LMFAOOOOOO I just love how the guy reacted by cursing at 1:32-1:36 just because of the not in service train. Like he must’ve been pissed he’s late to his job or on his way home.
Very cool video of my favorite subway car which is R143
2:52 When you have to backtrack into Manhattan just to go underground
Can we see a test? Or is that an inspectors only kind of thing?
I was on the train of many metals I think you ran into me a couple times
R179 3010-3019 is back on mta proper now, from the bombardier factory,is it testing?
That's a good question
Amazing.
Oh wow cool
Wow, I didn't know the MTA actually tests emergency brakes!
True!
Well, the R143 is about 16 years old and the brakes are aging so they need to be replaced with newer ones
@DJLilFace 222 *did
Why is the train going backwards 😒 but apparently he would get into a accident 😐 😕 🤔 😂 😒 😔
Wow!
Nice video!
Why do they need brake testing if they been in service for 16 years already?
Ford Escape aging brakes don't work like they used to there for if the emergency brakes don't work properly/safely they need to be replased
Caught this going to B.36 from B.44
Great.
Awesome
7:43 Why Does It Sound Like The R110A for a little bit
I want you to bring back the brown its route: bay ridge 95th street, Lawrence street, pacific street, botanic garden, ft Hamilton parkway, 50 st, 90th st, Wyckoff Avenue, 4th Avenue, Lexington Avenue 34th street, models: r32 r42 r160
Pretty much a dumb comment if you'd ask me
Anthony Plays true 😂
Anthony Plays hey none of that sas none of that sas

NTTs in the Rockaways? Hax! Just imagine R143s on the 8th Avenue Lines!
Nice catch, Dj Hammers!

wait will R143's go out of service during the L line shutdown or be used on other lines, I would totally want to see an R143 on the A line or even maybe on the D line
I would think that some cars will be used on the J/M/Z so that use of older high maintenance R32/R42 cars can be reduced or eliminated pending further deliveries of new R179 cars which have unfortunately been delayed. You would not be likely to see R143 cars off the Eastern Division other than on the M since they are 8 car sets (480') and the express A and D runs use 10 60' car sets (600') (or 8 75' cars) exclusively.
murray is right, some R143s will be moved to the J/Z due to its 8-car capacity and reliability on those lines.
I have seen some of them on the J/Z even recently while the L has been operating normally.
Yellow Dasher789 No, the R143 won’t go out of service during the shut down. It would most likely be transferred to the J, M and Z lines.
murray1575 I heard that the R42/R32 will go to the G line
This is probably a stupid question but what does it mean when trains relay??
Moving or switching
BenTheMiner / MTA Railfanner thanks
Np
Usually refers to making a reverse move on a yard or tail track after discharging passengers at the end of a run or a short turn station due to a GO or service outage.
What happens if they fail
My question was why do they need to test with the R143 train on each line
They don't, they test every train
They test **every fleet** & they deadhead to the test track (BMT/IND: Rockaways | IRT: Between Gun Hill Road & Nereid Av on the EXP/middle track) and perform emergency brake testing there. No, that R143 wasn't testing on every line
Me gusta trains
How did they get it from the J line to the A line
Probably used the Chrystie St. connection that the M normally uses then reversed somewhere on 6th Ave. then either used the F and switched to the A at Jay St. or switched from the F to the C/E local track south of West 4th and used the A line from Canal St.
1) East NY Yard -> Chauncey St (Yard is next to Broadway Jct) to Essex St [J/M/Z]
2) Switch via Chrystie St connection [F/J/M/Z]
3) Essex St to W 4 St [B/D/F/M]
4) Ahead of W 4 St, switch from N/B local to S/B EXP or S/B Local [A/B/C/D/E/F/M] (Only my opinion depending on track-layout via wikipedia)
5) Switch to 8 Av (S/B), Upper level [A/C/E]
6) W 4 St to Euclid Av -> Pitkin yard [A/C]
This is what i think so far, correct me if I'm wrong though.
Via the connection On the M line to 6 ave and then via the D to Central Park West
1:12 the R143 is the widest train ever
The R143 is the widest trains in the world. Also the r68
why are videos that are recorded in january posted right now
Where did you get January from
description it says taken on january 12th and 13th
never mind he corrected it before that was what he said
A r143 testing while an r143 J train arriving to marcy avenue
That was an R160
You don't get it, r143 and a r160, if you look closely, in the r160, you will see the us flag up and the mta logo down, but on the r143, the mta logo is up and the us flag is down
Oh yea sorry i thought it was a r143 j train lmao
@@ortimate2543 interesting I was wondering how you tell em apart. They are pretty much identical.
Brake testing not a bad thing with R143’s
It horn
They sound so aged especially when they departed the station
I’m sorry
they need to add R143s on the Q line because i live on the Q line & R160s are terrible
Julian Marie What would 4-car trains be doing on a line that needs 600’ trains you idiot?
The R160s are great! And now the Q line is filled with stupid R46
