  • When Christ returns to claim His bride, it will be revealed that some of those who claim to know Him are in actuality false believers. He will find both wise virgins who have possessed faith and foolish virgins who have only professed faith.
In this study of Matthew 25:1-13, John Gerstner reminds us that there are many in the church who are not really saved. He examines the outward works that both Christians and non-Christians may produce and encourages people in the church to search their hearts for the obedience that demonstrates the reality of the faith professed.
This is the 1st in a series of messages by Dr. Gerstner on Jesus' parable of the ten virgins. See other videos in the series: • Parable of the Ten Vir...

Not surprised to hear RC Sproul in Gerstner's inflection, tone, and mannerism -- Sproul was an ardent student of Gerstner's.
In fact, Sproul taught on this same subject, in a similar studio setting.

Exactly WK, my face just glowed with appreciative smiles going through this. To some extent Dr Sproul even sounded like him when he emphasises. God be praised. Indeed whom we learn from is as vital as what we learn.

I think the Reward of going to heaven is reward enough. We deserve nothing from God.

    Habakkuk 3:19
The LORD God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds' feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places. To the chief singer on my stringed instruments.
    Mark 11:23
For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

This parable was taught to the Jews at that time, it is not meant for the Church. The virgins are the Jews during the Tribulation. The kingdom of heaven is when Christ physically sits on the throne of David and rules the world with a rod of iron. In this time of God's Grace we enter the kingdom of God by being born again by the Spirit of God. By believing that Jesus Christ, the only begotten of the Father, was sent to shed his blood for us on the cross to die for our sins and that He was buried and that He defeated death by rising from the grave 3 days later.

It is meant for the church! You're either saved or your not! If not, The Bridegroom will say as in Matthew 7:21-23, Depart from Me I never knew you! And context is everything!

Francisco: when you have as much education and experience as Dr. Gertsner, we will consider you seriously and not a foolish, uneducated critical person.

The NASB is very similar to the KJV - the NASB is a bit easier to read. The KJV is best when you are studying but other translation are good to help get the idea across. We have all read passages in the KJV that we didn’t understand - then when you read a translation like the NLT it helps you understand. And there’s nothing wrong with doing this - when translating a language it’s common to be able to translate a word in more than one way so a translation like NLT will help - but then we should return to the KJV. Same concept with this video.

      Yeah, kinda chuckled at that.
      Fantastic, sober teaching, though.
