Natural light is critical. If your tank is your not near windows, you need to use a full-spectrum light. Check out my instruction video ruclips.net/video/H7jyCvj5JhE/видео.htmlsi=z9h0-mrhX7S58MyF
Either you scoop from other’s goldfish tank or you make the green water by yourself. Watch this video, the workflow chart will teach you how-to ruclips.net/video/H7jyCvj5JhE/видео.html
I’ve found success in growing green algae but im also getting a lot of the cyanobacteria(?) the greenish blue algae 😧 I’ve read that that happens from too much light but is there another way to prevent the bluegreen algae from appearing??
Hi Erica, first of all congrats to your success in growing green carpet algae. The issue your reported is normal. Green carpet algae has a life cycle, too. When it is not strong or dying, the other type algae will take the place. No secret but do this via regular maintenance. You have to remove the blue algae or even the old green carpet algae completely and the regrow. Good luck
@@GoldfishCorner thank you for responding my text . im very glade that you here to teach us so many things about goldfish . i came back this hobby after 2 years . i have 4 ranchus and 2 orandas currently . i wished to get more . but as an international student i have to leave my home county after COVID restrictions is over in china . i hope that i can continue my hobby in china .
sorry don't understand the green water part/ let say I create green water from bottles which I place outside let sun light shine on it. I put the green water into my fish tank , literally am I creating transfer algae seed to the fish tank? Will my fish get sick ? next if not , will create green alage inside my fish tank? Actually my fish light is those pinkish red type.
That is a low pressure diffuser for normal aeration. It makes finer bubble than your usual airstone so i use it before i change it to regular airstone bar 😂

How long does the light need to be on daily?
Full spectrum light 12hr/day
Amazing 🤩
Thanks
uv light or full spectrum?
@@mochine1340 full spectrum LED to mimic sunlight, but UV lights to kill green water and promote green carpet
Will it work if I have overhead trickle filter? Because the pump will just suck the green water into the wool filter.
Yes, the green carpet will not start near the inlet of your pump, but somewhere the water current is slow, then gradually cover the whole bottom

16 hours a day for the first 2 weeks, then i reduce it to 10hours a day only to maintain the algae 😊

The fish wont get sick (there might be exceptions)
Is he diffusing CO2 into the water to get it going too? 00:42 - 1:00 right hand side diffuser.

idk why, but it's really hard for me to get hair algae in a aquarium compared to a pond. it's somehow easier to grow in a pond.
Add more fish. You already have full sunlight and large volume of water. What is water temperature? 25-29 C best for carpet algae.
co2 is cheating 😅
