Interesting choice of content, especially given the recent science outlining RED-S and disordered eating in endurance sport. Understandably, GTN creates content regarding all things triathlon. However, I question if directly asking professional triathletes “how much do you weigh” is the an appropriate choice of content. I wanted to watch this episode before commenting, and I know for myself I had to mentally prepare myself to be unaffected by what I heard and saw. As a whole, I can definitely see the attempt by certain pros to not disclose their specific weight, but rather the discrepancy between off-season and racing season. However, numbers are still numbers, and comparison can be the thief of passion, purpose, and performance. For individuals not battling RED-S or disordered eating, this video may be harmless. However, I can definitely see how for individuals who have/are or are sensitive to such behaviours, this may be extremely triggering. Athletes, especially type-A or highly competitive individuals looking to gain an edge, may view this topic and the numerical information regarding weight and body composition (albeit unintentionally) as push towards dangerous eating habits. GTN can be a great resource with great content. However, as GTN increases its presence in the endurance community, I believe that the ramifications of the very content it creates must be more sensitively considered.
Weght is a big part of endurance sports, thats just how it is. If stuff like that triggers you, dont watch. Can`t shut down the world becase some have issues. They skould get help in coping. Just stopping that kind of content is the opposite of helping those. It`s a disservice.
@@Eldreherre You're right, the world doesn't stop. Everyone is entitled to create content they feel is relevant or interesting. Most definitely I could have chosen to not watch this upload, and/or not commented. However, I believe that would also be doing a disservice to individuals/athletes who may be sensitive to, or currently are, engaging in RED-S/disordered eating behaviours. You're right, weight is a component of endurance sports, which may explain in part why RED-S/disordering eating behaviours within endurance sport is so pervasive! The literature would suggest that many high-achieving individuals put too great an emphasis on weight and not enough on fuelling and proper nutrition, which ultimately stifles performance and degrades health. Many elite level athletes have access to systems and resources which can help guide them away from such behaviours. Conversely, many high achieving age group athletes may not be aware of how detrimental these behaviours can be to performance, both within and beyond athletics. Furthermore, the resources so readily available to elite level athletes and top performing athletes are not so readily available to the majority of athletes, many of whom may watch this video. An individual may view this video and compare their numbers to the professional athletes, and attempt to achieve those same numerical standards without considering the multi-factorial equation that leads to optimizing performance. Such an equation is extremely unique to every athlete/individual. Coming back to the question of "what's my point", I was simply commenting to open up a discussion about weight and beyond numbers, and perhaps shed light on a topic that is also important to consider when discussing weight/comparing athletes' weight within the context of endurance sport/athletics.

i clicked on this very interesting looking video because i am a female athlete (runner) and i was curious what other women athletes weigh,,,through the whole viedeo all the men say their actual weight...but NONE of the women do....they only say for off season i weigh ten or five pounds more or less...don't understand? but here i will say i am 5"9 weigh 130 pounds....
How do people get 7-8-9 hours of sleep? If you train in the morning and push out an evening session and have a full time job ? Like 4-5-6 seems for like a more realistic number for me 😅🙈
is weight a secret for those women? something bad they can't tell otherwise we're all gonna die? i'm a female runner, i'm 43 kilos when in good shape, 47 off season (but i'm a 5'2'' shortie) and btw weight really means nothing compared to fat/muscle ratio and it's quite normal for a woman to weight less off season since fat weights less than muscle. i've seen people my height and size weight 10 kilos more than me and we looked exactly the same, could have exchanged pants.
I think women are just subject to a lot more judgement about actual numbers. Too much, too little, saying the number, not saying the number. Someone's gonna find fault regardless, so I can see why they would be inclined to be more guarded with that information.
Well i'm 178 cm and 74kg and since i am doing more sport (2 years) i have gained 3 kilos, but i stay on average the same weight i don't know how these pro athletes manage to drop too many kilos
If you worry about your weight you are doing something wrong...weight is simple...its all about input and output....and a balanced diet of course....you lose the fat around your organs...you run into trouble.Think the weight thing is more of a thing for the women...I have seen top women athletes who became just toooo skinny...and then...next moment...they are gone !!!
To an extent though, as an endurance athlete, lugging around extra kg's just decreases performance. The trick is finding the optimum weight where you are strong with the least amount of fat that you can get away with. This will be higher than your minimum weight, because muscle.
for example iron man, all these occasions cost money nothing for free...you pay money and what do you get instead? satisfaction? what else? i downloaded ironman application and it costs 1080 dollars annually. damn... but i really would like to try this sport..
Notice none of the women actually stated their true weight. They gave ranges for fluctuation but steered clear of what they did weigh. Sad really. As it is clear, they become underweight regardless if intentional or not.
I think the concern should be whether the discussion informs people rather than if it upsets them. Fear of "upsetting" often stifles conversation and leaves room for poor decision making.
weight for 150cm or 220cm? weight of water, fat, muscle, bones, with clothes and shoes or bare naked? before breakfast or after dinner? how do people get satisfaction when they hear 73kg? 🤔

is weight a secret for those women? something bad they can't tell otherwise we're all gonna die? i'm a female runner, i'm 43 kilos when in good shape, 47 off season (but i'm a 5'2'' shortie) and btw weight really means nothing compared to fat/muscle ratio and it's quite normal for a woman to weight less off season since fat weights less than muscle. i've seen people my height and size weight 10 kilos more than me and we looked exactly the same, could have exchanged pants.
A pound is a pound, regardless if items muscle or fat. It’s just that the composition is different.
I think women are just subject to a lot more judgement about actual numbers. Too much, too little, saying the number, not saying the number. Someone's gonna find fault regardless, so I can see why they would be inclined to be more guarded with that information.
Must sleep more
3:16 i'm sure her name is Lucy Charles-Barclay ;)
But what height are they all? This is pointless.
They are all somewhere around 19-21 bmi
It’s more about their difference
The answer is: Under the average weight for their height.
But that weight is nearly all muscle so that's irrelevant
Thank god for Lucy
Talking about crazy weight fluctuations... @Heather wow...
Lightweight baby
Heather is looking super lean. Is she training for something?
Probably for a triathlon 🤓
She doesn't do those.
You mean Sarah Connor?
Err, yes she does.
She raced Kona.
Well i'm 178 cm and 74kg and since i am doing more sport (2 years) i have gained 3 kilos, but i stay on average the same weight i don't know how these pro athletes manage to drop too many kilos
I'd be lucky to get that much sleep in one go.
3:15 hot stuff
I need to lose some timber :'(
I fluctuate between 75kg and 82kg🤣
What happened with Emma‘s audio?
Picking up from both mics at the same time.
What is this magnetic field therapy of which he speaks?
Should have asked body fat percentage.
Notice none of the women actually stated their true weight. They gave ranges for fluctuation but steered clear of what they did weigh. Sad really. As it is clear, they become underweight regardless if intentional or not.
Sad indeed, right up there with dodging the age question! What year is this??
It was done last October.
I'm about like Tim Don - 82kg :D
Hope this doesn't upset anyone suffering with food issues/eating disorders
hope it does
wth should it
i did
I think the concern should be whether the discussion informs people rather than if it upsets them.
Who cares how much they weigh, we know they're not as heavy pro wrestlers, hey I have a novelty idea have a special Ironman race, consisting of powerlifters bodybuilders pro wrestlers and football players have them do the full course and see how many finished and what times,by the way let's throw some MMA fighters in the race too !!!👍💪😀👀
My son just told me Hulk Hogan would be the winner of that Ironman, but he didn't tell the time Hogan crossed the finish line, -- could hear it now Hey Brother these pythons helped me win this!!!👍💪😀
lucy is fuckin ripped
i dont think they are 81-82 they look lean...i am 98 but i am triple than thier size haha.... why i am here? cause i want to change my lifestyle
Weight? Was this video about weight or sleep? They all talked about sleeping, who cares. There is a saying here in Italy.Who sleeps does not catch fish.
Sleep more! 10-12 will super human ya!! Can’t over sleep... look at animals. No wasted time, rest or active!
My weight seems to be really off, I weigh the same as the pros but doesn’t looked like lean as these pro triathletes.😑😑
Tianz DC If you are smaller than them or not swimming out 10-20 hours a week plus some gym work that would explain it
WTF sure you are not as lean as they cause you have way more body fat and less muscle than these freaks🤦♂️
Only the men actually mentioned their weight,
So they have "Labor camps" weight.
😁🤲
Its rediculous woman dont reveal their weight what is their ideal weight? That they wouldnt be ashamed to mention
please be in real units
How much do pro triathletes weigh?.............................. (only a few men answer) 80% don't tell..
I lost 90 lbs when I started taking care of myself. I think that's like 500 in kilos.
90 lbs is 40 kilograms
Half ten so 5? Dumb phrase.
i weigh 50 kilos for 170cm lol
Alexis RZ I weigh 53kg at the same height.
73 kilo at 169 and feel like a twig... how do you lads do it ?
BK CheZ I dunno. Im just 17 years old and I do a bit running and cycling. Im not skinny at all, have some muscles, but the body fat percentage is probably quite low.
@@crisi01 I'm 20 and have low body fat, still small.. think Zac efron build, just with bigger legs :)
What you do for intervals on running ?
BK CheZ At the moment no intervals. I just do some long runs (for me long), 3 to 4 in a week, 3km to 8km.
But Zac Efron has a very muscular body. If you are like him with bigger legs, your weight is actually normal. :)
WTF IS A KILO?
1000 gram
1000 gramo
The proper weight metric
100 dekagrams
kilo is obviously superior - Kilojoule, Kilowatts, Kilogram. its x, times 1000. an whats a pound? 453,592 grams...
The guys should tell us their testosterone levels, because some sound like little girls.
