I have followed every step, change srt to ssa and when I come to assa, the subtitle does not appear there. But the subtitle appears in the subtitle edit window. I have tried many times but still failed. Pls help. Thanks
Asante sana Bwana Mbogua, thank you Mr Mbogua, your numerous videos are awesome. I do some transcriptions for a charity and your videos have been very educative and full of information for me . God bless you.
Thank you for this video! I have a subsequent question. Is it possible to convert the .ass file with the adjusted subtitle position to .stl format without losing any of the formatting (position, color, etc.)?
Thanks a lot, I just needed to change the position of all lines of subs, so: "Select all" - "Alignment" (any subtitles line) - "Top/center" - "Save", and that is it :-)
if you want to move a subtitles in the wave form and all the lines after double click it to highlight it in red then hold ctrl+shift and click on the wave for where you want it to start
Thank you for the informative video. I have an additional question in that regard... Is it possible to just have one or a few lines of subtitles to appear in a different position (let's say the top) while the rest of the subtitles are in the bottom for the rest of the video? Or even at least to include the opaque option for a few lines and have the rest of them appear normal ? I hope you can help with this dilemma if possible.. All the best!
You're welcome. Yes, you can position 1 Subtitle at the top with thr rest at the bottom as well as have some with an Opaque bx and the others normal. Here's how to add bg to some: ruclips.net/video/lg0cV4jH55E/видео.html I hope this helps.
Thank you for the tutorial, is there anyway instead of bumping up and moving around with a mouse can you set it for an exact set position by typing that set position in? Or if anything instead of using the mouse use arrow keys to move the text?
Hi David, great video. Thanks. Subtitle edit only seems to work for Windows, is there a mac app that you'd recommend for converting an srt to a .ass so that I can move the subtitles around the screen? cheers, Simon
@@caroauroradeger Have you changed your subtitle format to ASSA? If you have, then selecting all lines and right-clicking should bring up the ASSA tool > Select Set Position and set the position you want for your subtitles.
Love this video and thanks for sharing. Yes with .assa you can change the subtitle position, but is there a way of knowing with subtitle edit that the new position is subtitle safe?
I could finally fix the problem of Google Drive not allowing .ASS files by changing the format to .STL. This format also offers a way to set subtitles slightly higher than Bottom Center. Now the only problem that I have is that both RUclips and Google Drive forcefully add an annoying and undesired translucid / semi-transparent box around the subtitles after uploading any kind of file (.SRT, .STL, .VTT, etc.) when all I want is my subtitles not to have a box at all. I would like to know how to REMOVE this annoying box or force RUclips/Google Drive not to show it. Thanks!
Hi, even after selecting the assa format the position of my subtitle isnt changing, dont know whats going wrong, if you can suggest me anything it would be helpful
Effectively, I can confirm that the ASSA Tools menu only appears on v3.6.2 or higher versions. That's the reason why you and me didn't have the ASSA Tools menu.
@DavidMbugua Hi David, I need to have the single line sub shifted upwards to have it aligned with the first line of a double line sub to avoid the single line sub jumping up and down every time it is separated by a double line sub, as illustrated below: double lvl 1 double lvl 1 double lvl 2 single lvl 2 double lvl 2 single lvl 2 ... Such constant jumps are very upsetting and tiring. I solved the problem by adding an empty line and spaces to a single line sub but this is time and effort consuming and I actually hate it. Is there a way to automate the process (e.g. like changing font color of all subs) or at least insert a new line character + spaces by a a quick shortcut? Or any other way? Maybe SE allows for creation of custom shortcuts but I haven't found such option. (And it should). So far I haven't found any elegant solution so Id' appreciate if you could look into that. Otherwise I'll have to write a separate script that would do the job😓 I am using SE 3.6.10 and I have to stick to the .srt format. Anyways, thanks a lot for your very useful SE tutorials 👍
Hi, the problem that I have is that Google Drive doesn't support the .ASS file. Dang. All the other formats (.SRT, .VTT, .STL) are supported but the only format that allows me to Set Position manually is not supported by the g'damned Google Drive. I blame RUclips and Google Drive for not setting the subtitles in the correct position by default like any other offline video player.
Hi Maria, I've just released a tutorial that will solve all your problems. It's on How to Make Closed Captions for RUclips that Support Positioning, Colors, Backgrounds, etc Link: ruclips.net/video/-Srb_y2IBJE/видео.html I have the Google Drive version as well but I'll release it tomorrow but the process is the same.
