Vasary won a price at Chopin's competition. No surprise in Debussy's interpretation. Vasary is still alive (living in Budapest I believe, aged 90 or more)
I had this LP, and is one of my favorite Debussy recordings, for the right tempi, and the elegance of the touch. Could you post the remaining of the album ? Thanks ?
Stunning from beginning to end - even with my mild questioning of the tempo of the minuet - maybe more in keeping with minuetto - but a fabulous colorist who never loses sight of the structure. I've always known the name but the playing is great find for me.
This is a brilliant comment that perfectly articulates what seems "off" about other pianists I've heard playing this prelude! His counting really is eccentric but it makes the piece sing
Greatest recording EVER!

My favorite interpretation of the Suite Bergamasque and Deux Arabesque.
My best pianist forever.

Prelude... Others are 1 - 2 - 3 - 4, This is 1 - 2,3,4. Wow.
