I am LATE to watching this, but I couldn't agree more about getting a lovely Doctor Who box set every Christmas. I was especially excited to be given the First Doctor box set because that was three stories I'd never seen before. Loved them! Even The Gunfighters.
I started watching Dr Who when I was 4 in 1973 ! The earliest Dr Who X-Mas present I got was the 1976 Annual and I kept getting them as presents into the 80's ! I had a Tom Baker Doll one year and a Dalek Board Game called War Of The Daleks in the 70's ! I used to take the Daleks from the board game and pit them against my airfix British soldiers because they had beret's and uniform like UNIT solders I pretended it was UNIT Vs The Daleks I rarely played the board game ! lol but The Daleks Vs my soldiers loads ! see you guys in jan at Chiswick !
Top vid! Thank you! I remember getting my Dapol TARDIS for Christmas '88. I got the Lovarzi umbrella and Abominable Snowmen DVD this year, both were a lovely surprise. Toying with getting Mary Tamm's book on the Fantom site.
@@p-bal I'm not sure I'd take mine out. Never been a brolly guy - they turn inside out and do my head in! It's a nice thing to hold though and my lad loves it too. The Mary Tamm book is out of stock so I got the Lalla book instead. Just recently watched Season 17 too. I was never fond of cacti though. 😁🌵
I never got Doctor Who themed stuff as a child but as an adult I have had a few nik-naks thrown my way (I don't mean the savoury snacks!). In fact this Xmas my wife bought me a huge TARDIS dressing gown which is very snuggly during these cold days! I would share a photo, if the comments allowed! Great video guys. Hope you had a lovely one and a happy new year to you all
@@p-bal I'm no Miss Hardaker, but I've never really been keen on that too much in DW. I think the Dr Who meets Byker Grove ft. Thundercats of Survival was just the right balance for me. I also don't like the idea of it between the Dr and companions. Again, don't wanna get all Miss Hardaker, just think other formats handle it better, whereas DW doesn't really require it.
@@barstang I think the New Adventures were sold on being "edgy and adult" so they felt they had to drop in some sex, drugs and swearing. I agree, it never needed it!
Pbal - your copy of timeframe. Is it the 1st or 2nd edition? Fun fact. The 1st edition had a picture printed the wrong way up. This was corrected in the 2nd edition. Interestingly, the 2nd edition is rarer because less were printed. My 1st edition was stolen at school & so I have a 2nd edition replacement.
I’ve had Dr Who themed Christmas gifts every year since I was 10. I’m now 43.
Have you kept them all? Any highlights?
Cup of wee!!! 😆😆😆

It's a great read! I would say that, but it's true. I got a ? brolly recently too, but not taken it out yet.

@@barstang I think the cacti line is my favourite summation of Meglos! 😂

Are you wearing the TARDIS dressing gown to watch Doctor Who in?
@@p-bal I didn't last night but I am sure I will in the future! Still got plenty of the season 2 boxset to get through
I got the Dalek video tin in '93 when I was 13, and a box of New Adventure books that I was slightly too young for and found quite racy in parts.
Yep. I was 10 in '93 and deffo found some of the New Adventures a little bit beyond what I was used to, or expecting. Didn't tell my mum though.
@@barstang Yes! Some of the New Adventures were a bit fruity at the time when you were young and reading the Target books!

I'll have to check. Was it An Unearthly Child accidentally reversed?
