good job!
Love that detail too! I’m getting one this week and I’ve been watching vids- every time a feature is missing/added I panic (i was watching a US vid of an lx and they didn’t have the blind spot monitoring) anyways, thanks for the vid!!
Steve one trend I have noticed with Kia and Hyundi along with a couple other makers is moving the signal lights down to the bumper where the reflectors normally are. To me this is a bad place to locate the signal lights because they are not up at eye level and will get covered with snow or mud easy. Also for people driving higher vehicles like trucks they will not be seen in some situations. Not sure if this one is like this but I did see a clear lens at the bottom which means they likely are. I don't know if you or others have noticed this but your thoughts ?
The signals are close to mid liftgate which isn’t too bad but for cars that have it further down there’s always the possibility of it being covered by snow. I’m going to start adding in a view of the turn signals in future videos
Steve, any chance of a review of the Kia Telluride? That's the Kia model I hear most commonly talked about among friends and family as the highly desired model. I've also heard it's the most difficult to locate on the ground.
You can show off a small digital speed by pressing the pages button and scrolling.. that's covered in this video. But there's no way to get a full screen digital speedo
Any parent reviews? How does a car seat fit in 5’10 wide is 5’8 currently have a juke and the lack of ac and space sucks considering the seltos or rouge 😳
You can access some controls in accessory mode! Without pressing the brake pedal, press the start/stop button twice. If your Seltos has a key, stop one step before turning the engine over
@@CarsWithSteve thanks ill try ,,,,the remote does have a weird key in it ? i did not know that pressing twice will access other things ,,,,,thank you much ,,,,,i was trying to acces the maintenance to see what is what and when ,,,,i was thinking this dont make sense you have to run an motor in idle just to see your maint ? but i have lots to learn yet i can see that ill keep at it ,,,,,,😃
Ah the emergency access key. Some lower trim models still have the traditional key but the ones with push start have the odd emergency key instead ;). Accessory mode is the way to go to see all that info or play the radio without starting the engine
today i tried pushing the start button 2 times no brake pedal , trying see if i can acces the maintenance or what is coming up i only have 600 miles but id like to learn to access this info ? well so far only pressing the start button once or twice does not give me access to maintenance ,,,,,so far ? unless i am not doing this correctly , look like for certain things the car needs to be running i beleive ? 🤔
This particular Seltos must be a Canadian version. I like those projector LED headlamps but here in the US they're only available in the top trim where you must get those bigger wheels with 45 series sidewalls. I prefer the gray finish smaller wheels shown here, with more meat on the tires. I really don't like the yellow looking projector halogen headlamps in all the US trims except for the top, which is too pricey for this econobox.
Yes it is! I usually point out headlamps in the videos but missed it in this one. There are some good aftermarket LED "bulbs" if you want a cleaner look!
Smart Liftgate and Smart Engine Compartment (everything in there is for once - actually accessible, for me at least) and the contiguous cluster multimedia screen is a definite winner. However against this backdrop is an old fashioned manual shifter along with a handbrake that will require adjustments. Hence that still leaves me now tossed up between Seltos and Kona...
Should have mentioned the front door is shorter than the back door. Anyone over 6 feet will probably hit the pillar upon entering the vehicle with a certain regularity, nice of parents with children. Is there anyway to turn off the adaptive cruise and just set it on cruise on the SX, pain in the fanny when someone passes and returns into the lane in front of you. Always breaks because even with the shortest distance chosen it always breaks? Used the lane centering system, the coffee cup with the saying Maybe you should take a break came on as the centering system wobbled between the lines as if they'd disappear if it didn't keep checking on it, can that stupid coffee break be turned off? Haven't found a way to do so yet. Overall I'd give the car maybe a thin 6.5 rating.
Hmm interesting.. never had anyone mention getting into the 2nd row. I'll look at adding that in for future videos! There's unfortunately no way to turn off adaptive cruise. I've found it just helps to be quick on the draw in case you get cut off or people start to merge into the lane you're in. Some versions of the Seltos will let you turn it off but if you have it, you'll be able to find it in the dash cluster screen under User Settings --> Driver Attention Warning
@@CarsWithSteve I'll probably get rid of it within the year, not worth the money and uselessness to me. There are better vehicles out there. This was just a real disappointment.
@@CarsWithSteve Haven't really started looking yet, but Mazda has some vehicles with more power. Not sure how good they are or if that nanny state junk will be able to be turned off totally.
The DTRLs are wild! They look like “Ns?” Not sure why ki would have the letter”N” the new Santa Fe has”H which means Hyundai, but “N” what the hell? Not as crazy as as Tucson’s close encounters DTRLs😅
I've seen Kia cars run past 180k+ miles. Maintain it well and it should last you! You'll probably run into higher maintenance costs after the 150k miles but it shouldn't be too bad
I drove an EX a few days ago. Sharp looking exterior. Test drive = decent power for base engine, ride was comfortable. Interior: I'm only 5"10" and with the driver seat all the way back I felt cramped, smaller then what I expected, lots of cheap plastic in the interior (the back of the front seats is largely a clam shell of hard plastic). Lots of tech and standard goodies on this trim but overall not for me. I've been test driving many different vehicles in this class and most are much better. Sorry KIA.
I currently drive a 2018 VW Tiguan SE 4Motion. Without a doubt the best vehicle I ever owned and that includes a lot of vehicles. I'm 73 years old. I just went out of warranty and I'm shopping to see if it would be worthwhile to purchase for that purpose. Absolutely nothing ever wrong with the Tiguan after 74k miles. I've test driven the VW Taos, Chevy Trailblazer, Mazda CX5 and the Kia Seltos so far. In my opinion among these I would chose the VW Taos with the Mazda CX5 a very close alternative. Just my honest opinion and nothing to do with my current situation.@@CarsWithSteve
My brother has a 2024 Taos and seems to enjoy it, the new Ford Escape could be one to check out as well if that wasn't on your list. I'd be curious to know which way you decide to go!
Hi Steve. That's good to hear. I have talked to other people about the Taos and they like it very much. I still want to check out the new Chevy Trax, Hyundia Tuscon and I will add the Ford Escape to my list. I'll keep you updated on my decision. Thanks and have a good day!@@CarsWithSteve
@CarsWithSteve the High Altitude. The acceleration was fine, as was the interior. But the feel of the steering was way too numb for me. The AWD vehicle I'm replacing has very similar dimensions and a 200hp 2.0 turbo 4, which is why I was interested. Plus it was advertised at $9K under sticker. That was a bit deceptive, though. It required financing through the dealer at 8.5%. That wouldn't have mattered, I would have payed it off in 2 months. But even a year of financing would have negated the price reduction.
@ofcbob6391 The deal at the time required financing with the dealer at 8.5% (with great credit) for 72 months. Despite 3.9% being available from my bank. That's where they would have made it all back.

Excellent review!
Thanks Leonel!
@CarsWithSteve very good explanation about everything from Seltos not boring. Really 👍🏼!
Thank you, Best car infotainment demo ever. Super ❤

Thanks Akash!
Very Detail thanks man
You're welcome!
Nobody does it better than you Steve. You’ve spoiled me 😊
Thanks Yamil 😁
How did Seltos get it's name ?
In Greek Mythology, Hercules had a son & his name was CELTOS.
KIA just changed the "C" to an "S".
Neat little bit of trivia there
Just an FYI; the Bose audio system is available in Canada on the SX Turbo and X-Line trim levels.
Thanks for pointing that out! When the video was shot the Kia Canada website only had the 6 speaker system listed as standard throughout all trims

The Seltos has power adjustable mirrors but not power folding...

Do you know how to change the speed display from number to speedometer(gauge) and vice versa?
You can show off a small digital speed by pressing the pages button and scrolling.. that's covered in this video. But there's no way to get a full screen digital speedo
Why does the second set of lights have a fog (not condensation) inside the light cover? My dealership couldn't answer this question, can you?
Probably just because it's cheaper to do it that way
@@CarsWithSteve that doesn't make sense. There has to be a reason. To dim the glare of oncoming traffic or a defect. I need to know.

I've never tried putting a car seat into the Seltos but based on the interior size it'll fit front or rear facing no problem.
