Super easy to install. I had a quote to have it done by a shop and they wanted to charge me over 800 for labor. I ordered this hitch and watched this video and completed install in about 45 mins. Love this product
We love hearing this and we are happy we could help! Some jobs are pretty straight forward if you can you see it done first. www.etrailer.com/t1-2021_Subaru_Ascent.htm
Thank you for the feedback! We are happy we could help! If you plan on towing a trailer, you will need a trailer wiring harness. Check out the following link to see the options we have for the 2021 Subaru Ascent. www.etrailer.com/t1-2021_Subaru_Ascent.htm
FYI - we recently purchased a Subaru Ascent Onyx (2022). The Subaru technicians and provided operators manual are very clear: the towing capacity is 5,000 pounds and the Tongue weight capacity is no more than 500 pounds (not 750 as mentioned in this video). We’d love it to be 750 because the tongue weight of the Casita RV we just purchased is 415 pounds with nothing on board(a problem for us). Finally, we were told to remove the weight distribution Hitch equipment because it makes the Subaru as a tow rig UNSAFE. The weight distribution Hitch (Anderson) or sway bar system (Drive-Tite) confuse the built in Subaru computer controlled automatic sway control system which cannot be turned off.
The 5000 lb/750 lb tongue weight figure you mention is for the hitch itself. However, you'll be limited by the actual capacity of the vehicle if it's less. www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Hitch/etrailer/e55ZR.html
That is very informative - thank you. The GVWR of the Ascent is 6000 and the trailer is 3500 … and the advertised towing capacity is 5000 … it is frustrating that we’re already up against a 500 pound tongue capacity limitation
I don't believe all Ascent models included the trailer wiring. You can add one aftermarket, though. For a 4-pin connector, use # 118790 or # 118290 for a 7-way. www.etrailer.com/Custom-Fit-Vehicle-Wiring/Subaru/Ascent/2021/118790.html www.etrailer.com/Custom-Fit-Vehicle-Wiring/Subaru/Ascent/2021/118290.html
Just curious, but when I go to see if this will fit my 2023 Ascent the website says it won't. Any idea if you guy have any plans for making this for a 2023?
Our hitch suppliers haven't confirmed a hitch fit for the 2023 Subaru Ascent yet. We expect a fit to be available by late winter/early spring. www.etrailer.com/vehicle/2023/Subaru/Ascent

Hey so what if there's no wiring harness? I got the base model 2021 Ascent from Carvana recently and I'm like...dude, where's my wiring?
