on that 35L Nomatic bag, get yourself a small carabiner and clip the two handles together every time before you pick that bag up by the straps, especially if you've got it loaded heavy. I've got a $4,000 busted camera body that this would've saved.

Thanks for the details! I have had the 25L PGYTech bag in my shopping cart for over a year now. I just don't shoot enough anymore to justify the Nomatic bags, but if I ever start back up I may invest in them. I don't fly, but I ended up going with a set of Ridgid rolling tool boxes for my sideline gear and really enjoyed them. The whole kit cost me less than one large Nanuk case and the much larger wheels worked for the stuff you roll over on your way into a stadium. The newer Ridgid has even larger wheels, so I look forward to using that next year.
I wondered what you did for strobe cases. Pelican 1510 cases are good for 4x FJ400 lights with small reflectors attached and batteries off. I store them with padding on the bottom and sides, none on the lid. The lights have the stand attachments up. Then the batteries (4) go into one of the Westcott square zippered cases that came with the light. What's nice about that is battery case slips over the extension handle to wheel it on set (if I'm not using my cart).
I had a gig in Vegas a few weeks ago...Fedex lost one of mine :( $2k worth of equipment is still missing. Sucks. Love my Pelican cases though. Those things are so good.
Depends on travel but if I'm driving my softboxes just stay in their own bags. If I'm flying those might be rental items depending on the job. Mods will got in my stand bag. If I'm being honest I'm trying not to rope the Mods into every video! 🤣
I come from the touring AV world and everything I have goes in pelican cases. This stuff costs too much to not protect. I use the pelican air 1745 for my stands. I use another 1745 for modifiers. I typically drive to all my locations which makes it easier. But when I do fly, it depends on the job for what I bring and what I rent. I do have some cheaper light stands that fit in one of my 1615 cases so sometimes I’ll pack those along with lights in the same case. I have a 1615 that use for some of my lights and a few regular pelican 1560s for my profoto lights. Cases can get heavy fast so I opt to have more lighter weight cases over fewer heavy cases. Padded dividers or even the tekpack dividers are the way to go. Pick n pluck is junk 😂
James, how do you transport your wheeled stand and boom arm? The Tenbo is great for 9’ standard folding stands but too short for a 12’ junior stand (goes down to 53”-58”). Thank you.
Any concerns about all the photography/lighting stickers on the outside of yuour cases? Seems like it would attract attention to the wrong type of people.
As do I, but saw you had them in the Pelicans and wondered how you were getting around that. Its also one reason the baggage people can't take my camera bag and check it because it has all the batteries they wont let me keep in my checked bag. Kind of a small game I had to play with a full flight. They had to move someone else's roller bag to checked. @@QuantzPhoto

What about checking the light kits with the Lithium batteries. Any issues with that?

Fortunately not but that's why I always carry my camera gear with me!
