- Here I go over how to stain wood in three simple steps.
1. Condition your wood - This process will allow your wood to absorb the stain evenly. If this step is skipped the stain to leave spots or look blots.
2. Apply the stain - It's as simple as painting the stain on the wood just as you would if you were painting.
3. Sealing the wood - Once the stain has time to dry you go back over it with sealer to protect the wood.

Thank you so much! I will be using this design on my Ikea table that I've had for almost 5 years. My children have really done a number on it and it could use a new look.
Excellent, simple demonstration of staining wood. Thanks!
I hope it was helpful! Are you working on a project? If so, what are you working on?
Fantastic video! Helped a lot with my IKEA Ivar project
Great video thanks
Nice job
Can this be done inside my house without worrying about fumes? I don’t have a garage and I worry about dust and bugs getting on it outside. Plus it’s like 90 degrees and 85% humidity right now. 😬
Can you use wood stain indoors? #woodworking #diy #homeimprovement
Is it okay to use water-based polyurethane over gel instead of oil-based? I've always been told to use oil-based over oil-based stains and water-based over water-based stains. Have you experienced any issues?
I have not had any issues with this project. I did use a water based poly over the gel based stain.
