Learn the minor pentatonic positions first and then play it. It will make more sense and you will be able to add some of your own blusey shredding learn to put chord progressions then solo over it with a boss looper( don’t just default to backing tracks learn to make your own backing track so you work on your rhythm and lead)
For decades my ignorance of Jimi Hendrix had me thinking of him as just a messy noise maker. But now, at 63, as I learn to play I want to emulate the man. I hear people call him the best ever, the first to play in this style. So I decided to have a listen. I listened to the Monterey pop festival, and realized the man was a genius. A coworker turned me on to Red House...POW my mind was blown. Then I heard a version of Hear My Train A Coming that is just epic. So now as I learn I have these riffs burned into my brain as clear as Smoke On The Water. Your work here is absolutely spot on. I had been just faking my way through but now I will study this tablature until I can play it correctly and with style. Well done, and thank you.
have a listen to everything on his Rainbow Bridge recordings which were released after his death, hear my train is one of those. Top billing here would be Pali Gap and New rising sun.
Crazy ! I been listening to Jimi since I was 12. He is one of the very few musicians I never get tired of. You can put Jimi on in any setting at it works. Wait to you realize what a great singer he actually was.
I was a fan the first time I heard him just before his death. He inspired me to learn to play guitar...That was over 50 years ago now....and to this day His playing still blows me away. His imagination was endless. If you listen to him play Red House at all the many concerts he played ( many are availible on You tube) - he never played Red House the same - never ever. He always found a way of making it new. amazing.
Sure with you there. For years my only impression of Jimmy was loud and messy until I started playing blues. There was a light bulb moment. He was a master improviser as well as great guitarist.
You should do alot more Hendrix. I, like alot of people, are ridiculous fans of his work and you capture everything the accuracy the passion beauty and the sound. I tip my hat to you. Your Little Wing is a magical copy.
right, it just makes you respect the original some more, and props to you this is the closest. alot of people can read the tab, but very very few actually can time the bends, and deliver them. love watching these. this was a great red house. thank you.
I came across this video and I have to say, it’s probably the best version (incredibly accurate) of Red House! If Jimmy was singing, it would have sounded like the original! You are extremely talented at playing guitar.
Love Jimi and appreciate this performance! FYI, this is the studio version. Jimi almost never played it this fast live. He turned this song into a 10 minute experience
He did indeed! Out of all the many recordings of Red House I’ve accumulated over the decades (lost count, but Albert Hall, Newport, Berkeley, Stockholm, LA, Frankfurt, Atlanta, Maui, Boston, Baltimore, Fillmore East, etc., etc...), I think Winterland is the longest, at just over 14 minutes! This is a great rendition of the studio version though. 👍
You Are The Man Sir. You've documented the epic: "Are You Experienced" Album version: Note for note of "Red House"! A left hand Strat strung for right hand player's. There are two men who've played the studio album "Red House" note for note: You sir and Brett Papa. Jimi Hendrix never managed to play his studio version ever again. You've suceeded in transcribing this song for all to study! Thank You
THIS is what I consider to be Jimi's crowning achievement. It is truly the perfect blues song set on a 12 bar blues structure. Jimi's playing has so much emotion and character and it kicks the ass of any generic carboard blues licks or songs that you hear so much of in todays world.
Yes! He did things with his licks, hooks and progressions. He moved them around a lot and flexed them in ways never seen before and almost never see since except for SRV.
I like that you use your pinky for the 3rd semitone instead of stretching your ring finger. That is how I was taught and I have a harder time learning from players that don't. Great job.
@Mr. Lazer Maybe he did. Just couldn’t say it in the formal terms Listen to little wing, castles made of sand, bold as love We’ll never know. Maybe if you believe in God, He will show you one day
@Mr. Lazer that’s because music isn’t about “theory” or anything you can learn in a textbook music is about feeling and being in touch with sound things that cannot be put into words
@@JoshLousk that's just not true it's more like you gotta find the middle ground Jimi obviously knew keys and chords and notes I mean c'mon he definitely knew the fretboard lik the back of his hand
Tabby: Your accuracy is astounding. I'm a huge HUGE Hendrix fan and I honestly believe you could beat him in a challenge to play his songs the same way four times in a row. He prolly couldn't do it, but I'm certain you could. FANTASTIC work, Sir Tabs. Again, I doff my cap to you, Guitarman.
One of my all time favorites from Hendrix and also my most favorite version (he performed many versions). Well done and not one flaw. As one other guy said below, this is the best cover of Red House I have ever seen.
the last lyrics of this song kill me everytime "'Cause if my baby don't love me no more I know her sister will" haha dude literally note for note spot on of the best version (imo) of this song
Of the youtube channels of this type, this guy is the best I have seen, his playing is great, he is pretty accurate, and of course the way he dresses the part is a nice added touch!
Great track! I like how you have a left hand guitar string upsideown. This is how Fender should have done the Hendrix Strat. It just looks weird with only the headstock turned upside down.
This is the easiest Hendrix song to learn on guitar... which shows the level of virtuosity that this guitar god had in his hands!! Perfectly executed, very good tribute, buddy!
Oh my goodness! Your tabs are perfectly accurate and your playing even better. I've been searching for such lessons since I remember. I can't imagine how much time and love you dedicate to such accurate transcriptions! I never loved tabs cause they were so inaccurate. But you are wow! And I love how you match the guitar and outfit with the songs. And your selection of songs is implacable. The good old-school rocknroll songs I dreamed of playing! I was using your lesson for "Since I've been loving you" and I came across your channel and I felt I found treasure! I really appreciate your work. Keep up the the wonderful work please! Lots of LOVE!
That tone is identical. Its scary. Like legitimately. Everything is nailed. People put too much fizziness on jimis tones (me included 😭) but you nailed the actual tone, legit ballsy.

The plug-ins are available to all my Patreon subscribers so you that if you have Amplitube Max yourself, you can get exactly the same tone as me at home. I also offer screenshots of the virtual amps and pedals so that if you don’t have Amplitube you can attempt to replicate the tone using whatever equipment you have available. He's really one of those artists that you learn once and then go back more accomplished and learn all over again.
Awesome playing and thanks for the lessons!! FYI: the original version of this song that was released on Jimis debut album is the one on the “Blues” posthumous album. The original version is definitely worth checking out!
I thank you from the buttom of my heart for this beathyful video. I try to learn and understand what i am playing, the key, chord, everything that is related.
UPDATE! I'm getting closer! Still some things I'm not really fluid on and I'll probably never get it note for note but it's definitely opened some doors in my blues playing 100%. It still just blows my mind that a 23 year old kid could play a deep blues like this and original too. I hear a whole lot of BB and Albert King and also some Cream in it now but Hendrix just took it all to another level, man.
I have been using this video to learn the song and just realised that the guitar is tune half a step down... I guess the positive is that my ears can recognise the difference.
Ok, ok, Jimi you can show your face now 👌👌👌👌 Best cover on RUclips so far - also the guitar, the Marshall amp and the dressing - never came over anything similar until now - both thumbs up, this is incredible

I hadn't notice that. Cool.
And not to forget the costumes too
