    What a fantastic day one! Sorry to hear about what happened to your kayak, that could have certainly been worse! I believe that things always happen for a reason, they might not make sense at the time but usually in retrospect we can see. Awww, what a difficult time you have had! Loved your day 1 video and after hearing what happened to your rig, it was quite an accomplishment that you caught so many after going through that ordeal to just salvage a rig to put on the water. Hope you can get some sleep and regroup in only 5 days…you have resilience and that, they say that is the most determinant factor of success. We are all out here pulling for you; thank you for sharing and being real. Hugs Sister!

To reinforce your approach to life: 1) You are healthy and alive. 2) You are following your dream and doing very well. 3) your fans think the world of you. 4) You are teaching many young people to dream big and work to achieve their dreams. 5) God has a plan for you. 6) G loves you. Everything else is an inconvenience to be dealt with and eventually forgotten. Enjoy your blessings. Stay safe, God Bless! By the way it is also normal to feel down once in a while. Traveling required me to slow down and get my ducks in order. When I first started I'd wind up in town, have a room reserved and not have any idea where it was reserved. All I had to do what have all the information mapped out ahead of time an not hop on a flight before I know where I'm going. Seemed simple enough but... Yep fisihing in a tournament, you should take the time to know where and when. Simple really. We all learn this the hardway...

      @academicmailbox7798 Год назад

      I thought video was over after 'day one'. I just watched the 'day two' part. Gramp's is one hundred percent right. If you're 'fishing was off' then you really would have problems (and it does happen to the best of them). I just listened to an interview with a guy, who was considered one of the top-five flippers in fishing not long ago. And he's not even been able to convert it back into results for a while. The point they made in the interview too, was about other anglers who 'arrived' into professional fishing. They've changed how they fished over the years. And that is another point. That the 'natural type' of skill is good enough. In order to get one started in a sport, and after that. It's about a learning process (and being able to balance that learning curve, with the competition commitments in parallel). And no one has successfully cracked that nut. That's for sure.

    • @academicmailbox7798
      @academicmailbox7798 Год назад

      Heck, I know myself because I've designed and made lures over the years (the curse of being a designer, is that once you figure out how to make a lure fish right, you loose all interest in solving that problem, and you look for the next impossible problem to solve in lure engineering). And that's happened to me, where I've cracked the code in fishing time after time, only to realize something could not be improved or perfected any longer. And you lose interest in doing that completely. You'll notice an aspect of that with the 'bait tinkering' type of professional angler. They'll go through giant slumps in between success. And that's the reason. The research and development phase robs you of any consistency. It's kind of like gambling, where things operate back to front. When you're trying to develop a new lure, you almost get more satisfaction by having 'blank' days, than by having good days fishing. Because it means, having a blank, vacant fishing day. You've found another way how 'not' to catch fish, and you can completely eliminate that avenue of research (Thomas Edison had a similar way of solving problems, he discovered a thousand ways to 'not' to make a light bulb). Until he found the one way that you could. Fishing lures are like light bulbs in that respect.

    • @academicmailbox7798
      @academicmailbox7798 Год назад

      The episode of Cleared Hot on third of March with Stumpf, Hafer, Denman and Stark. Talking about doing sky diving jumps in seven continents in seven days. Is all about this subject of mission planning. There was one part of the episode where they explained, the guys they didn't trust themselve to pack their own parachutes. They trusted that only to two of the experts who were involved in the mission to roll the parachutes correctly (there is one image of four of them joining hands, and the great pyramid of Egypt is visible underneath in the shape they made in the sky). The obvious take-away being, that things like that don't happen, unless you have guys who are good at what they do. To illustrate where Andy is coming from however, it's worth contrasting that episode with the twenty-nineth of July in 2022 (episode 116), where Andy talked about an organized trip to Iceland to do likewise. That was organized by less capable folks he explained. In fact, I think that he learned from the Iceland trip exactly the scope of how fast these trips can deteriorate into chaos. And that was a useful illustration to Andy, because I think he reduced tolerance for the same in early 2023 on the seven continents mission.

    • @academicmailbox7798
      @academicmailbox7798 Год назад

      There's are really good part of 'The Current Wars' where actor Benedict Cumberbatch was asked by the actor who played the part of George Westinghouse, what it was like to make the first proper light bulb. I won't say that fishing lures are quite as 'world altering' as those key inventions. The point being though, that guys like Edison wouldn't even be satisfied. Unless they were throwing out a thousand 'wrong' ways to do something, to find the one way that you can. And competitive anglers I notice who work so hard 'in competition' in order to get to the point. Where they are given the task of making a new lure. Often times, it ruins them. Because these two ways to pursue fishing are totally at odds with each other. When making lures, it's about finding out ways 'not' to catch fish. And with competition, it's about finding ways 'to' catch them. And these two things are not compatible. There have been very few anglers in competition, who after they have designed something world-changing. Have ever been very good at fishing again. As the search to try and find the next new bait or lure, becomes more exciting than the actual competition does.

    hey Kristine, random observation and maybe I'm wrong but it always seems like when you do the massive hooksets where you're jumping out of your seat, you lose a lot of those fish. Entering my 3rd season of tournament fishing, I would have never thought a big name like Hobie would disqualify an anglers entire day because you casted 30min after line's out! You are a stand-up person/angler for admitting your mistake, but I would have assumed that any fish caught in that time frame would not be eligible for your 5 fish limit? I'm sorry you had a bad weekend with losing the kayak off the trailer and then the time limit on Saturday. Keep your head up, and keep grindin!! On to the next 👊😎
