A lot of these comments say that what you’re doing intarsia but I’m fairly certain you’re actually doing a combination of intarsia and fair isle, which is something i’m doing on a project i’m working on atm so this video was very helpful! thanks!
So happy, after all these years of knitting Xmas stockings with names, to see a method for doing this!!!!❤❤❤❤ 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 some how I’ve figured it out but grit my teeth through the part of the chart for knitting the names!!!!
So glad to help! It’s so hard to find knitting tutorials if you don’t know specific names for specific techniques. And I still don’t know what to call this exactly 🤣
Hello there. I'm no pro at knitting and I'm not here to teach you. Just sharing what I learned, you can look it up and decide for yourself... There are several colourwork techniques in knitting. Intarsia is one of them and is done as you described it, with a yarn bobbin or small ball for each individual colour section. It's mainly used when you knit big blocks of colour. You opted for not having a bunch of bobbins, which makes complete sense with that chart, and resorted to a different technique called Stranded Colourwork, also known as Fair Isle. Resuming, from my knowledge, what you showing is not Intarsia, it's Stranded knitting. I hope you don't take offense with my comment, it's not meant to be. We are all learners.
Thanks for commenting! No offense taken. I honestly wasn’t sure if it would be considered stranded just because it’s not for the whole row 😅 but good to know!
I can’t thank you enough for this. I’ve spent days looking for a video on this topic because my pattern says to carry the yarn behind each motif. Thank you for a very clear demonstration!!
Love your video! Subscribed. You are easy to understand, easy to follow. I especially like your reasoning. Your voice is pleasant. I look forward to seeing your other videos!
I am doing a patch work cover using intarsia so I don't need to sew squares I snip and retie my yarn ever six rows and I don't twist I knit 2 as 1 for the new yarn

Beautiful colors, you are an artist, im not that fancy, just make simple projects but i love learning new techniques, enjoying the video ❤
Thank you so much!

You’re so welcome! I’m glad it helped so much 🧡
You are knitting "fair Isle" and not Intarsia!
i thought fair isle was particular to the shetland islands not necessarily a technique.
@@rjbrewer09fair isle is indeed a specific technique.
It is not fair isle because fair isle only uses two colours at max in every row. She is simply knitting stranded color work.

Thank you so much! I really appreciate that 🧡
Great video!
Well done😊
Thank you!
Beautiful! God bless you 😇
Thank you! You too!
Very good
This isn’t intarsia it’s standard stranded or fair isle colourwork
I am doing a patch work cover using intarsia so I don't need to sew squares I snip and retie my yarn ever six rows and I don't twist I knit 2 as 1 for the new yarn
That’s so cool! I love that idea for something like that
@@woolnwords depending on how you use the yarn u get squares, uneven blocks or stripes
Doing 50 stitches per yarn so 6 balls of yarn so 300 wide
This is over complicated Fair isle not intarsia
Next time, try a plain background. It’s easier on the eyes that way.
Definitely! I’m working on getting a new background hopefully soon. Thank you for your feedback!
Your video is really wonderful. Your voice is so soothing. Some of us knitters do not have the very best eyesight.
Thank you so much
This is not intasia.
