  • Since the overturning of Roe v. Wade where half of US states could outlaw or reduce abortion services, more women could be turning to “Plan B,” America’s most recognized morning-after pill. Owned by two private equity firms, Kelso & Co. and Juggernaut Capital Partners, the pill is one of the highest-priced over-the-counter medications sold in the US at between $40 and $50. But confusion around the language on the label could mean trouble for the brand and its consumers.

    I swear, the minute the US bans all birth control I will leave the country. A lot of people don’t seem to realize women don’t just take contraception to prevent pregnancy, a lot use it to treat health problems. I’m a proud 27 year old celibate but HAVE to take birth control for a period disorder and have been on it since I was 16. If my body didn’t get the hormones that birth control provides my body with I would have 2-3 week long periods with non-stop bleeding and anemia due to the blood loss.

    A lot of medication that helps women is restricted. For instance, UTI medication is extremely difficult to get for no apparent reason. You have to go to a doctor (I have been told I had to wait 2 weeks for an appointment with my gyno), get a prescription, then you are able to obtain it, all while being in serious pain everyday. Same is true for yeast infections or BV. These drugs aren't more deadly than any other over the counter medication, and they aren't addictive. It is simply to make women suffer!

Birth rates are low and rich people need people to make babies so they can make money and have a continuous rate/flow of workforce. My final year in college I found out he was sabotaging The condoms we were using and stealthing me on nights I had a good amount of alcohol to drink. I was lucky that I never got pregnant all those months and when I found out, I had access to this. He was trying to get me pregnant so I wouldn’t leave him because he was also seeing another girl and asking her to marry him too. The story is such a long and complex story but Most girls that met him had no idea he was the kind of guy to do such a thing. He seemed like such a great guy, compassionate, down to earth, had a hard life growing up and seemed to have overcome a lot of obstacles. So much I knew about him was a lie and I cannot imagine the mess I’d be in had I become pregnant. As a country, we should have programs to assist people with sanitary products, contraception, and child care. Something that people below the poverty line often struggle with is access to things for their children and the necessary tools to access contraception so they stop having kids. Imagine having a child on minimum wage because you can't afford birth control. Then imagine you have another. It's a lot of mouths to feed when you can't even afford basic things. My father grew up poor and his mother had to get a lot of things second hand for him. My mother also grew up poor. • @murph_mustela
      @murph_mustela Год назад

      @Viva Cristo Rey Biologically speaking, you're incorrect. When humans lived as hunter-gatherers, a dozen or so kids was not normal. This was for the following reasons
      - Puberty was later. A girl might become fertile and capable of carrying a pregnancy to term at, say, 18 instead of 14.
      - Puberty was later because obesity was nonexistent, and periods of starvation were the norm. Starvation delays puberty.
      - Adult women often starved. When starving, they could not be fertile or carry a pregnancy to term.
      - Women always breastfed. They thus experienced lactational amenorrhea, so for at least 6 months they were infertile. If they were breastfeeding multiple children, or others' children, this could go on even longer.
      - Starvation caused menopause to occur earlier.
      So in our natural environment, having a few kids would have been more normal, not ~12. And having so many children inevitably puts a serious and significant strain on a woman's health.
      We could return to this state, but this would mean allowing women and children to starve, exclusively breastfeeding for at least 6 months of a baby's life, and never using formula. None of these things are possible or ethical in many cases.

But, with public pharmacists, you'd be less likely to get the problem of pharmacists refusing to give people contraception based on personal beliefs. Because while if you're a private pharmacist, you can legitimately refuse service due to personal beliefs, if you're a public pharmacist and you refuse service based on personal beliefs, you're not just practicing your beliefs, you're imposing your beliefs on others on behalf of the government, which doesn't belong in our country and (in the case of religious beliefs) is a violation of the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment.

    Even though I live in third world country I am so relieved things aren't like this here, I need to take the pill for health reasons, and I'm not even sexually active, there isn't a need for prescription here to buy the pill but I have one because it's for health reasons so I go to the doctor annually to check if everything is alright and she passes it just in case, (also becuase sometimes I buy it in a country next to mine which requires prescription, and it's a lot cheaper there, but they still dont make a big deal out of it). If I weren't taking the pill right now I'd probably be suicidal if not dead by now because I was severely anemic when I started taking it because of the amount of blood I had already lost, I was really depressed from the mood swings, and I'd miss school from the amount of pain I was feeling, just walking to the bathroom would make me cry, id puke from the cramps and nausea, eating would worsen my pain, i was weak, and life just felt pathetic.
