- Viggo Mortensen’s second outing as writer/director is an elegantly realised Western.
Set in the 1860s, Vicky Krieps stars as Vivienne, a spirited woman who starts a relationship with Danish immigrant Olsen (Mortensen). After meeting Olsen in San Francisco, Vivienne agrees to travel with him to his home near the quiet town of Elk Flats, where they start a life together. The Civil War separates them, leaving Vivienne to fend for herself in a place controlled by powerful rancher Jeffries, played by Garret Dillahunt, and his violent, wayward son, Weston (Solly McLeod).

😮I remember viggo from A Perfect Murder with Douglas and Gwyneth paltrow, boy did I NOT like his character and that's the sign of a entertaining performance 👍 I recently caught The Road,what a chiller!!! My favorite of his is A History of Violence and I'm looking forward to his directorial debut💯

Go watch first the old westerns with john wayne, clint , sabata ,etc. See one of the firsts westerns of Vigo and them watch this one .Then your point of view may differ from just decent . We know that its difficult to impress '"what ever "ppl with good work and real actors nowdays.
