❤ My sweet mother, don't you cry to me Even if they put black on you My faded body By flames is not defeated The swallows of fire Even if the cross seas The soils of rhizome They never forget My Starry-Eyed Girl, little girl Lean so I can kiss you So in your holy tears My lips I can extinguish My Starry-Eyed Girl, little girl Lean to me so I can catch you My forgotten wings In my last moments to rest Ah, my star, my jewell My sweet mother, don't you cry to me A boat is my life That looks for the way back The wind my sail My Starry-Eyed Girl, little girl Lean to me so I can catch you My forgotten wings In my last moments to rest Ah, my star, my jewell Ah, my star, my jewell
Hello friends. Do you remember the city of Mariopol in Ukraine that was completely destroyed and almost all the inhabitants were killed 2 years ago? This city was built by Pontic Greeks who had fled from Turkey after being chased. Like the family of Klavdia. Most of the inhabitants of the city who were killed were Greeks like Klavdia and the name of the city is Mary's city, that is, city of Mary, that is, city of the holy Mary. The family of Klavdias came to Greece from those places.
Starry Eyes (Αστερομάτα) is a poignant and emotional song by Klavdia, representing Greece’s cultural and historical legacy. The song draws inspiration from the struggles of refugees and the profound pain of being forced to leave one’s homeland, particularly referencing the Pontic Greek genocide and its impact on generations. The title, “Starry Eyes,” symbolizes hope, guidance, and resilience. The lyrics revolve around themes of maternal love, longing for home, and the enduring strength found in heritage and memory. With lines like “Sweet mother, don’t shed a tear” and “Through the storms, I’ll find my way,” the song expresses the universal human experience of seeking solace and belonging amidst adversity. The music blends traditional Greek elements with contemporary influences, creating a rich, emotional soundscape. Klavdia’s heartfelt performance enhances the song’s depth, delivering a message of hope and perseverance that resonates far beyond language barriers. It’s a tribute to the strength of those who carry their history within them while navigating a path toward a brighter future. Was about time for someone to make some research about the backstory of the singer and the lyrics! Well done guys! Really well done!!! 👏

My sweet mother, don't you cry to me
Even if they put black on you
My faded body
By flames is not defeated
The swallows of fire
Even if the cross seas
The soils of rhizome
They never forget
My Starry-Eyed Girl, little girl
Lean so I can kiss you
So in your holy tears
My lips I can extinguish
My Starry-Eyed Girl, little girl
Lean to me so I can catch you
My forgotten wings
In my last moments to rest
Ah, my star, my jewell
My sweet mother, don't you cry to me
A boat is my life
That looks for the way back
The wind my sail
My Starry-Eyed Girl, little girl
Lean to me so I can catch you
My forgotten wings
In my last moments to rest
Ah, my star, my jewell
Ah, my star, my jewell
Thanks
