What an honour it would be to play with River his energy is off the charts...the two of you beautifully raise a person's internal vibration one beat at time and for that I am eternally grateful and needless to say a fan💯Namastate
Can't wait for the new album. The World needs Acoustic Storm, a unique vibratory sound to raise consciousness, love and peace. I am mesmerized by the mega-talent bursting forth, just waiting to be appreciated.
nice to have some new talent doing lively stuff on these instruments ... you guys fill the hole left behind when "No Strings Attached" broke ...superb!
wonderfully original, exciting, dynamic.... you are all amazing talents, keep producing this delightful music... don't know how you will come up with a muse that will trump a thunder storm but I know you will...
Wow... Again, you all have accomplished an incredible and multi-layered piece. The interplay, coordination, and collaboration of the 3 musicians was masterful both to listen to and to watch. The split screen and angles were also very well done and timely. I got on RUclips to find dulcimer playing tutorials and found some inspiration to start me on my way. Thank you for your (and your friends) unique and valuable contribution to the musical world.
Wow. You guys have really got it together. Wish you all the success and hope you take Acoustic Storm all around the word. Absolutely blown away by your ability to create a most intoxicating sound.
To be honest, I looked up hammer dulcimer and found this. I usually want to hear the hammer dulcimer played by itself, so this is not what I was looking for. At any rate, this is really good, I like how it develops and the unique rhythms. The reason I like to hear it by itself is because in a band setting it sometimes sounds like an old piano, and I am looking for something relaxing. But it's cool.
You will be spellbound! Joshua is joined by Asheville percussionists James Kylen and River Guerguerian to form a World Percussion Supergroup. Listen as they create an Acoustic Storm on hammered dulcimer, vibraphone, and world percussion. Joshua and James composed Acoustic Storm during a mountain thunderstorm in Asheville, NC. ruclips.net/video/4Uzh0Myb5_0/видео.html
Joshua Messick i love this song, as well as all the others. the music thats played comes from the soul, pure intentions, not like the things you hear in most songs today. the song that moved my soul was woodland dance, most amazing song ive heard in a long time. thank you for playing such great music.
I've been playing a "mix" for a good while and I don't have words to describe the soulful pleasure I've felt. All I can really say is thank you for more songs to love! 💓 💞
This is fantastic stuff. I'm a beginning mallet player, and have been looking for groups featuring vibes or hammered dulcimer, so I think a group featuring both is pretty awesome!

Sitting in my living room with a red lantern and chandeliers on I close my eyes imagining myself sitting with a goblet of unsweetened rose wine in one of the hotels here in Dubai with an artificial waterfall and your music playing in the background. Excellent feeling...... lazy lounge music feeling. Well done Joshua....... err... my son's name is Joshua too!
Awesome stuff Josh. I'm really enjoying getting to know more about your music since meeting you at Lake Junaluska. There is such an internal drive to your music that keeps me mesmerized. THANKS GUYS!
Mr Messick: As always you are most excellent on what you do and so I would like to pay my respects again;) congratulations on the Acoustic Storm project. Music can heal you know ??? So play the tune you played at the Song of the Wood store, that one that you called "We are not sure yet," that would be a great song with the band, :) and make it last longer too. Please :):):) Wish you the best.
Thank you! This is the finished version of tune I played in the store: ruclips.net/video/eRg6dOwOumQ/видео.html It is the title track of my newest album, "Woodland Dance". And yes, it is with the ensemble -- good ear. Thanks for listening!
Is that like... an 11/16 time signature?? Or 11/8... definitely 11 though. I can honestly say I’ve never heard that. Hands-down, though, in my opinion Josh Messick does the best Dulcimer music on RUclips. And I have a bard that plays dulcimer so I’ve listened to a lot of it. High five to his band, too. Excellent stuff.
Joshua Messick Oh wow it is! Huzzah! I have a dulcimer playlist there and now I can finally add Woodsong Wanderlust. I’m curious though, why the mixed feelings on Spotify? Is RUclips a lot more friendly for creators?

I found out the dulcimer when researching about the origins of the piano. Basically: modern piano>classical piano>harpsichord/organ>clavichord>dulcimer. Well... approximately :) Correct?
Absolutely flawless playing! Part of me wants to give up on creating music when I see that talent like this exists, but I know it's a bit silly to think like that haha
Taurex Glad you enjoyed it! Music is so much fun to play, isn’t it? Keep up the great work creating music. Thanks for commenting and please stay connected!
@@JoshuaMessick It sure is! Been playing the guitar since my early teens and just recording ideas on my phone for years (lost hundreds of recordings because I didn't create backups! oh well, learned my lesson there!) I was always very interested in creating music and learning how to actually produce songs but I just had no idea where to even begin, until 2-3 years ago when I just decided to do A LOT of googling haha! It was a very tedious process honestly, but it paid off in the end because now I understand a lot more about the technical stuff so I can focus more on actually creating music and experimenting with sound design which is a lot of fun! I just wish I was better at finishing my projects though, and I often lose perspective on what sounds good if I get stuck on one thing for too long... Also trying to learn the piano, but I should probably take lessons for that before my improper finger techniques sets in stone haha! Anyway, I apologize for the wall of text... Once again, your playing is incredible and you've definitely earned a sub!
Taurex It sounds like you’ve had a great journey! I’m glad you’re producing music and getting freedom from the technical restraints. That’s a great place to be. You’ll be really happy if you finish your creative work. There is *always* room for improvement. An artist is never done... they just find a good place to stop. Sometimes, it’s best to finish and move on to the next project. But... finish first :-) Keep up the great work, and it’s an honor to have you as a subscriber. I welcome your comments on my videos!
@@JoshuaMessick Yeah you're right! The thing is that I've always had a bad habit of comparing myself to people who are far better than me at something, so I end up with too high expectations for myself and unsatisfied. Like I want to sound like my favorite artists, but I'm just not on that level yet so I spend too much time trying to get one thing just right and that's when I completely lose focus and I don't even know what sounds good anymore so nothing get's finished. But I am going to try to just finish more stuff regardless because I am definitely NOT satisfied with having hundreds of unfinished projects, so it's better to be less picky and just finish the songs. It's just a hobby for me after all, so I can always go back later and change whatever I want. Thanks for your response! In my experience not that many people take the time to read and reply to the comments on their videos, so I appreciate it! :)
