Great video Andy. Ive subscribed and watched your videos for easily 1 to 2 years now and never commented. I feel given recent events that I just wanted to say you're a credit to the backpacking community and I love the level of detail and research you conduct on every review. Your channel is certainly the most progressive and well respected in the backpacking/wild camping space, in my opinion. Keep up the great work and please keep the videos coming. Very inspiring!
Lovin the continued diversity in the videos Andy, keeping it interesting and channel relevant. Nice to see the bargins and cheap options with the premium kit. Keep up the good work 🙏
Brilliant Andy...... Absolutely brilliant info, and like others have mentioned, the effort you've put into the info in the descriptions/links is appreciated. The 2023 OMM video and this one are cracking, hope your subscriber numbers increase as you well deserve it. ATB
A bit different to my daypack/2 day pack i use here in the forests and fells. Water is very clean here so I just use a Millbank bag and then boil it if I need to. A folding saw, a knife, fluorescent vest and loud whistle. Paracord, fabric tape, basically enough to cut tree branches in order to support a leg injury and tie/tape the leg up. I could go on but you get the picture it’s more safety and rescue stuff just in case for others too. Kendal mint cake! That’s a great short term survival food 😊
I don’t knock them, I only point out to people the main design elements are borrowed from other tents. Check out my X-Mid review and my trekking pole tent group test, I say multiple times how good the tent is.
I always struggle getting everything in my 50L Atmos ag, my issue is the tent, I have to carry the Fjallraven Abisko dome 2 for me & my Mrs, I do give her the poles & pegs to put in her bag, but the tent itself is quite large in volume, just about fit everything, however it is tight! The big Agnes rapide SL is a fantastic mat, tried loads of different ones and finally found rapide SL this summer. As always great video Andy.
Great informative video Andy. 7kg is pretty impressive, especially as you don't seem to have skimped on anything. I thought I'd done well getting my solo car camping kit down to about 10kg - without food or water lol
I've used the 1:40 mini maps. Ideal. I generally use Harvey maps anyway. I find the colours they print with seems to make them clearer to me for some reason.
Hi Andy wrt to your water have you ever considered a UV. I find they work fast and well especially when used with a Millbank bag when the situation calls for.
Your load out here is similar to what I use, although I don’t have the Montane bag. It looks like a good piece of kit with the pockets on the straps, was wondering if they are they big enough to fit a large-ish iphone inside? Might treat myself to one in the summer. Another top video Andy. 👌🏼
sigma sport is doing a sale on Big Agnes, I got my copper spur 1 person for £230ish, In the meantime, wildbounds also doing a sale on some of the nemo tents
Great video thanks pal. Interested in the SD quilt. Have you done a review? Apologies if you have, not seen it. Have the same pack (was gifted) but not tried it yet. Will give a go. Cheers.
Could you do this event with less lightweight gear or is everyone taking supervlight stuff? Video of omm looks fun but my kit isnt that lightweight yet. Cheers mate.
Thats a good quality kit layout u got there 👍 i just bought a pair of ronhills running bottoms the looser fit old school style 😅. Do u think your innov8 waterproof trousers would be ok for a bikepacking as a backup for extremes or a bit too flimsey for bike ?
Thanks for another great video Andy. Could you tell me how the Trailblazer feels with that much weight please ? I've been looking at them for while but don't want to pull the trigger and buy one if it's not going to be comfortable with 10-12 kg. Thanks again.
With 1L of water (so approx 9kg) I genuinely didn’t notice it but I am used to carrying much more weight. I personally wouldn’t want to take it to 12kg, there’s not enough padding in the shoulders, hips and there’s no suspended frame. But up to 10kg no problem 👍
Thank you for the information Andy. I guess that this 44litre backpack will not replace my Rook 65 but it should do for short summer thru hikes. Much appreciated. Keep up the great work 👍@@BackpackingUK
Surely you must get some of it for free most RUclipsrs do. I've got a fair bit of gear and I really struggle to find somewhere to store it.. Can't imagine your situation with a new peiece of equipment each week.
I do get some gear free but I buy the majority of it myself. I buy a lot in the sales and ebay and then resell it on ebay after to raise funds for new gear!
Nice loadout, I would of laughed my head off if you pulled out the Asta out instead of the mid 😂 lol
🤣🤣🤣

Brilliant video as per usual Andy
Great to see your lightweight load out
Yay You've packed a Durston tent even though you are most of the time knocking them. Always love your videos Andy... Brilliant!!!
I don’t knock them, I only point out to people the main design elements are borrowed from other tents. Check out my X-Mid review and my trekking pole tent group test, I say multiple times how good the tent is.
Thanks Andy as a novice this is extremely helpful much appreciated 👍
Glad it helps 👍
Great review Andy, been looking at one if these recently
Nice vid.
When I go out I usually bring toothpaste tablets instead of tubes. Nice load out.
Please share a link! 👍
I was informed toothpaste is harmful to some animals so I use bicarbonate of soda.

I’ve never seen those Harvey maps…great size
They're tiny and waterproof too! It's takes a bit of getting used to the 1:40000 scale but once you adjust they're fine.
I've used the 1:40 mini maps. Ideal. I generally use Harvey maps anyway. I find the colours they print with seems to make them clearer to me for some reason.
Spot on breakdown and very useful - thanks :)
Amazing pack been using them years 😊
Very amazing video well done and keep up the great work
Hi Andy wrt to your water have you ever considered a UV. I find they work fast and well especially when used with a Millbank bag when the situation calls for.
Enjoyed the video, also enjoyed your OMM video .. how about a soft flask with built in filter
I lost it! I had a LifeStraw but I've just changed to a BeFree.

I had my iPhone 14 Pro in the front zipper pocket, it’s really stretchy 👍

That’s a bargain! Mark’s got that tent (it’s on our Pen y Fan video).

No review yet, but I really rate it! So much so, I purchased the Nitro 0 too.
Great bags I've the synthetic version which is good value.

Great video mate, if you don’t mind me asking how much would you estimate the cost of that set up?

They’re really thin! Fine for emergency or infrequent use but I wouldn’t want to snag them on anything!
@@BackpackingUK ok thanks 👍
Absolutely Great 👍🏼
Cheers 👍
Expedition Food make dehydrated food in the both 800 or 1000 calories !
How can you tell if the water is safe to drink even when you’re high up ?
Personally I’d use a water filter. However, the water high up in the Lakes and Snowdonia should be ok to drink.

what about your camera gear ?
Is this backpack still comfortable with 10kg load?
Yes 👍
is it strong enough considering the thin material?
Strong enough for lightweight gear 👍
You really don't filter your water?
I usually do, all the time, just not if I’m going light.
Another freebie? Where do you put all this gear lol.
I wish, I paid for all this hence why I did that power station video!

@@BackpackingUK Glad to hear that you do considering the effort you put into your channel.
I can tell youre ex squaddie by how tidy your bag is and how you described your powerbank as "gucci"😂
I wish, I’ve got a boring office job, hence why I’m obsessed with being outside!
