When creating a skin, you have the option to change the horizontal and vertical movement ranges affected by pattern indexes separately - For the moonlight series, the effect is created by setting the vertical movement range to 0.0, and the horizontal range value to allow for horizontal movement, so something like 1.0, 0.9, 0.8, etc
Also, I *think* the Monarch series relies on the user having the prior knowledge of biomimicry experiments done at Yale - A group of scientists were essentially able to incite a form of evolution in butterflies that caused their wings to change colours, this was the first instance of a human-caused structural change occurring within an animal, but I could be reaching with this one. I have no way of verifying it’s connection to this research, I just notice similarities. I’d imagine the system he’s imagining the skins would have would be similar to doppler phases, but I’m not sure if he knows that those are all accomplished in the same pattern template
Ill have to look into that experiment, sounds incredibly interesting. As for the skin Id love if valve were more open to new ideas like that but I'm sure they wouldn't even entertain it unfortunately. I've recently chatted with an artist with several skins in the game and he told me that valve is really resistant to anything like that despite immense community support.
@@slumbubba Well I wouldn`t mind if you made more videos which are categorized with skin types. Mil-spec, covert, silly skins, horror skins, futuristic skins... and keep going in depth when talking about it. I love that, just don`t go down path like some youtubers do. The more insight you obtain in skins, the better critique you will make. McThiccen (former youtuber) would sometimes get in contact with creators when she featured their skins in her videos in order to give even more in depth analysis
@@pavo_9768 I would love to hear insights from creators but unfortunately when I reach out I often don't hear back. Which I understand because as of right now I don't really have enough of a following for them to deem worth responding. It could also just get lost among the plethora of people messaging them but I digress. As for the more in depth analysis I've found that unfortunately the more in-depth/longer I go focusing on single skins/skin lines the worst the video retention is. For example this video I really tried to keep myself from talking as long as I would like and the video watch % is much better than some previous videos. It absolutely makes my day when people like yourself tell me they want to hear more and I'm gonna experiment with some different ways of giving you that in the future. Like potentially making an alt channel for barely trimmed cuts or even doing some live on twitch where you can watch the vod for the full experience. Thank you so much for your continued support
