    Just purchased but have not yet received my 5400. Watching several various RUclips videos and found yours to be the most clear and concise of them all. Truly appreciate the thoughful way you organized the features you wanted to demo and most of all your clear and moderately slow speech and diction making the learning about this machien very clear. Can't wait to receive my 5400 and try all the wonderful coffees you demonstrated!

    Finally had our 5400 arrive last month and wow it’s so amazing!!! Never before was a huge hot coffee drinker, I have a pretty good Braun drip coffee maker but it doesn’t compare to this. Never really knew much about or ever drank espressos, americano, Cafe Au Lait, cappuccino, or many other hot drinks. Was always the typical iced coffee drinks from Starbucks. Being winter out has helped but I love these drinks now!!! Finding the best coffee beans to use for certain drinks is the new adventure.

    I have the 5400 LatteGo now! Very nice in all functions. Especially the milk system! It's unique! No problems with "milk-tubes/pipes" and the bacteria! Just a little bit noisy. Maybe close the kitchen door early in the morning. No problem for me. But many people in Europe talk about the noise. But for the price very ok! Thanks for the nice video.

      Curious about cleaning the milk frother since there are no internal tubes. Do you just run hot water through the frother to clean the internal mechanism? Thank you.

      Hey there, you can press the milk clean button and hot water will pass thru to clean the carafe. The carafe comes apart and can be placed in the dishwasher to disinfect.

    Just one clarification. A single Aquaclean water filter will not allow the machine to brew up to 5000 cups between descaling. It will require many Aquaclean filters over that timeframe to allow the 5000 cup descaling interval. On average between two coffee drinkers we have to replace the Aquaclean filter every three months, it is still well worth it however. On another note I have owned both Delonghi and Philips machines now and Philips has vastly superior after sales customer service.

    Hi! I felt like the 3200 was perfect, till I saw the 4300, and then - until I saw the 5400 which is when I found your video in attempts to see what the 5400 has the edge on. As for the travel mug feature, how is it that the 5400 can do it but the 4300 cannot? Do the models differ in how tall drinkware can be? In the video, the travel mug looked short enough to be a regular mug. I use a taller travel mug but probably no differently sized than the tall glass mug you use at the 10:30 mark… (thanks..) Edit - my mug is around 7” high, I’m guessing a lot of people just pour the brewed coffee into their mug. (My mug fits my cup holder for the car).

    • @carlo1132

      Hi Naomi, The max cup size for the 4300 and 5400 is 5.9"

    • @Consiglioskitchenware
      @Consiglioskitchenware  2 года назад +3

      Hey Naomi,
      The 5400 travel mug will allow you to access a higher volume, closer to approx 12.2 oz.
      The foot print of the units are the same Width 24.6 cm / Height 37.2 cm / Depth 43.3 cm.
      If you have a very tall travel mug you will need to transfer the brewed coffee into it as it will not fit under the spouts.
      Adjustable Spout Height 8.5 - 14.5 cm
      Have a great day!
      Ciao.

    • @Consiglioskitchenware
      @Consiglioskitchenware  Год назад +1

      Hi there,
      Great questions.
      Jura machine maintenance:
      - milk frother clean cycle, daily
      - brew unit clean cycle, monthly (approx.)
      - the smart filter removes the need to descale, if you do not use the recommended water filter, you'll descale when the machine light comes on. On average every 2-3 months, or depending on your usage on the machine.
      Philips maintenance:
      - remove the brew unit, weekly and rinse under the sink
      - the Aqua Clean water filter will allow you to not have to descale for up to approx. 5000 cups, but you will still need to change the water filter on average every 2-3 months, depending on your water hardness setting and machine usage.
      Excellent questions, have a fabulous day!

      @Consiglioskitchenware  2 года назад

      Hi Gavin,
      Sorry for the late reply.
      The Dinaimica Plus can do cold brew. That is one of the main differences.
      If you love cold brew then the Dinamica offers that. It brews at a cooler temp, so you do not have to water it down with so much ice.
      You can always add extra ice to a hot brew, or simply toss it into the fridge.

    • @Consiglioskitchenware
      @Consiglioskitchenware  2 года назад

      Hi Domenica,
      Thanks for the comments.
      The Philips machines are excellent and get loads of positive feedback. They are fully automatic and will make consistent beverages for you each time.
      As you know there are a few models of the Philips - 4300 and 5400.
      The 5400 has the most beverages to choose from, extra shot function, travel mug option and 4 user profiles.
      When working with manual machines, you are the one who acts as the 'barista'. You'll need to ensure the tamping pressure is correct and the grind size and dose are correct as well.
      With the Philips fully automatic machines, simply add beans and milk to the machine, press the Latte button and the machine takes care of the rest for you!
      It comes down to what process you are also looking for.
      I recommend the Philips over the Breville Touch.

    What's the price difference between the 5400 vs 4300 (mid range)? It's just my husband and I and we don't really need the 4 permanent profiles. I do want the Extra Shot Feature, but I assume I can just do a Ristretto + Whatever I'm making to get that extra shot.

      The 5400 is the only Philips machine that has the extra shot feature. For the 4300, you'll need to press and make a second shot of espresso as a second step altogether.
      Both units are excellent, the 5400 has the most amount of beverage options, profiles, and customization.

      Hi Chris,
      No, the machines cannot be connected directly to a water line. That is not common for home use and is not recommended for home use.
      Only very large units intended for office or commercial use can sometimes be connected to the waterline directly.
      The Philips machines water tanks are front loading on the LatteGo line up which makes topping up the water tanks easy.

    • @Consiglioskitchenware
      @Consiglioskitchenware  3 года назад +7

      Hi Melisa, thanks for reaching out! We recommend espresso beans for these machines. The process to brew standard coffee beans is different, and in order to achieve the best results, espresso beans are recommended. It is also important to use high-quality non-oily espresso beans. Some brands that are over roasted to disguise impurities can be harmful to your machine, these brands are typically very shiny and sticky. We do our own roasting of premium high grown espresso beans. The quality of coffee you use is the most important factor in achieving a premium cafe-quality beverage. You can view our espresso coffee at this link - www.consiglioskitchenware.com/collections/fresh-roast-espresso

    • @Consiglioskitchenware
      @Consiglioskitchenware  Год назад

      Hey there,
      If your units water hardness is set to high, it will prompt you to change the water filter more frequently.
      You can reach out to a Philips tech support agent at 1 833 737 1212 and they can troubleshoot with you.
      Your unit will work after changing the filter 8 times. It will, however, prompt you to do a descale after the 8th filter needs to be changed.
      Have a great day!

    Question: putting the price aside, Philips 5400 and Jura Z10, which one produces the best coffee?

    • @Consiglioskitchenware
      @Consiglioskitchenware  2 года назад +1

      Hi Francis, thanks for the question.
      The 5400 makes 12 hot beverages. The Z10 makes 32 hot or cold beverages. They are different units. The 5400 is made in Italy, the Z10 is made in Switzerland. The Z10 is a larger unit overall.
      The grind setting and the type of espresso bean have a very large role in the overall taste of the beverage.
      If you are looking for a machine that can do cold brew coffee and milk based beverages then the Z10 is the way to go! There is more technology built into the Z10, for example for cold brew the grinder will automatically grind a coarser grind and the unit will use higher pressure with cold water to extract more aroma and flavour for cold brew.

    • @Consiglioskitchenware

      Hi Kenny great questions.
      The 5400 offers 12 beverages, extra shot function and travel mug with 4 user profiles.
      The Dinamica Plus offers cold brew technology, 16 beverage options, ability to connect machine to smart phone via app, and user profiles.
      If you value having smart phone connectivity and cold brew technology then that is something to consider.
      Both machines will produce a barista quality beverage!

      Hi Louis,
      An extra shot goes into another drink like a cappuccino, latte or coffee.
      A double espresso, is a drink all on its own. It is two shots of espresso :)

      Hi there, the 4300 lattego makes 8 espresso based beverages: espresso, coffee, Americano, cappuccino, latte macchiato, café au lait, caffé crema, ristretto, milk froth and hot water. The 3200 only makes 5 options, espresso, coffee, Americano, cappuccino, latte macchiato, and hot ristretto.

    Hi, one of the best and most descriptive videos I have seen in a long time. THANKS! I have TWO questions. and sorry if they are already asked, could not go through all 136 comments :) 1. Except for the number of drinks that they can make, are there any other differences between 5400 and 4300? 2. When buying coffee beans, how can I tell without opening the bag, that the coffee is oily or not? Is it mentioned on package? Any other way you recommend us buying it? In Indy I do not have access to your brand coffee. THANKS again!

    • @Consiglioskitchenware
      @Consiglioskitchenware  2 года назад +1

      Hi Sly,
      Great questions. Unfortunately, packages of beans won't really reveal if they are oily or not.
      Some tips on espresso beans:
      - avoid oily whole beans, or use it in preground form via bypass
      - you can tell if beans are oily if they are very shiny
      - if you hold a few beans and they leave a residue, they are likely too oily
      - look for beans that are matte in colour
      5400:
      - 12 beverages
      - extra shot function
      - travel mug
      - user profiles
      4300:
      - 8 beverages
      - user profiles
      I hope this helps clarify.

    Thank you for this video! This is a wonderful explanation and the best one I've seen explaining the 5400. I do have a question which is a major hassle with my current machine. Because I do use an oily bean I have to always use the bypass access for the ground espresso blend. Can you save the bypass setting to your profile? Thank you again for the video and the advanced help!

    • @Consiglioskitchenware
      @Consiglioskitchenware  2 года назад

      Hi Crystal,
      Thanks for the comments and for the excellent question.
      To the best of my knowledge, you will need to manually select bypass. You can of course save all other preferences to the user profile, strength, volume, etc. The unit will need you to manually select bypass as it is done on a basis-by-basis scenario. Otherwise, the unit will grind fresh beans each time. There is no way to program bypass to a user profile.
      I did confirm this with a Philips Tech Agent as well.
      Some tips on espresso beans:
      - avoid oily whole beans, or use it in preground form via bypass
      - you can tell if beans are oily if they are very shiny
      - if you hold a few beans and they leave a residue, they are likely too oily
      - look for beans that are matte in colour
      Safe beans to use in the grinder are Consiglio's locally roasted beans. They are matte in colour, not shiny, not oily and safe for all grinders and automatic machines.

      Hey Ashley, I trust you have sourced the answer.

      - 12 beverages
      - extra shot function
      - travel mug
      4300:

    • @ConnectCreativeDesign
      @ConnectCreativeDesign 2 года назад

      @@sylviasanchez5868 Hi there. Oily beans are bad for two main reasons. The first reason not to use them is that over time they will stick to and clog up the burrs of the grinder. But by far the biggest reason not to use them is simply taste - oily, shiny beans are typically old, poor quality beans, usually from supermarkets. These beans have been roasted (often very dark), packaged then sit in a warehouse for months, if not longer. They will taste awful! Freshly roasted beans will have a nice matt appearance, and during extraction will release all their oils in to the coffee creating an amazing, sweet crema. It's very hard to create a coffee with a decent crema using oily beans.

    What is your personal opinion Saeco Xelsis vs Philips 5400?

    • @Consiglioskitchenware
      @Consiglioskitchenware  2 года назад

      Hi Chevalier, thanks for commenting.
      A main difference between the two is that the Xelsis can brew 2 milk-based beverages at a time thanks to the design of the milk spouts. This is unique and not seen on too many machines. The Xelsis also offers 15 beverage options and has 6 user profiles.
      The 5400 is one of Saeco/Philips newest models. It offers 12 beverage options, 4 plus 1 guess user-profiles, and a unique extra shot function.
      Both models have the same internal brewing unit. Both machines yield a wide variety of beverages and are both very easy to use. For more specs please see the links below.

    Can you use regular coffee grounds or is this specifically for grinding beans? Great video though! Girl, show me how to make the perfect iced coffee. I cannot perfect any iced I try to make. I don't know if it's the water or ice.

    • @Consiglioskitchenware
      @Consiglioskitchenware  2 года назад

      Hi Melissa, thanks for your questions and comments.
      You can use the bypass on the units. This means that you will use one scoop of preground espresso, that goes into the bypass chute (sits just in front of the bean hopper). You then select the 'bypass' option on the menu and you'll be good to go! This is often used for decaf preground, but can be used for any preground espresso.
      The Philips models brew hot coffee/espresso. You can brew your beverage and toss it into the fridge to cool, then you'll be able to enjoy with less ice. This means you are not watering it down.
      You can also explore the Dinamica line of DeLonghi, these machines can brew iced coffees! How does it work? Well, the unit brews at a cooler temp, then you can use less ice. Many models come with an ice cube tray too, so you can freeze espresso ice cubes - this means no watering down at all! How exciting!

      What makes you think you have the right to "judge" this person on their looks? This isnt a dating app, it is a review. let her do her job and leave her alone. comment on content, NOT her looks.

    About the brewing unit that comes out, isnt this basically the same or very similiar to other brand machines and is the most copied part? In other words, most same caliber machines use the same compaction of grinds for the puck, same psi/bar, samegrinder type/style, etc. Saying that, many machones make an equal coffee for you and its just the looks and feel of the machones that we choose? I feel these Philips are superior just for the frother since it has no tubes etc!

      Hi William,
      Philips has similar brewing units to Saeco and Gaggia.
      Each machine offers a different style, beverage options, user profiles, settings, etc.
      So it comes down to what beverages work best for you, the size of the machine, style, milk frothing style, etc.

      Hi Blake, that is correct, a ceramic conical burr grinder.

      I don't think any Super Espresso machine doesn't have a burr grinder because you could never produce consistent espresso without one.
