Yeah, I’ve noticed that Joe is always confrontational. Instead of being decent. It’s like he’s soul judge and jury. Always has to make everyone suffer. It’s a good thing I’m not there, cause I’d walk away from this. I don’t care how many viewers they have. I’m not going to be insulted by Joe Bastianbich. He needs to learn some common decency and manners.
He test and teach you at the same time to re assess what you doing and you going with the dish you are cooking. He test your confident level as a cook.
After establishing himself by being loud and raging, Ramsey does not have to act like that all the time anymore. He has seriously toned it down and there seems to be a certain ratings draw to have him be uncharacteristically nice. Therefor Joe's job is to be the mean one now. You are right, they used the wrong word. He is not the toughest judge, unless you mean toughest to please. He is just the meanest judge.
Not having joe is one of the reason the Brit, canadian, New Zealand and austrailian master chef is so Great. They Eliminated the unpleasantry and theatrics of the American version,.
I have a suggestion for other MC Canada episode: post the challenge of season 2 where Christopher was eliminated. I remember Lyne gave to the 4 contestant one tool to cook with, and it was so interesting to watch!
I like how he questions everything they do. It's a good way to test their confidence and make sure they're really thinking through everything they're doing. I feel like creative people need to know when to stick with their vision and when to heed advice and adapt. I've found with my own works that inducing doubt can be very helpful. Stressful as all hell, but helpful nonetheless. At least that's what I like to think he's doing 😆 It's hard to tell if he's a stern man who means well and just comes across as harsh, or if he's just a genuine narcissist.
i will definitely agree with him questioning the decisions made by the cooks. the example i go to is asking Eric if he is adding red wine to his sauce. its never too late to add red wine to tomato sauce and almost always a good idea to have a little bit of it in there

This is going to sound insanely strange but...are they told how to lift the boxes up? For example they have wine underneath the boxes if they don't lift the box all the way up iy would easily knock the glass over and break. So I guess I'm wondering if, because it's a "mystery box", if they're told before hand to always take the top off a specific way just incase there is something like a bottle of wine that can easily be broken if knocked over. Joe is kind of right in pointing out what they do so that the cooks can be more confident and learn to handle the pressure. Apart from the unnecessary insults, i think some of his actions are very much justified
Well they do go on the show go get judged. They went their themselve wanting to grow and learn from the best. They are happy to be jugded in this case i'd say.
Sometimes I feel like Joe could be nicer but is trying so hard to be Marco Pierre White. His strictness seems fake while Marco is a natural whose compliments are genuinely felt. Joe's compliments feel begrudging.
Joe Bastianich is NOT a chef, so there's no reason to respond with calling him as one. He's a restaurateur so he knows what good food is because of his business but only knows how to cook things because of his mother.

Season 1 of Canada tried to be like the US version where they make it more like a reality show than about the cooking, But that all changed in Season 2 onward, Canada did it's own thing and focused more on what the competition was about.
It was only for season 1, the producers probably made them act like gordon. Afterwards, in the next seasons the judges are actually kind and gives actual constructive criticism
