Thank God I’m an introvert! I almost never feel lonely. If I see a neighbor and we chat for a few minutes, I’m good for two or three days. Too much exposure to people is so draining!

I'm the same way. I have a small number of friends I've had practically my whole life and I'm close with a small number of family members. I don't see them that often, but they don't drain me. They are very important to me. I have lived alone for most of my adult life because I have found that I'm happier that way. I was more of a social butterfly when I was really young, but I didn't NEED a lot of people to be happy then either.

#20, Loneliness, is killing me. I've lived off-grid on a mountain for the past 18 years, and my husband left me nine years ago and moved in with his girlfriend. I have no friends, my nearest neighbor is two miles away. I only go to town once a month for supplies, and that's the only time I see another human. I've been very depressed for years.
My animals keep me going; I have goats, chickens, cats a dog and a parrot who are my only friends. I'm so grateful for them!

Where do you live, and what made you decide to move to a very isolated location 18 years ago? Just wondering, and could you move somewhere less remote? Maybe getting some friends online might help, and video chat is your friend. Hit me up if you like.

3:12 One of the biggest obstacles to "manned space exploration (intra- or extra-) Solar is the sheer, incomparable vastness of space means an astronaut or crew are so isolated for a very long time. The amazing film The Martian gave a sample with how it took for him to have Earth receive a message then for him to receive the reply. IN 2001: A Space Odyssey, the news broadcast admitted to the necessary editing of their interview with the crewmen b/c of the time for each send and receive to travel! Isolation indeed can play upon one's thinking and mental health. HOW isolated may someone be w/o negative consequences? Pro-tip: Check in on your friends, especially the ones who don't/can't get "out and around" very much; Billy used to post a lot daily and now there's nothing?: GO see Billy (if you can). If you can't [distance/comm-wave] reach him for a LONG time, too bad. If physics ever manages a means of practical/common interstellar travel isolation will only be reduced, not eliminated. In a few of his novels, H. G. Wells explored the prison of being royalty. "What?," many would say. You may read Wells' work for yourself but I offer a real world example. When he was 5 years old, Prince Charles' mother, Queen Elizabeth II retuned home from a year long diplomatic global tour. Charles had not seen his mother for a whole YEAR. Upon her return, as she ascended from the the plane, young Charles did not excitedly race forth to hug his mom. NO, the young prince - in his official royal uniform - was only *allowed* to salute the Queen, his *mother*, as was "protocol." Is it any wonder that, given the bizarre rules thrust upon their roles from their youth, if someone thinks, "Well, that's not in touch with common folk." On a few up-notes, Charles-specific: 1) Forget when but I recall a speech Charles was presenting when some whacko [somehow] burst onto the stage, aiming a revolver at Charles! [OK, *bad* security breach but it was when our world could be a bit less paranoid.] It turned out the goof had a mere starter pistol. Who would know that? And as he raced onto the the podium, aiming then pulling its trigger, Charles calmly gazed at him sideways as if thinking, "What do you think you're doing?" :-O Next, I again forget when [late 80s, I'm guessing]: Of course, being a royal, your schedule [and life] is arranged years in advance. On a particular junket, there was a small country Charles was to visit and deliver an address. Though he would [likely] never be to this country again, Charles spent THREE YEARS learning and mastering their language so he could deliver the address in their native tongue!

IDK, people on Facebook or IG seem to be willing to do just about anything to get those “thumbs up” markers. I don’t have a clue how to work IG and have no intention of learning. I start hanging out with people and next thing I know they are off going here, there, lunch, coffee so I don’t worry about it. I’m perfectly fine with my own company. I was at an early doc appointment the other morning. When I came out I saw a Bob Evans nearby and took myself in for some of their excellent Brioche French Toast with fruit. It was yum! The coffee sucked. For some reason places that sell breakfast always have crappy coffee. So irritating! But anyway, just sat there and ate and read a book I had on my phone! It’s more of a hassle making “friends” with someone and then they turn around and pretty much dump you than it is to be by yourself.
Pretty bad when they have to bleep out Mike. It makes no sense when you know what’s being said and you fill it in!

2:12 I think it really depends on the dish. If it’s something I’ve cooked before and know how to make, it’s going to be a lot better, b/c I can customize it to my tastes (eg instead of Kraft singles for a grilled cheese, using mozzarella and provolone or goat cheese and brie - and using a panini press instead of a frying pan). If it’s a steak or something I’m not adept at; if someone else is making it’s probably going to be a lot better.
