I am so excited to get my Soul Exchange in the mail lol
...that Soul exchange is impressive. it's an extra card in any line of play, but extra tribute summons have hilarious possibilities, and you can swipe your opponents. your thinking Floo. heck, im thinking true Draco.
I currently don't have a favorite card from this set. i mean... it gives me a new deck to try with Runick in White Woods, makes my exodia lovin' arse have an actually functional modern archetype to make out of it, and is part of the Gimmick Puppet support era as well as Vaalmonica. 3 of my favorite decks are right there just in legacy support or adjacent support. and for the most part im not even mad about the naming issues i normally have with the TCG names.
The name is just funny to me lol. I'm testing it currently as a one of for fun. I tribited a Spright board away earlier today for Avian and it felt great lol. Its hands down my favorite card in the set, though a close second is Tiara Friase. This Madolche support is just what it needed! The best monster in the deck is now a quick effect, and Messengelato has more than one good beast in the deck to trigger it's effect. Not to mention the new Link-3 seems like it was made for that interaction specifically, but it can also just get whatever you'd need. Not too happy about the Charmy cards, but Yu-Gi-Oh will be Yu-Gi-Oh lol. I hope the new Vaalmonica support helps! I feel like people are focusing too much on the doom and gloom of the even worst "tier 0" format we're in that the really cool cards in the set get overshadowed.
@@BeardedSnowlYGO very nice for the Madolche support. the Vaalmonica supports a bit... interesting. so we have 2 new cards here.
Vaalmonica Creation is the one getting all the attention of the two. it's a continous trap that makes all Vaalmonica links go up 1200 attack (so the originals swing at 3700 each. remember duralume as a conditional triple attack), and it has other effects beyond that passive effects. as HOPTs each it does the following- allows you to chain a special summons of a valmonica link when the opponent special summons when on the field. the real meats in the final effect- when sent to the grave as an HOPT it raises either resonance scale to 3 if it wasn't already at 3. this means that discarding creation to set the vaalmonica scales via the effects of the pendulums results in one immediately getting 3 resonance on it's own, so you can set up the original links much faster. so it makes your links beefier, speeds up their summons when taken out, and gives you the ability to summon more copies of the links, who all have SOPT effects, limited by HOPT summons.
and then we have... this. this TCG name is... egh. Varar, Vaalmonican Concord. YGOORG does it better again, so im going with their name of Valar, Vaalmonican Hallow Hymn. still has a better religious tone, just obscured, and I prefer Valar over varar. it reminds me of something else in the TCG did... anyway. so Valar's shtick is that its a 3k link 2 vaalmonica that while it requires a vaalmonica link to be used as material for it, is unaffected by any non-vaalmonican card so long as you've built up 6 resonance or more. for every vaalmonican level 4 you keep on field it can attack an extra time, and it has an SOPT effect to remove 3 counters to negate a special summon of your opponent and destroy it.
my opinion on this flits between "awesome" and "win more". on the one hand- potentially unaffected 3k beater that can turn into a potential 4.2k beater with conditional multiattacks. as cool as that is, you already have duraluma and zebufera's tag team able to end a match if the opponent caught off guard, and Zebufera being on board helps protect the scales. plus your opponent already loses attack from most creatures if your playing the deck properly, so there's not much the original links can't take out backed up by an on field Creation. but between the special summon negate effect and the fact sometimes you need the extra punch, I think it'll be occasionally used.
It still sounds good to me! I'm glad Vaalmonica is still getting support. Hopfully after this next banlist we can see some Vaalmonica players top!
@@BeardedSnowlYGO it would be interesting if it happened, but the deck... seems lacking that punch to be able to work. even an optimal board on T1 isn't much more than either zebufera-bagooska pass with some backrow, or the most common variant bringing in exosister elements.
Here's to hoping one day! Vaalmonica Fiendsmith? Minus the price point of course lol. I've seen someone make Bahamut-Toad along side the usual board using two Selettrice. I'm not sure how frequently that can be done though. They might have pendulum summoned two out, but I forget.

I'm 100% testing Soul Exchange as a one of, and I'll consider siding Bettan Bat for the time being. I'm in the lab cooking something for sure lol
